  1. Aye, I am the originator of "choom" (I came up with it and others ran with it, though I will confess to milking it for all it was worth). I kinda wanted some kind of sci-fi onomatopoeia that wasn't simply just "pew-pew-pew". That was for lasers. Volkites are death rays, not lasers. ;) Also, to address the when of it - I believe it was 2015 when I first posted it up - possibly in a rumours thread? I'll see if I can dig up the actual post when I get home from work. (I am still stoked at the idea that A D-B canonized it!)
  2. Lovely titans, brother! I think you're doing well with the colour schemes - they look like they should be in a battle report. :tu:
  3. Gorgeous! I wish mine were half as good. ^_^
  4. It's chooom. For me "chooom is the soumd of the graviton mines from Boba Fett. Remember, when I first devised the whole 'choom' sound, it was intended to be onomatopoeic. That said, both of these depictions - the 'pang' (as I recall them) of Fett's mines and the 'squeal' description from MoM - can more or less coexist in the grey area of fan interpretation. The canon depictions so far don't really take Volkites in a drastically different direction to what we visualise already but, as we all know, canon is a very mutable thing. At least, so far, 'Choom' can be considered canonical. What exactly that noise is, is up to you. It definitely isn't 'pew pew pew', though. That's the blasters from Star Wars.
  5. Guess who's back, baby!
    1. Brother Tyler

      Brother Tyler

      Colonel Sanders?
  6. I may have been gone for a while but I'm back to check what I've missed - I am not disappointed, brother. Glorious work! :tu:
  7. Interesting. Thanks for showing this. :tu:
  8. Excellent stuff, brothers! Of course it does, Shah. Our only requirement is that it has choom. ^_^
  9. 'Denfather' could be good for an alternate Chapter Master title. Though I would stress avoiding calling your scouts 'Cubs' if at all possible. It sounds weird. Hopefully, that wasn't even a consideration. ^_^
  10. Okily dokily, here's my attempt at giving you some ideas. I would advocate, when searching for names, that you delve into some light research. Look up the Wikipedia page on Bears for example. Within seconds of bringing up that page I had come up with the moniker "Sons of Berathia" (which could be altered to a number of variations such as 'Knights of...', 'Brotherhood of...' and so on), derived from the Old English word 'Bera'. In my mind, using 'Berathia' not only allows you to have an ursine influence in your DIY, but also phonetically links to some influences from a Game of Thrones (Berathia/Baratheon). That's a twofer. There's several words that can help on that page, such as 'Arktos', 'Bär' and 'Urs', which could easily ascribed to prominent astartes or other things. For further inspiration, there's a couple of links at the bottom of that page. (Here and here.)
  11. Now there's a curious thought. It could go one of two ways, in my opinion, and neither option is 'good'. First, they could reject this supposedly resurrected Guilliman as the actual Guilliman (this would fall under cognitive dissonance). Second, their faith could/would be shattered and, in such a circumstance, what would happen after that would be anyone's guess. Personally, if option two is used, I'd imagine a religious schism sundering the Kindred as they seek to come to terms with the evident falsehood that at least some of their creed shows. Some may entirely abandon faith in the Emperor, some might seek to reaffirm the rest of their tenets, while some further still might decide to adopt a more mainstream version of the Imperial creed (all depending on circumstance). This, of course, would create friction within the Chapter, I believe.
  12. How's everyone, as of now? Anyone in need of aid? Apologies go to Lenoch for not responding - I was taking a break at the time of the question. ^_^ And, indeed, there are but three weeks to go. Well, less, in fact. If anyone can't contact me via PM, it's because I currently have a full inbox.
  13. Gotta be honest, brother, I don't think there is an existing picture of a Gorladon yet. The description, though, kinda reminds me of a Triceratops.
  14. In my opinion, it could literally be any first founding progenitor or their scions. Literally anyone, depending on how long this DIY Chapter has had time to develop on their own. That being said it does seem you are leaning towards helping their brutal culture/mind set with giving them a suitable candidate in regards to 'psychopathic' behaviour (ignoring the fact that, technically, space marines are all psychopaths anyway). So, your Chapter appears to be somewhat penitent - or obedient - to submit wholly to a cabal of Inquisitors. Said Inquisitors likely have some serious clout/backup... but that's another story for another time in all likelihood. Ahem. They're penitent and yet they'll gleefully burn/destroy/kill for the hell of it. "Some men like to watch the world burn" and all that. To me this would seem to require a certain mindset, perhaps one where they would believe that they, no matter what they do, are ultimately delivered from evil. Which in turn would, in my mind, suggest that they may be quite a pious lot. We can rule out the Fire Angels, though they themselves believe the Imperial Creed, as they are too young (25th Founding). Perhaps the Fire Hawks, a Chapter of similar temperament could be a good source? They have a several thousand year history and could easily have been rewarded in that time with an antecedent. The Conflagrators say hi. :P
