  1. Yay for passes. Sometimes being military sucks all the fun out of life. I shall strive to do better! I just got the new Primaris HQ guys, and will be painting those this month. As well as the update from last month, just to keep trekking along.
  2. I shall start this month as a place to begin painting up my 60 terminators. Initial vow will be 5 firedrakes with TH/SS. And rearming all my Lightning claws into hammers. Update on the total models tomorrow.
  3. Update: Completed the vow and the models that I wanted to get done. I am not a big fan of the Hellblaster models or the Basic Intercessors. I love the character models though. (dislike them in the game I think) Hellblasters (Prior to the ice effects, cause it takes days to dry and I just applied it last night) http://i.imgur.com/AYpUZep.jpg Captain: http://i.imgur.com/ncEdlEJ.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/ytIQw7W.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/EEFmPRi.jpg Lieutenants and Ancient: http://i.imgur.com/tiPBuUq.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/r7k4G2s.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/yr5rmNb.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/ZLQi5fj.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/j3DICmj.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/rAvL09d.jpg
  4. I too am excited. And looking forward to the fluff. I am sure it shall spur me to paint more! Thanks again for the hard work WF.
  5. Today's update. Nearly finished the Gravis Capt. http://i.imgur.com/tg18hAo.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/AVONGWe.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/duR0Kx3.jpg
  6. So it would seem my schedule only lets me get some work done in the mornings this week, because I'm horridly exhausted by the time I get home after work. That said, today's update is a finished Lieutenant. Just gotta add the last touches to the base, which requires some water effects to dry first. http://i.imgur.com/vAGhyTo.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/jWTXHQu.jpg
  7. So, Salamanders are my first love, and I enjoy them. but most of the time I don't post any updates on B&C because my Necrons tend to get painted and played with far more than my marines (cause everyone is a marine player here). So now we have a forum on my favorite board and I can go full swing on my Necrons. I may actually have a reason to finish painting them now! As far as tactics go Bonzi brought up something similar to what I was telling a friend about. So that's viable with just about anything you wanted to field. But I was looking at a couple other playstyles. First off I would like to point out that we can bring back and effectively use the old phalanx style. with 4 squads of 20 Warriors, 2 squads of tesla immortals, 2 monoliths, a slew of lords and cryptecs (or barges if you want) and a couple of Annihilation barges. What this list brings is a horde style army that will shoot the crap out of everything. The tesla is highly effective against horde armies themselves, and the sheer number of dice you can throw should put some hurt on anything. Plus we have an army that fields pretty close to the most AP weapons. A second effective tactic I thought about while reading through the books was the old destroyer list. Destroyers got more expensive but are way better. D Lords are nasty and buff them, and aren't special characters so we can take multiples of them and profit. The amount of fire, high toughness, good save, reanimation, high movement. Possibly the better bike army now. Eldar biker spam might be cheaper, but not tougher. And their guns don't hurt as much as ours. Thoughts?
  8. Saturday was a very busy day for me. I picked up my Dark Imperium box and all the new books, then I got dragged into other RL things before I could even touch them. However yesterday I finally got around to building and painting on some of them. So I suppose my first Vow for this month will be some Primaris marines for my salamanders, cause they are pretty neat models and look really good in every color but blue (=P) so, I, GKTerminator, pledge to month 1 of the 2017 Tale of Hobbyists: 1 Captain in Gravis 1 Primaris Ancient 2 Primaris Lieutenants 1 Squad of 5 Primaris Hellblasters (I think this will be too little, but I am a slow methodical Painter =( ) I lost the picture of the Primed models, but here's the slightly greener after priming models. And the First Lt having his armor pretty much done. now for details, and some clean up. http://i.imgur.com/YyNNxkg.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/gUKlAM0.jpg
  9. I don't even play templars but I had some bits and I love some paimtimg challenges! I am in. I, Gkterminator, accept this challenge. http://i.imgur.com/Fhcpaod.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/lXPSJqL.jpg Edit: here's todays progress http://i.imgur.com/4m4TEW0.jpg
  10. I like it, the only complaint I have is that the head's angle looks a little off to me. Could be the camera work. Looking forward to seeing it painted.
  11. today my painted IG got put into the glass display case in my office, now taking up two shelves almost fully since there's a painted superheavy! Pics later on when I get back from work.
  12. Many thanks indeed for all the hard work put in here from both the administration and member's sides.
  13. Looking good guys, the end is nearly here, you can make it! And if you haven't vowed...you still have time to crank something out, do it for the citizens of Ioria! They need you!
  14. @Honda to fix the powders, I found it is really simple, the first trick is to not put your weathering down in too heavy of layers. Then in between each layer of weathering I put a quick spray of Mr. Hobby matte varnish, it dries almost instantly and I just keep on weathering. The second trick is more involved, where I seal the model first then weather, sealing it often. This can make the model look a bit sloppy if you are not careful, so I try to use the above method more. Looking good everyone, keep going!
