Tangamarine's Achievements

  1. Some beautiful conversion work going on here, just the sort of wacky, creepy like constructs I would expect from the dark mechanicus :D
  2. My names Tangamarine, you may remember me from such projects such as the plastic sicaran Mk II, laser destroyer, and predator executioner here, and below: /end Troy McClure accent So its been a long time since the Techmarine's pushed a progress update too the noosphere, but a broken arm leaves me more time to take pictures than procrastinate from building and painting models! You may notice that there are an awful lot of angles compared to their 40k counterparts, I really wanted each unit to feel part of the army, and as such needed the 41st millenium space marine asthetics, ie curves should not be seen nor heard Without further ado I present to thee my latest work, this time a little more additive manufacturing compared to sawing a landraider apart as previously:whistling: Space Marine Jetbikes Fly fast, fly hard I have been sitting on this project for a decent chunk of time (pretty sure this sketch is 5 years old now!), however got put off by the task of creating 6+ identical plasticard additions scared me from actually committing. The previous Sicaran showed there needed to be a lot of small modifications en route, and I was so absorbed with the project, that I never noted down any plans, A bit of a shame at the end of the day, as in the time since the Venator has come out, which would require a complete retool of the chassis. A dark angels black knight biker was chosen as a basis for the rider; being the newest, and therefore most detailed marine biker to date, with Mk IV/ Primarus helms chosen for their sleeker look (while also avoiding the beaky Mk VI, ironic as the rest of my chapter wears Mk minus the helms!) Jump ahead 5 years and I found myself working at a company with extensive rapid prototyping facilities, and it was time to get to work. Being an engineering I chose a CAD package I was most familiar with, this being solidworks, and started experimenting. Progress was slow at first as I learnt the capabilities of the printers we had, plus making sure the new parts matched the DA base. The result was the major components split down the middle, and some printed separately, all in the efforts to maximise detail quality. Some suffered a bit of warpage, which has/ will be filled with milliput and sanded down. I really didn't want the finished model to look 3d printed, so only sandable basic shapes were printed, with the rest of the detail being greenstuff from moulds, plasticard, or just good old bits. Space marine Dreadnought Drop Pod Steel rein Now the intention behind this project was only to replace the fins on the pod, as they were severely warped and bits had broken there. But it quickly spiralled out of control, until this happened. I used the original model as a guide for measurements, which was much more difficult than I had imagined on account of pretty much the entire thing being unsymmetrical, and warpage and slippage rappant. But I persevered. Along the way I decided, that again, it needed to fit in with my other pods, between it and the revamped one forgeworld just put out, things were amiss, so I got stuck in:I dropped the engine size to enable a full leviathan dreadnought to sneak on in (of which will certainly appear shortly!) Redesigned the wing vents and locking mechanisms to match the plastic marine pod. The hex feature at the top also needed fixing, forgeworld made a mistake (or at least an inconsistency, with the trio of holes being covered by the doors when closed, so that got pushed upwards. I borrowed the much improved floor pattern from the newer FW iteration, but kept the door proportions the same to maximise interior space (the newer FW model only suiting smaller dreads, and cut the doors off at the corners which destroyed the pods profile IMO, and would reduce a leviathans mobility). Floor ribbing on the doors was also modded to match the plastic one, with some tubing to be added as well. Bottom of the base was also proportioned more akin to the plastic pods. Engine detailing will be carried out using guitar wire, and steering turbines stolen from a plastic pod, while retaining the original FW models look. I will also bee using wire sheet to get the access panel patterns (more on that later:wink:) Interestingly enough my initial prints came out better, so I will have to retroactively apply my future edits, as a partially blocked nozzle allowed the locking pins on the fins to come out much crisper (I'll show the poorer quality in a future post). Magnets will be used as hinges for the door, and print shrinkage cost be a days worth of printing as the magnets were too large to fit, coupled with the holes placement too awkward to get a drill in. As with the bikes all surfaces will be sanded and gaps filled. Company Champion Yes, I do actually paint the odd model One of the few models I have finished painting, and I have now learnt to cover up any unintentional brush strokes with cartoon like battle damage its saves a lot of stress, and breaks up the large open spaces Devastator Squad Sergeant and Armorium C.A.T By the Emperor, I'm going to need two <storm> bolters for this heresy! With the recent ultramarines supplement release, I feel this guy is going to be promoted to a Lieutenant and gifted the Vengence of Ultramar for some rapid fire 4 goodness! Still needs the tiled plasticard done to the base, like the majority of my army. And for when he runs low on ammo, the armourium C.A.T got his back... I have matched the spare ammo with the squad loadout, for the extra bit of OCD You just know I am painting that trailer red Well that's all for now! Feels good to be back (PS. I have been trying to get pictures from the gallery to show up bigger, but no idea how, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated)
  3. Finished scratch built Mk II Sicaran
