Lord Sondar's Achievements

  1. I think someone is very feverishly writing an updated pdf as we speak too. But well never know. I actually felt a physical weight lifted from my shoulders. I've been building my Blood Angels since before the Black Books so I have a few more esoteric models in my collection.
  2. I think this might sum a lot of it up. Heresy was driven by two factors people who wanted to recreate the characters and units we read about in the Black Library and people would didn't like the way 40k was heading. I'm primarily a builder and painter but like to make lore accurate models. I do game but not as much as I build and paint. I'm going to pick up the new rules but will continue to make whatever fits my head canon. If my consol wants a different weapon set that's okay for me.
  3. I've alternated between music and miniatures. I think I've spent more on guitars still over the last 25 years. I've probably spent more time painting minis and reading lore though. Are people thinking of getting the Saturnine box? I'm not sold on the dreadnought or gun emplacement. So, I'm going for the books for now and will pick up some minis as required. It's a lot of money to lay out for Libers when you have loyalists, traitors, mechanicum and a planned milita army (minis have been purchased).
  4. I'd totally forgotten I owe these, whoops. Fortunately, I have managed to play my first two games of 2.0 this month. Just in time to start preparing for 3.0.
  5. Angron does look better in the video than the photo. I personally quite like it but agree the resin wings are just going to break as soon as you look at them. The plastic 40k version seems much better for gaming. While this is a display piece. Not a fan of the Lotarra mini. But love the character. Her legs and hair look off as others have mentioned.
  6. My Cataphractii Sons of Horus shoulder pads took about two weeks. I ordered them on the Friday they were released though. I find they have a little stock pre made before new items are launched. I did wait more than six months for Dominion Zephon from GW though, that was 180 day order. Which was dispatched quickly after I queried it just after then 180 days had passed. I hope you get your pads soon. Lupercal, for the Warmaster.
  7. @Boc Don't worry about the NNM. I stopped using metallic paints a while ago, when I decided to push myself. I'm pretty happy with the results but I don't think I've managed to get the contrast between the light and shadow right yet. You can all judge once the paint goes on
  8. I've been working on the base this morning. Sadly, lost my desk as my eldest daughter wanted to use the computer but I'm planning some more updates later. I decided to lean into the Sanguinary Guard idea. Will be a nice nod to my Blood Angels army. There's more work to do on the base, more stone and sand to blend it altogether. Reverse view showing the magnet. Detail of the 40mm base for gaming.
  9. Am I going to need to paint in NMM gold now . He might need a bit more Blood Angels bling if I'm going to paint him gold.
  10. I'm starting to bring the base together now. I've magnetised a 40mm base for standard Heresy Games - or at least when he's in combat. I'm currently building it up with sprue before I add all rocks, sand and paving.
  11. I've been able to get a fair bit done today. I'm really happy with the way it's shaping up. There's a real 30k vibe but I've managed to keep a lot of the original sculpt that I wanted.
  12. I had a long hard think about what I wanted from this build. I decided, I wanted to keep as much of the original sculpt as I can but add nods to the artwork and 30k. Today's progress so far...
  13. Thanks for your suggestions. You've given me some ideas to think about. I wasn't going to change the armour that much but can see its going to have a better 30k astetic with some changes. I'll have another update this week once I've made some progress.
  14. Thanks frankendoodle65. It's only early in the build so far but it's starting to show some signs of progress. As to conversion work, my plans are to keep a lot of the sculpt the same but I've removed all the organic chaos growths. The horn like spikes and piercings pushed through the armour. I'm using this image from Collected Visions as inspiration. I'm currently working on the eye for the center of the chest plate. I see Abaddon as nearly as big as Horus, so the size of the model doesn't bother me.
