Is calleb decima too heavy an investment at this point as having eternal warrior might help me face off the worst.
  2. I'm returning to heresy gaming after a 6-7 year hiatus - however on reading through some of the mech army lists i'm reminded that lots of the compulsory troop choices arent scoring. Page 16 in the taghmata book in the short paragraph marked 'Scoring units' mentions that units taken as troop choices are counted as scoring units unless falling back? so how come the comments that Castellax in a cybernetica list arent scoring is confusing me. Or have i got this wrong?
  3. he does seem an auto include - i haven't been able to come up with a semi competitive list that doesn't include him so far. i have no idea why people would take KP over erebus either? Are you making use of dark channeling much?
  4. I'm planning to run my Gal Vorbak with Plasma guns, lightning claws and arti armour - i couldn't see any benefits in going with a power fist with the amount of rending attacks 10 of these will be at strength 5. the deep striking reason was why i have plasma guns but theres a good chance these will be delivered by Spartan so i'm unsure at the moment whether to get a spartan or not. guess it'll take some play testing to see what comes out on top.
  5. back to keeping this to a tactics thread - is there any reason why you would use Kor Phaeron over Erebus?
  6. im not clued up on daemons at all. i am considering using an achilles + culverins in my list and having two rock solid gun platforms advancing with my WBs. Or is 300pts a great daemonic stepping stone of a bloodthirster and a handful of nurglings?
  7. having difficulties looking at using the dark brethren ROW. 1 x Heavy support choice is not the best thing considering i wanted to get a spartan that would use up that slot alone as nobody seems to have spartans as designated transport in my list im building. 2k - im looking at the mandatory Erebus Centurion/Chaplain 10 x Gal Vorbak 2 x medics + augury scanners 2 x 20 Tac squads + powerfists Spartan + ceramite + flare shield This doesnt leave me much left to choose - i will get dry bummed by most tank heavy lists. Do i go support squad volkites or should the points be thrown into fast attack with primaris lightnings (i have 2 ready painted to go) or look towards rapiers? Dark channeling may lose me a scoring option as well but i have an option to increase my melee ability with one of the squads. Im thinking i should jump straight to 2500pts but the local pool of players dont have the funds like me so i'm hovering around this level for a while :(
  8. true believers - WB units roll 3D6 for morale checks using the lowest 2 results. I'm deciding whether 2 squads of 15 + support/heavy support squad is better than 2 squads of 20? I have 50 x MkIV of which i may put some with Volkite weaponry but as i want to do a 2.5k list that is competitive what is best tends to matter. With rules existing in a few chapters that give them a distinct advantage if i'm outnumbered it would avoid that from happening but volkite threats are pretty serious so could give me the edge elsewhere in the complex rock/paper/scissors list i'm building.
  9. How are you guys running your tactical squads - is their a necessity to run them in squads of 20 with leadership being less of an issue with the true believer rule? Running in squads of 15 wouldnt be too bad surely or is it the fact that they cost cheaper 'by the dozen'? or is the extra killing power of the extra 5 just a better deal in comparison to points spent elsewhere ?