  4. Right, time for a much needed update. Unforseen changes to my weekend plans saw a lot less actually being done - I only had sunday night to put a few hours into the inquisitors base, which still needs some detailing done to the side of the stairwell - any thoughts would be appreciated here, at the moment I am considering a few vents press moulded via greenstuff. A convientient loseless of the bluetack letting the assain lean forwards more has led to a more dynamic, leaning forward pose, which seems to convey a bit of speed to the model - like she has just completed a dash through a group of enemy combatants, with a slightly unfavourable outcome for the opposition. Parts of my team have been taking part in a Choas vs Imperium Brother Kortmer and I have going on with a few friends at the moment, but have traditionally faced off against his vile traitors. I have tried to keep the more radical elements our of the killteam thus far, and losely base some visual elements off the Agents of Shield TV show, (unfortunately I didn't have the to to find bits for a telekenitc member, or a forcefield covered in inquisition runes acting as a stormshield. The changes to inquisition in 8th as put these guys on the backburner also - I have a corvus blackstar as a guncutter which will be used in games as a valkyrie / blackstar. I envision these guys boarding cargo ships and conducting fire sweeps to look for any illegal xenos contraband that is smuggled in system. What exactly are you refering to? The other members of the killteam, or Brother Kortmer's? Probably one or several shades of grey - could try for a lighter approach but ultimately want these guys to mesh well with the Tangamarines which traditionally have a darker base to contrast with the orange. The city I am planning could have a few different coloured builds/ sectors which could allow for some leeway in the scheme - which might be a good idea to have them lighter for different factions / my deathwatch also, to ensure they do not blend into the terrain too well. Is that a subtle dig to get my terrain project off the ground also? (In the meantime osme of the hobbymaster terrain ground probably do in a pinch)
  5. Well, I just typed up a nice chunky reply to this, and my computer managed to eat it, so I aplogise if this is a little susict, its getting kind of late over here in New Zealand. Starting point for the squad: I have decided to go with an urban theme for the bases, and trying to improve on my previous bases, with were just several peces of plasticard chipped round the edges to look like cracked pavement. This time I have added cork and patterned plasticard to the mix, along with a few cities of death gubbins and plasticard piping. Over the last few days completing the bases for each acolyte - no small order when it took a minimum of half an hour per base! And progress tonight on the inquisitor's base: Will eventually have half a door frame and ruined steps, as to look like she is showing her inquisitorial seal to the unfortunate occupants of a building her squad will be inspecting for signs of xenos taint. After I finish the inquisitors base tomorrow, early Saturday, I intend to fix all the additional details still required on the model, such as gap filling the phase carbines, adding cables, and sculpting a new hand for the rogue trader. Paint scheme wise, I intend to go with a black/ dark grey special ops kind of look, with cartoonish damage being applied (chipped armour etc) with minimal, if at all weathering involved. @Brother Kortmer: Loving the new and improved pose of the inquisitor, along with that huge ass daemon head you have going on there . I might have to borrow, neigh acquire (by inquisitorial mandate of course) the mould you are using for the symbols on the acolytes heads - it looks ace and could be the perfect finishing touch to the pauldrons of my own acolytes. I also noticed the texture of our corks differs significantly - overall I feel like yours seems to break a look nicer than my - currently I am tearing mine away with plyers to get the desired effect. (My own supply is offcuts from model railway cork underlay which may explain it). Keep up the good work! I am sure next update will show your models half painted already! (who am I kidding, my scryer skulls have already fed me picts of this very thing! - quite an achievement to have painted in todays dreadful weather! )
  6. Quick pic on where I will be starting on for my small inquisition Kill team. Made sure my inquisitor is outfitted with a custom webber gun so these pesky xenos can be interogated and experiemented on. Trying to draw lose inspiration from Agents of Shield for this one (In fact the rogue trader almost got an eyepatch! ) All models are not fully assembled and are instead mostly bluetacked together (Brother Kortmer knows my bluetack obsession quite well >.< ). Before these guys are ready to paint all the ripped cloth off the neophtye models needs to be filled, as fitting of an agent of the inquisition. Thinking of doing a cork based base, with a layer of plasticard tiles caping the cork, and pipes sticking out between the layers. My gun slinger rogue trader also needs another pistol holster like what I have given my would be assassin. The phase carbines also need gap filling, as I have cut and extended these to suit the neophyte arms.
  7. I, Tangamarine, accept the challenge set to me by Brother Kortmer, and step into the Arena, where we shall build, paint and base a general infantry unit. I shall bring forth an ordo xenos kill team before the deadline of August 31st, 2017. If they complete their challenge, eternal glory will be theirs. If they fail, they shall wear the badge of shame until the end of 018M02.
  8. I may be interested, orange might be cool if available. Just playing around with battle foams custom creater, and it looks like land raiders, storm ravens etc are going to be a squeeze or not fit in at all?
  9. TITH I stripped a squad of metal grey knight terminators which I picked up for only 27NZD Been wanting such a squad for ages ... now just have to find one of the old metal psycannons, hate the look of the newer model
