  1. I gave up on building Templars for playing, they are now just ornamental decorations for my shelf... the edition and the rules keep on evolving, and while that's nice for everyone, it's not so nice for people who has armies and models that gets invalidated overnight because a certain company needs to make the profit margins for the year...
  2. I'm not sure why, but I'm getting a Saturday Night Fever vibe from the Emperor's Champion's pose... like this dance move: I like their paint style though
  3. I know how you feel, we're getting some rules and support in the Vigilus and I expect from Chapter Approve, but I think the time of the non-Primaris Marines is slowly drawing to a close... they have already Primaris'd Calgar, and obviously there's been a lot of demand from the BT fanbase for a Helbrecht, Grimaldus, the Emperor's Champion and a Primaris Assault Squad... it's technically a call to Primaris practically everything unique about the BT, and obviously a demand as well for Primaris to able to use basic Astartes vehicles... Personally, I'd prefer them to only be able to use vehicles created by Cawl, just so those that wants everything Primaris can't have the best of both worlds and have to buy the new vehicles as well even if they look like Stormravens without wings... Land Raiders, Razorbacks, Drop Pods and Rhinos belong to the true Astartes... I recently did a poll with the Black Templars and the Imperium of Man facebook group asking if I should give up my old Templars and go Xenos until the Primaris farce blows over or stick with my Knights and stand firm against getting Primaris like a boulder against the sea... overwhelming 250+ voted that I keep my old Templars and keep building while only 25+ people suggested I give them up... that says a lot... there's still a lot of support for the old Marines, and I suggest that we keep up the faith and stand firm, I'm sure that when they are eventually phased out, we'll be too dim-eyed and too shaky to even paint or play anyway...
  4. I contemplated doing this for a bit, but realized that if I do, then those with capes or tabards especially the Emperor's Champion model is not going to be part of the conversion and will be left behind... and also I would need to include Terminators, with which I have some FW models of, and they would be an absolute pain in the neck to "True-Scale..."
  5. Not on par with the best in this page, but I try my best... Land Raider Redeemer -- Magna Ignis Land Raider Crusader -- Righteous Zeal Lascannon Razorback Las/Plas Razorback
  6. Hey guys... You Know you're a Templar when you click like because it's Sigismund... oh yeah... spoilers for those who haven't read Black Legion
  7. Lol... I sort of have my EC on a plinth, although I wouldn't call it massive since it's still technically a 32 mm base just with a height design to make it look like he's coming down a set of bloodied stairs... you can't really have an advantage if it's height on ECs, since pistols wouldn't do much on shooting... as for wideness, it has an advantage in getting as many enemies as you can into melee when you engage, but it also means all of those enemies get to attack your guy into melee... and you have to declare anyway in 8th on which squads you're assaulting, so if your HQ has a massively wide base, and you decide to declare an assault against multiple squads and use that base as something for playing for advantage, you'll just end up soaking a ton of overwatch and if your model survives, then you'll get to attack a few times, and get swamped by all of the enemy... regardless, it's not much of an advantage... also... my EC on his "high ground"
  8. Personally went with the white city/moon/concrete look... I just presumed most of the battles that I'd be involving my Templars in would be concrete worlds or heavily urbanized and wrecked planets/cities such as Helsreach and and Jerulas... here's my result: although Templars are actually a decently difficult army to base, since majority of armor colors are black, and then you get the odd Apothecary painted in white that now semi-blends with the base...
  9. Yeah the most reason why hordes are so prevalent in this edition is because of the lackluster treatment given to template weapons in their change of rules... anyone running anything on open ground would think twice back then if you were running a Vindicator with it's massive pie plates... alas, it can now only kill a max of 6 models if it's even lucky enough to roll a 6... and don't get me started on flamers... If template weapons that are made to take out hordes of enemies make a massive comeback, then there goes all your horde worries and everyone would want to take transports back again to cover up against flamers and vindicator shells... edit: imho, transports would be quite necessary if your enemy has a lot of RoF weaponry to clear out hordes, but has few anti-tanks, so it becomes really situational to the meta in your play area... if everyone is bringing hordes or MSU and someone decides to bring anti-horde, and you bring tanks, you'll be the scissor to his paper, and he'll be the paper to everyone's stone...
  10. From a gaming perspective, transports are actually quite crucial in a game, while they might not have the killing capacity to make their points back, they will do their job which is transporting units to their destination. This is extremely apparent with transports like Drop Pods and Stormravens, that's why they have such a high price tag, especially with Drop Pods that have just 1 weapon and will only transport units once... The main issue, is the hefty price tag that comes with using transports... but you'd need them if you want to play aggressively... if you'd rather not have transports, then I would suggest getting fast moving units such as Bikers or Assault Marines, as mobility still plays a huge part in the current setting of W40k
  11. imho, terminator armor is terminator armor... even if he is on Cataphractii TDA, rule of cool trumps over basic principle of rules... good conversion btw.
  12. Yeah couldn't do this competition at all... had a backlog of painting (more than 50 models) that I put all of my kitbash and assembly on hold... wish you brothers the Emperor's guidance and blessings and will hope that you guys pull through with zeal and chainswords revving
  13. Not really much of an issue nowadays, since base restrictions have been fixed with the coming of 8th edition... 7th might have had an issue with it, with literally having to rely base to base contact with units to determine the number of units capable of fighting in a melee, but it's slightly better now with consolidation and distance from enemy base... But I kept my Neophytes on 25mm bases just because they look cool right next to 32mm Space Marines: Makes the Marines much bigger looking and much more imposing when side by side to smaller based Neophytes
  14. Welcome Brother, and nice model you got going there... can't wait to see more :) As for Tabards, you're going to find that majority of tabards from standard Astartes kits, come quite short and too narrow to cover the bulk of a Primaris Marine, so the only alternative if you want properly clothed Templars is to learn some Greenstuff sculpting... it's not entirely hard, the method used to make cloaks can also be applied to make tabards, just ask around our forum and I'm sure, Honda, Eberious or Brother Christopher can lend a hand in giving proper instructions of building tabards for your Space Marines.
  15. If you're planning on running Dreadnoughts, consider some points... such as they can no longer Deep Strike unless you were fortunate enough to have a Dreeadnought Drop Pod, which FW no longer sells... they can now only be transported by Stormravens, which can be easily shot down by Guard, they have access to some cheap and powerful anti-air, so unless you plan on taking aerial units en mass, then I don't recommend you running Templar air against a guard veteran. And finally, consider taking a Chaplain Dreadnought, they count towards the character rule, and they have access to Chapter relics. Also, if you're taking a LRC, against experienced guard or Eldar players, don't expect massive results in the case of damage dished out, it may have a lot of guns and fire a lot of shots, but all it takes is one unit to bog it down in assault and it can't fire any of its guns for 2 or more turns... so be warned... either keep it away from melee, or make sure you charge with it to get some use out of the Frag Assault Launchers.
