Follow-up on the rules; Gwalchavad -Dropping Eight Gates would be a solid way to reduce the number of variable modifiers, but it'd be quite reasonable to boost his base WS to 8. Improvements to WS and I are a bit less impactful at higher values, after all. -Wisdom of Ages could make a good substitute Battle Meditation. Perhaps streamlined to "Gwalchavad's Initiative is equal to 4 plus the number of the current Game Turn"? Allowing him to reach I9/10 in Turns 5 and 6 isn't a huge advantage (how often will he be in a situation in which I9/10 is significantly better than 8 in turns 5 and 6?) but would make a fun extra. Coimheadair -It's an interesting concept, curious about the fluff behind 'em. It's hard to review, though, being quite different from most units involved in the Heresy! In terms of cost, I'd lean towards lower rather than higher, due to the smaller role Psykers seem to play in Heresy games (although that could vary quite a bit regionally). Luth -Not sure how the Battle Meditation is applied - is it referring to their Parry rule? -Instead of Psy-hunters, perhaps just give them Psyk-out Grenades? Maybe those weapons are a contribution the Wardens of Light made that survived the purging of the Lost Legions. Doininn -I might have been a bit overzealous in saying the unit's superfluous - it has a level of deviation from its standard equivalent that seems typical of the Heresy legions. Still, applying Blast/Large Blast with a blanket rule, equally affecting Autocannons, Lascannons, Volktite etc strikes me as a bit awkward. Applying Barrage is the strong point of these rules, thematically, conjuring the image of the centered Doininn making impossible shots through cover.

Props for having a Primarch in headgear - wish Forgeworld would offer that option, ornate helmets can be as effective at communicating personality, if not even more so. Good use of bits going on - de-Chaosed Chaos Marines/Warriors, 3rd party stuff, a bit of Blood Angel and those long, flowing parchments. Tying together disparate bits gives 'em a unique feel. The blue faceplates in particular are a great touch - when you're working with the simplicity of a Legion-style colour scheme it can be difficult to stand out, but those faceplates fight against that. Makes them feel different from the Celestial Lions and the later-released Stormcast blokes. Digging the Mortal Kombat reference - I feel like there are a fair few parallels of tone between MK and 40k, despite the differing visuals and scale.

Agreed - after all, we have the Raptors Chapter for a clear example of a change in heraldry - from Yellow pad, Black Heraldry to Dull Green pad, White Heraldry. -

It's fantastic, and I love the way you used a magnetized chunk on the scenic base to completely conceal the fact it's an extension. The only way I could see it being better were if the Daemonblade were sharper looking, but I'm not sure how that could be done without ruining the wailing face details.- 2352 replies

Digging Loe's big tenderizer of a Maul - where's that lovely bit from? Props for the paintjob, very vibrant, and the snow was a great choice to contrast with it.

I always felt the whole "Unforgiven" think was a self-judgement thing. Maybe concealing the Fallen was purely pragmatic back in M31, but 10,000 years later it's mostly about how they judge themselves. -

I kinda prefer the second - I dig the "blowing in the wind" look, and the pelt has a really solid "HERE'S A BIG THING I KILLED" vibe.

Well, here's an old example of what I was experimenting with (I moved on to press-molded green stuff cloaks). http://i.imgur.com/ldGA2BZ.png Looking at your tut, I was mistaken to use super glue, rather than thinned white glue, to shape mine - dried too quickly, and limited the tools I could use to shape it (it's murder to clean it off the clay shapers).

I'm impressed. My experiments with paper/tissues to create capes and cloaks convinced me that it was a useless technique; you've convinced me otherwise. Bravo.

Deinos, of the Sons of Malice

Elevators only have one button in 40k, and it takes the passengers to Over The Top. Fluffwise, you could probably mention that gas jets are simply ornate igniters for the Promethium (a working flamethrower has to have a pilot light to set the fuel on fire, after all). Or not, might be getting too technical. -

I suppose, although that might make it a rarely used power. In my experience, at least, a squishy unit tends to dive in first as a bigger thing (which isn't too worried about flamers) follows up. My instinct would be to focus on making the power useful in Deinos' current combat. -

I'd be concerned that scattered placement of the template would throw off the 'balance' between using the template and just punching the enemy; if he's at the front of a unit, allies behind him and enemies in front, he'd basically have a 50/50 chance of attack the enemy or his allies. Hmmm, didja check how many it'd cover if he's, say, fighting enough foes to have at least two rows pressed up to him? Most of the games I've played have been against Orks/'Nids, so I've got a skewed view of this :P. If the enemy aren't dense enough for that to happen, then chances are he'd be better off just S5 punching 'em. Not sure if firing in combat would help, since he'd only really be able to target enemies with the narrow end of the template. -

Yeah, he'd need something better than base-to-base if he's giving up all of his attacks. Not sure if having the small blast template over him would allow him to target that many more enemies? Since they'd probably be pretty packed up close to him due to pile-in. I don't have a small blast temp. with me to check, though. Maybe crib off the old Grey Knight's Holocaust power? If he sacrifices his attacks, he gets to place a small blast template anywhere in base contact with himself - it'd offer a bit more control and hit a few more guys. Yeah, the assault-what-he-shoots stops the melta from being over-powerful, non-Transport vehicles would be a bad target for him since they'd waste his assault phase. I guess he'd love trashing a Chimera then attacking the Guardsman inside, though :P The AP of the weapon's 1, other than that you've got it right. Compiled the fire-modes into a template: The Burning Hands (Spread) Template 4 5 Assault 2 (Focus) 6" 8 1 Assault 1, Melta, Twin-linked -

Approval! Malal's perhaps the Chaosiest chaos god, needs more time in the limelight. It's rare to see a Chaos Lord with horde-murdering over a focus on elite infantry, Deinos should turn out interesting to play. Also, one quirk of the "attack all in base contact" rule I forgot to mention; it's done using the Strength and AP of the Heavy Flamer! Mebbe knock that down to flamer levels and use that with Deinos? The AP5 would make it an interesting choice in some cases. That would offer a fun choice - do I attack at S5 AP- normally, or S4 AP5 to all in base contact? (Losing all of his attacks to do the base-contact-attack might be a bit too much of a sacrifice, but I suppose it could also be a decent way to limit his strength.) Hmmm, actually, if we assume fluffwise the gauntlets are a smaller variant of the Dreadfire Heavy Flamers (Dreadfire Gauntlets?), maybe give them a small melta attack too? Since DF Heavy Flamers combine to make a TL meltagun, DF Flamers would probably make a TL Inferno Pistol. Yeah, conservative is probably better. I mainly recommend EW since FnP on a chaos guy screams Nurgle. :P
