I also very much wish this was the case. This first book was so good but part of me the whole time was just a bit like ‘it’s a shame the series will probably end up as uneven as the heresy or even the siege series’. But yeah pretty much agree with everything you said. The characters are all excellent, such a diverse cast with different views on what happened and where to go next. Malcadors bunch are actually interesting, I always love Wraights politicking Guilliman, the two main Traitor POVs and how they play off each other and how that thread ended was awesome. I also love the snippets that start each chapter, from memoirs, interrogations etc. What a start to the Scouring. Please may it continue.

Also true of almost every faction they listed there. Dunno why UMs are the problem.

The shoulder claw is a perfect match for the rumour engine though (honestly if it’s real, the balls of GW to do a rumour engine from it…)

DarkChaplain has basically said anything I’d say in a much better way than I’d say it but I really really liked this book. One downside is I’m now dreaming of a universe where the whole series had been this quality (and also I’m now wanting to do a Shattered Legions force, but that was bound to happen). It’s the first time I’ve really felt the full emotional weight of the betrayal at Istvaan V, rather than a more neutral event that happened in the heresy or the localised impact on specific characters (like Argal Tal in First Heretic). Definitely came too late but was well worth the wait.

People have also been asking for rescaled terminators since 2nd edition though. Whatever order they do stuff in is never gonna make everyone happy.

I disagree about how good the existing plastic set is tbh. I never particularly loved it because it was quite a detail downgrade from the resin when it first came out, and I don’t think it’s aged that well. They’ve seemed pretty small and under detailed since the MkVI kit came out. It’s also 10 years old now, it’s no spring chicken.

I don’t know why the pattern being damage or not makes any difference to the suit being salvaged. When I say salvaged, I mean it was rescued from the battlefield, and then repaired and integrated into the two survivor suits. The pattern is clearly decoration, as if from one more highly decorated suit, for example that of a commanders… The drones could have been recoloured to match easily enough. It’s not explicitly said but I think it’s implied by the models and is a really nice bit of implicit storytelling in the models. We’ve barely got any lore on them either way, it’ll be interesting to see what’s said about them when they come out.
