  1. "Truly, I did not believe this day would come. Ultramar burns and Terra will soon join it in consecrated agony. Rejoice, my brothers, for the nisus has begun and dawn cometh!" Battle Brother Kayliph Suur of the Word Bearers Legion Devout Warrior of the Chapter of the Stillborn Dawn Second Squad, Designation b(Pa) of the 33rd Void Infantry Company Astartes Pict-feed taken at the Thandros Genocides
  2. Has anyone happened to see the new Hatred rule? Is it the same or have they changed it at all?
  3. Man... as a Word Bearer, this 'Legiones Cybernetica' change to the Praevian really sucks. A leadership special rule on fearless automata and no access to Dark Channeling... :(
  4. The choice to remove Boxnaughts is... really weird On another note, have we seen the new Iron Hands rites of war? I've seen basically all of their rules except for the RoWs and their unique reaction.
  5. Nope. Word Bearers forever. I might pull out a second hobby project for Ultramarines or a loyalist Emperor's Children force, but I'm more likely to do World Eaters so I can ally them with my Word Bearers.
  6. Forgot to post this here, but I managed to whip up a quick paintjob on this fella. It's not completely done and certainly could use some refinement, but I'm pretty happy with how he came out! Lemme know what you get think, yeah?
  7. Trying out a little experiment, here. With the new Horus Heresy just around the corner, I really wanted to get cracking back on my models. However, I think I'd like to wait on my Word Bearers for a while until we start seeing more pictures of what will be coming out in plastic. With that in mind, I've been mulling about with different ideas for what to do with my Mechanicum allies. I want something that feels sinister, something that will compliment my Word Bearers, but also have a nice contrast of color. With that in mind, I've been considering Xana II as the homeworld of my Taghmata forces. I really dig the fact that they have a bear skull as their sigil and I thought it might be more interesting to try and replace many of the skulls and heads in my Taghmata with different animal skulls. I also think the bright bone will be a nice contrast for my arterial crimson Word Bearers. So, here's a little test model for a conversion idea I've had for a while with my Thallax. I would really appreciate the feedback, gents. I'm gonna try and see if I can whip up a paint job on this guy in the coming days. Wanna pick up a Legio Titanicus 'Legio Mortis' transfer sheet so I can use the House Malinax transfers for my boys.
  8. I remember dreaming of this being a thing as soon as Belisarius Cawl reared his stupid, ugly face and brought Guilliman and the Primaris with him. Any basic logic applied to the political situation of the Imperium would have recognized how utterly insane this whole thing was and how hilariously improbable it was for the Imperium to not tear itself apart over this heaping helping of insanity and heresy. The High Lords of Terra wouldn't accept this. The Mechanicum wouldn't accept this. And virtually no Astartes outside of maybe some of Guilliman's sons would have accepted this. But they did anyway and GW tied it all up in a nice bow by sweeping everything under the rug. Hexarchy Incident? Could've been really interesting, but they just conveniently killed off all of the nay-sayers in an instant, leaving Guilliman without an obstacle among the High Lords of Terra. The Astartes? Oh, well, the Custodes helped deliver the Primaris stuff to a lot of the Chapters and virtually no one is going to tell them no. Hell, even the Black Templars, the Chapter with the biggest reason to give Guilliman a giant middle finger, has accepted it with no repercussion. I'll be honest, I don't really see what you're seeing. Every single opportunity that has been set up for a massive civil war and strife in the Imperium (and rightly so) has been addressed and demolished in a heartbeat. I wouldn't expect it to happen, buddy.
  9. And thank you for having a sick Blasphemous reference in your name, even if that wasn't your original intent. :D
  10. I will throw my own hat onto the table for this subject, even though I don't actually participate much on this forum, these days. I started coming onto the B&C towards the tail-end of High School in 2009. As a massive Chaos and Black Templars fan, I used to frequent both of those respective sections, particularly the Chaos threads. Let me tell you. For many years, I genuinely think the Chaos section here on the B&C was the worst, most toxic place in the website. I don't feel I am hyperbolic here when I say that a good 90% of every single thread posted there devolved into complaining because this was during the age of the dreaded and unanimously loathed '4th Edition' codex that was released just before 5th edition. When you have a beautiful, intricate masterpiece like the 3.5 Chaos codex utterly stripped down to the bare bones, you'd probably be angry too. Almost every thread that wasn't just meant to complain about the state of Chaos was eventually derailed into complaining about the state of Chaos, and it went relatively unchecked by the moderation because half the time they were joining in. At first, I didn't mind it because I felt the exact same. I adored the hay-day of total customization and tailoring my armylists to fit into whatever narrative I had. That got taken away and we were left with a gross, rotting husk. So we complained, again and again. For a time, it was something I indulged in, but I eventually grew weary of the constant toxicity. I didn't want to complain about Chaos anymore. I just wanted to enjoy my favorite Faction again. So, I pulled away from the Chaos section and steered clear of it, pretty much exclusively keeping my nose in the Work in Progress threads where I could enjoy something constructive and positive. I'm happy to say that the Chaos threads are no longer like this and even if I don't usually frequent those areas anymore, it's still a treat to sometimes slide over and see what people are chatting about. After the dawn of 8th edition, I felt like the Bolter and Chainsword at large had become like the Chaos threads of old. And, once again, I didn't mind it at first because I too loathed the Primaris menace. (I still do, but that's entirely besides the point.) But, once again, I grew weary of the arguing and venom so I drew away from the Bolter and Chainsword once again for a year or two. Again, the Bolter and Chainsword is nothing like it was in those dark days. Even though people still get heated from time to time, most people have seemed to settle down and the Moderation team keeps things in check fairly well, even if it needs to remind people not to act like idiots from time to time. Thankfully, certain individuals who were truly toxic have been banned from the forums and the B&C seems to be back at a relatively healthy state. (I still wish more people frequented and commented in the WiP section, including myself and we got rid of that DAMN Likes system because I'm a crotchety old in a 29-year-old's body) I guess what I'm trying to say is that things could be and have been much worse before? I don't know, but I find the Bolter and Chainsword to be in a much healthier state of conversation than it has been in a while. I do agree that sometimes stepping away is healthy and I would highly recommend it for anyone who needs it. Just remember what brings you joy in this hobby and focus on that instead of the negatives.
  11. Didn't you do some really gorgeous Word Bearers back in the day? Insane memory! Cheers and thank you, I had a long running Word Bearers project that kind of grinded to a halt with the change in base sizes, and just generally wanting to paint something different haha. Maybe it's time to go back! Sick. I loved your Word Bearers and I can't wait to see what you come up with next, mate.
