I know dry brush and wet brush techniques separately, the way you described it, it sounded like you combined them haha. I'm guessing you just did a wet brush highlight then a dry brush? -

Do you drybrush your models with like a grey or shadow grey? I like the smokey/dirty black color you have going, looks very appeasing and breaks up the black nicely. -

You know you're a black templar when you defeat your enemy and have their models burned for being foul xenos... true story friend had anger management, ended up burning/breaking his models after our game (felt bad).
