  1. Agreed, I really think they should have made him Loremaster/Head of IP when Alan stepped down. He was instrumental in shaping the game into what it is today, and I can't really think of anyone left at the company that could do a better job tbh.
  2. Hahhaha, no it isn't. It's tiny. You can walk around the entire town centre in about half an hour. Sincerely, someone that lives there. Nottingham is more of a really large town, that just so happened to meet the requirements to be considered a city.
  3. All we know is that Orlocks are coming out in the first quarter 2018, and there are 3 more gangs after that. Minimum is 6 months, but if Van Saar isn't next (and we don't know who is), it could very well be 4th quarter 2018 before we see them. And of course, that assumes that GW will stick to the schedule they stated. Find a Blood Bowl player who was waiting for Elves, and ask him how that worked out. Numerous places, including Atia's blog, are saying the release schedule should be; Orlocks, Van Saar, Cawdor and then finally Delaques. So Van Saar should be coming in the 2nd quarter. If they are the 2nd additional gang to be released, then the sculpts where finished along time ago. I remember when the box game was first announced they said they had 4 gangs ready to go. I'd expect them May-June time.
  4. Mad Robot makes a squad called "Vanderbilt Fighters" which is undeniably a 3rd party Van Saar gang - in case you don't want to wait a year. Should be 6 (5) months for Van Saar, not 12 brother. Assuming we get a box every 3 months.
  5. Half the cardboard? I don't think you've bought enough brother. Needs more scenery.
  6. Awesome model, I hope this and Slambo are indicative of a return of the "Collector's range" in a wierd sense. Ie; Sculptor's personal projects getting cast up and released for the general public. Would anyone mind telling me if he's resin or plastic please?
  7. I always see people wanting stuff like the "Horus Heresy" being made into a TV show, but I honestly don't think it would the best way to present the franchise. For me "Necromunda" is actually the best setting for a 40k TV show because it actually has the potential to survive in the mainstream. It's a setting that will still be easily identifiable for people new to the setting, it could double as a crime/gang show as well as a 40k show. It can introduce other elements of the setting such as "Religion//Imperial Creed", "Imperial Way of Life" in a much subtler and more relate-able way than superhuman warriors duking it out never could. It also resolves the problem of a 40k TV show having to explain everything at once in the space of a few minutes. You don't need to explain the whole setting in one go to explain why gangs might commit crime/fight, but you sure as hell do to explain who the Emperor/Primarchs and Space Marines are. On top of that there's still loads of potential to bring in wierd and wonderful things from the outsider 40k setting. If you want a 40k TV show, it needs to be one that approaches the market with a sense of subtlety otherwise it would just crash and burn.
  8. Well I'll be damned. I stand by my original statement though, a Hired Gun SC would be ok, but a full blown gang would be too much. One of the great things about Necromunda is the fact it's an insight into the more human/everyday life of the setting. Lots of Xenos gangs would take away from that.
  9. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that, I'm all for Genestealer Cults turning up because it still kinda fits in amongst the setting, but that doesn't mean I want to see Xenos gangs of all flavours turning up. I guess an Eldar Bounty Hunter wouldn't be so bad, but a whole gang would be too "40k" for my tastes. Unless that gang was drastically different from 40k ofc... The Beastman guy looks amazing, literally a perfect model, I genuinely cannot fault it. Here's hoping we'll get some more previews at the Open Day alongside him. Maybe the third gang, if not just more of the Hired Guns due to be released in the near future?
  10. Voted for the "Emperors Gift" purely due to the sheer stupidity that it got made OOP anyway. It only came out a handful of years ago.... Great book, that belongs on the shelves.
  11. This. You have to think to us, Alan was a great man you brought so much to us as hobbyists and his legacy on things such as the Horus Heresy series will probably stand the test of time just as the original fluff has before it. But to the guys who actually worked with him he would have been so much more than that, a colleague, friend, perhaps even more than that too some. There is probably a profound reluctance amongst his fellow staffers towards re-doing his past work, even if that's what he himself wanted (8th HH rules for eg:), just out of respect for his legacy. I dont know how much input Alan would have had in Titanicus, but considering he was THE Heresy man it is likely that it scuppered at least some plans they had for the project. Also, there was a abit of a fan backlash to the thought of a game being based on expensive resin titan models. I think a Warlord was meant to be the size of a Thanatar, and therefore a similar price... At that price range I, and many others, were pure and simply just not interested. As much as the duplicate models of Blood Bowl peeves me off, it is relatively affordable to get into, so I can see why it's doing really well. Now all they have to do is release some more variant sculpts in PLASTIC and I'll join the fun. *hint hint* Thankfully, the Specialist studio have apparently come to their senses and decided to "reconsider" some things in regards to Titanticus. At least that's what the internet is reporting anyhow.
