I would suggest it's naive to hope for the animation to change too much. It's unfortunate. 2nd tier developer takes over and probably underestimated how much animation love Relic put into these games. It wasn't just sync kills.

No more than Iron Hands "losing their identity" any time there's a Tech Marine model. Even the classic Mr. Iron Warrior mini looks like an edgy tech Marine.

I like that the Undivided Chaos factions are getting the "Codex Chapter" treatment. Upgrade sprue with some special characters. The upgrade sprue helps a lot for the Chaos Space Marine squad. Remains to be seen if Iron Warriors get a special kit like the Corsair raiders. There's whatever robo beast that's still being teased, but everyone has speculated it's a defiler that everyone gets.

I managed to get some Wolf Scouts with these weeks preorders at least, now they're temporarily out of stock.

This is why I alluded to you as a bitter, cynical curmudgeon who should not be assumed to have any sort of agenda or motivation beyond being reflexively cynical and bitter!

This is probably going to be moderated away but comments like the one I'm responded to are what I mean when it's hard to differentiate folks who are simply always ornorery curmudgeons & have been been for years and those who are being influenced by let's say "poisonous cultural moment." It affects me too! I hate having to wonder if everything is some sort of agenda, it's my nature to want to call that crap out rather than engage in good faith.

So please bare with me while I phrase this as diplomatically as I can: I think you and some folks need to be more aware of the cultural moment this discussion is taking place in. When I see complaints of tokenism accompanied by what I feel is unwarranted cynicism (from my perspective lady custodes are simply "Neat!"), if I did not know these particular individuals are just cynical about absolutely everything then it'd be impossible to not associate it with the background radiation projected by bad actors who use these sorts of developments as ammunition. Is it unfair that everything is filtered through this cultural lens & poisoning discussion? Yeah. Should we be aware and of it and acknowledge it so we can mitigate it? Probably! So some people need to summer down about this as it's becomes especially inflammatory? Also probably!

Also its wild that people can nod along to "the squats were these cool votaan guys all along, nothing like the crazy biker dwarfs from the fast past editions," but the notion there might be some ladies under those custodes helmets causes a meltdown. I know what I think motivates it but I won't say it.

Yup, 40k does this all the time. For example, we pretend Space Wolves always had dreadnoughts with shields and axes and flew wolf-head shaped gun ships with ice beams. edit: A much better example "HERE ARE THE LEAGUS OF VOTANN! SQUATS WERE ACTUALLY COOL ALL ALONG!"

May I suggest "A traitor with half a face!" to match syllables with "This Kong has a funny face!"
