  1. In this context, given all the Admech leaks, I am willing to bet they're next out of the gate. Though Guard could also really use a new book. Personally, I'm not in a huge hurry, we've never been this competitive since I started playing. No need to remind them that crusaders are actually usable at their current points cost.
  2. This is exciting stuff, to say the least.
  3. It would be logical to me that all space marine chapters could fit into a single codex, provided they have an individual supplement. I deeply suspect the supplement is what has already been provided for most chapters. I'd like to be wrong, but I suspect the codex will add new unit entries and a few stratagems geared towards ultramarines players. I don't want to be a downer here. We have some decent rules. Intercessors with chainswords is the kind of thing I have been waiting for. A melee release was more or less what I was expecting this year, though I had believed they would do something for the Templars at the same time. Wish listing: I would really like to see a proper sized BT character. I would be ecstatic for two. I would like a proper impulsor that seats 10 - more is better in terms of transports.
  4. For badness, I should label one with "kiss the cook"
  5. So it occurs to me that if they are shooting at your melee intercessors, they aren't shooting at something else. The bikes feel like a good distraction carnifex. At the moment, there are too many unknowns. Regardless, I like the options better than nothing at the very least.
  6. I like these models. Will they be competitive? I imagine the melta guys will suffer the fate of the hellblasters. They get shot first. I am more excited about the melee intercessors and bikers. I see a future for them.
  7. Themed armies are interesting. If you are going to a narrative event, don't expect my little pony drukari or whatever to be welcome. That being said, themed armies seem to be popular to photograph at competitive tournaments. I would gladly play against a themed army if the army is well done. Any proxies or greatly different models should seem to be similar is size and equipped with weapons similar to the actual army in a uniform manner.
  8. I feel since we only have half the info or less on our new rules, we might be in store for some good tools to help us get into cc. It's really too early to tell, as we haven't seen everything.
  9. GW rolled templars into the codex despite their lack of codex adherence. It is entirely doable to make the marine book even bigger by adding wolves, BA, and DA. This is not a good idea to me. It feels more logical to have the main codex and then a supplement for chapters instead. These supplements can contain unique units and rules. Edit: The new codex sort of does this, but focuses on the founding chapters. My problem with this is that fluff wise, the templars and the crimson fists have as much or more lore than some of the founding chapters, leading to a reduction in space devoted to each chapter, or much more likely - removal of even more lore from chapters people are already invested in.
  10. The longer bolt rifles feel like they should have a bayonet option. Is that a decal on the rifle?
  11. The knights I allied in were House Hawkshroud. This was for two main reasons. Firstly, their yellow primary colour scheme contrasts well with the templar scheme, while retaining the black and white we all know and love. Secondly, they are more likely to be "oathsworn" to a crusade or army than individual knights from other houses. I also appreciate their insistence of answering all calls for aid, regardless of the cost. If you want to add a detachment of multiple knights, lore wise it shouldn't matter what knight house or forge world they are from. Oathsworn knights are rarer because they do not leave the armies they support during a campaign and often bear heraldry of the armies they support on their pauldrons. There are also freeblades, survivors of destroyed knight houses which operate more like mercenaries. These are great choices if you want one solitary knight, as they represent themselves, and not any army or knight house.
  12. If you can stomach an added detachment, you could add in a tank detachment or a super heavy detachment.
  13. Aren't auxilia (bullgryn) available to MT? Power mauls are STR7 - kinda useful
  14. Most of the top "marine" lists at the LVO seemed to include a large number of guardsman squads with a heavy weapon. Guard will be nerfed again until GW stops hearing about them. They have shown their willingness to nerf an army multiple times without any additional feedback (Nerf lag is what I call it). 5pt guardsmen aren't the end of the world, but the cost effectiveness of similar troops (genestealers have cheap guardsmen equivelants) will then be so much better. ***Redacted***
  15. I would point out that a certain Sebastian Yarrick was about to retire when armageddon was invaded by orks. Not a regiment, but I suspect retirement or going home is more of an option for officers than most guardsmen