  12. I think you've posed some great questions...ones I haven't asked myself. I haven't read all of the Salamanders stories but most of them. What is it you're talking about in regards to the "three" and this business about the Webway??? The "three", or "trefoil" as it's more accurately referred too, are the Space Marine legions that were veiled from the rest of the Imperium at their creation rather than overtly operating as part of the early Great Crusade. You can read more about it here; http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Salamanders And on the pages of the other two legions that make up the "trefoil." The idea comes from Forge World's HH books. The Webway stuff is mainly conjecture on my, and that of some others, that the purpose of the Salamanders was to guard the "Imperial Webway" once the Great Crusade was won. There isn't any absolute overt proof of it, and I doubt we'll ever get any, but there are little hints dropped here and there which make it a possibility. it's a commonly accepted fan theory that Vulkan will guard the webway gate in the "Imperial Palace" when the Emperor teleports to the Vengeful Spirit. Some evidence for the idea off the top of my head; -Vulkan's gift. We know the Emperor engineered the Primarch with specific purposes, so it is highly likely that Vulkan's "gift" was granted deliberately. And as such it imlies that the Emperor would need Vulkan for ever. - The only other Primarch we know of that would likely have an indefinite lifespan is that of Magnus. The books have show us that even though Magnus psychical body died, his soul/warp essence lived on in shards which allowed him to take physical form in some respect, making him also effectively immortal. Now we know Magnus's purpose was to sit on the Golden Throne to guide the Astronomican through the Webway.. So if The Emperor needed Magnus for ever to help him with the Webway, and as such engineered him in a way in which he could live forever, that would imply he needed Vulkan forever for a similar purpose. - There is absolutely no evidence for this whats so ever, but it's always been a personal theory of mine ever since I bought into the "Guardians of the Webway" idea that the Salamanders appearance was deliberate. A way of explaining away Daemon sightings which would contradict the Imperial Truth. - Eldrad saying Vulkan will be the Guardian of "The Gate" and that he is the only one that could do it. There are only a few famous gates in the HH series worth guarding, and the only one that only he could guard is that of the Webway Gate. Perhaps that was his purpose all along. There's other little bits here and there which I can't recall of the top of my head, but if you put all the little nuggets of information about the Salamanders and the Imperial Webway together you can see how it all fits.
  13. The simple answer is; the writing. The Word Bearers are hugely popular amongst the modern fan base largely due to the work of one man. The Salamanders have got very little in the way of writing that actually makes them interesting. Annoyingly, the ground work for them to be interesting is actually already there, in part due to the great groundwork laid down by Alan Bligh. If we take a deeper look at the potential angles a writer could take to make them interesting, based on current background, it's honestly bewildering as too why we are stuck with Astartes warriors that think they're humans and just so happen too carry the personal thesaurus of a unknown pyromancer. - Why were the Sallies one of the "Three"? Common sense would indicate it had something to do with the Webway, but that's just my own personal conjecture. - If looking like an Angel bothers Sanguinius, how does looking akin to a Daemon affect Vulkan? - Perhaps more importantly, how does that affect everyone else? - Could the Legion's appearance be used to re-affirm the Imperial truth? (There are no such things as Daemons, only valiant warriors of The Imperium that resemble them.) - Why are the Salamanders allowed to keep their belief in the Promethean Cult? How/does this contradict anything in the Imperial Truth? - How did Vulkan fit into the Emperor's plans? Was he, and his legion, meant to be the Guardians of the Imperial Webway. I really hope we get too see someone else take a shot at the Salamanders in "The Primarchs" book series. I just can't stomach another 200 pages of fire metaphors.
  14. Wait what? Have I missed some news somewhere? The only other books I've heard about are; "Fulgrim, Lorgar and Ferrus." Haley supposedly got Mortarion in the works. Great news. Cheers. I wonder if we'll get a few links to his Dark Imperium books...
