Crimson Ghost IX reacted to a post in a topic: How to magnetise Inceptors

Inceptor shoulder pads are standard terminator size, and luckily Blood Angels even have their own terminator box with perfect shoulder pads :) The easiest way would definitely be to just magnetize the arms directly, for everything else you have to cut things away and it becomes flimsy.

Aww seems you're right, good catch >.< The 5++ is still really nice though if you can buff a good amount of models :)

I really want to try a force with Captain, Lieutnant, Company Ancient with Standard of Sacrifice and 3 Units of Plasma Inceptors. It allows you to drop on a flank, preferrably into or behind some terrain where you're save from some of the return fire. The output of the units is amazing, the standard makes them a lot more durable, and when they die every model has a 50% chance of shooting back with 2D3 shots. The whole blob clocks in at 800 points, which still leaves a good amount for supporting units and scouts, and provides a very strong but mobile firebase that can't be locked down in melee.

Heh bad luck, but luckily it happens very rarely that all the rolls are terrible :) Just remember, it's still less frustrating than playing Magic (I feel I draw terrible every third game -.-)

Sweet, keep the reporting up! ;) Really nice to see that librarian dreads can perform well, I only tried mine once so far and it was a lot better than I expected - being a characters makes a huge difference.

The Fury of Furioso Dreadnoughts: A discussion on their uses
Ushtarador replied to Aothaine's topic in + BLOOD ANGELS +
I very much like the Furioso as supporting unit and distraction carnifex, but I don't think I would field more than 2 of them. I feel they work best in a very aggressive army that gets into the opponents face on turn 1, but they are easy to remove on their own. I think a major strength of the Furioso is that the Frag Cannon is a threat to light and medium infantry, but he can also reliably punch monsters and vehicles, making him useful against all types of targets. They also don't degrade and remain at full fighting strength down to the last wound. Finally, it's also relatively easy to hide behind LOS terrain or get into cover, which greatly increases its survivability. I actually never had and trouble getting them into shooting range turn 2, two times 8+D6 movement range is huge. However, you often need to advance to get into range, which is why I usually take the cheaper storm bolter instead of the heavy flamer (the flamer is Heavy, not Assault). This I absolutely agree with. The double fist Furioso would need a serious point reduction to be worthwhile, as he really doesn't bring much to the table, especially compared to the DC dread. -
Yeah it really depends on the targets your opponent brings - sometimes you need the same amount of hits with or without Artisan of War, sometimes it makes the difference. I would mostly decide based on that I think.

Thanks for all the posts guys, that's some great discussion here! I played a few games and decided to go with the JP, Thunder Hammer and Combi-Plasma, which makes for a very versatile option with high damage potential! I also magnetized the combiweapon-part so I can switch to melta or grav in case he blows himself up too often in the future. I had a lot of success with the 5+ FnP warlord trait so far, I think I prefer it over the 4 dmg hammer against most lists. I'll get a pic in as soon as I have the opportunity^^

I like Intercessors quite a bit as well. They are surprisingly robust, they are almost always in range of something thanks to 30" bolters, and they have a good amount of attacks in CC. I think it's the kind of unit that looks underwhelming on paper, and really doesn't do anything special. However, they perform surprisingly well anyway on the tabletop, I can only recommend playing a few games with them and see for yourself.

To Dreadnought, or not to Dreadnought...
Ushtarador replied to Paladin777's topic in + BLOOD ANGELS +
I am quite fond of the Furioso with Frag cannon and storm bolter. The best thing is that the frag cannon is an assault weapon, meaning you can advance and fire! 8+D6 is a very decent move, and they can also hold their own in CC against a good variety of targets. I usually run 2 and hide them during deployment (we have a good selection of terrain), then advance them first turn into cover and pop smoke, which makes them quite survivable. They are not very expensive anymore and synergize well with deep striking units for threat overload. -
Hey guys! I came to the shocking realization that I so far never built a captain with a thunder hammer! Now while this problem has to be rectified immediately, I wanted to ask your opinion about the second weapon option besides the hammer. I like to play competitively quite often, so that factors into my choice. An obvious choice is a storm shield, but I don't know useful it actually is nowadays. Another very interesting choice would be a combiweapon (combigrav maybe?) to benefit from artisan of war. Or maybe there's something entirely different I haven't thought about yet. Anyway, give me your ideas! :)

Transported my army in the carry on multiple times, never a problem ;)

This is amazing, I was quite sad when it wasn't included at the beginning! :D

Agree with Are, placing as many units as possible in deep strike will always be superior to placing them on the table. It's essentially allows you to deploy the unit (almost) anywhere on the table as opposed to your deployment zone, and it allows you to react to your opponents deployment. Especially if your army is built for having first turn, this is a very strong tactic.

Ah yeah you're right (would admittedly by quite broken otherwise). Still a nice and quite powerful bonus I think. :)
