  1. Cheers, guys! Regarding the Slaughterpriest, it is such a strange model, in many ways: The scale and anatomy seem so different that it not only stands out from the rest of the Blades of Khorne -- it could almost be from a different line of models or manufacturer altogether. I also nearly did a spit take when I realised that the character's looks is basically almost identical to the "Uber Immortal" from the film "300" (go ahead, google it!) But it is a great source for conversions, with its almost Primarch-like stature, and as we have seen, it works really well as an Eightbound stand-in. Which reminds me, I totally forgot to post another round of pictures of the almost finished model (haven't done any more work on it, though): And here's another look at th "squad" so far (no longer legal by 10th Ed. standards, I gather -- but, frankly, who cares, eh? I have also finally managed to get my hands on the Horus Heresy Praetor witht he double-handed axe, a model I have wanted to convert into a Master of Executions for a while now. When I first came up with the idea, it still felt fresh and wild -- but in the meantime, everybody and their cousin have been using the exact same approach, so I'll have to get creative to end up with a model that still manages to stand out So I am still at the - super-early - moment in time where I just throw around random bitz and try to find out what sticks: As always, let me know what you think!
  2. Cheers, guys! @YannTheMad, Yeah, working with a metal model wouldn't be my first choice either, but that old Archaon model has the distinct advantage of providing an almost Primarch-like stature, and the design is also a pretty great match for Angron -- maybe I can still come up with a clever plastic alternative, but there's something I really like about that metal model, and it's not like I'd use it for anything else, really. In the meantime, I have been building up the back of the kitbashed Eightbound a bit: This area will still require more cleanup and polish once everything is nice and dry, but the general shape is there now. While I was at it, I also added a few bits and bobs to the backpack, in order to bring it in line with the official Eightbound backpacks: As always, let me know what you think!
  3. Excellent work on the acolyte and cultist! You could carefully sponge some silver onto the edges on the fallen Ultramarine's armour to make his armour look even more damaged. As for the cultist's red head, I like that it actually seems ambiguous whether that is some kind of hood or his actual skin, due to your paintjob As for the inclusion of a flayed face, you probably already know this, but the Warcry Unmade box has bitz for a character lifting their skull mask, only to expose a flayed face underneath.
  4. Cheers for the kind words, everyone! I really appreciate it! @Naryn Oh, you are quite right: In fact, I am hard at work on that cowl/backpack situation right now! @Firedrake Cordova That is very kind of you to say! @Grotsmasha Knowing Augs' models, that is a great compliment indeed! In the meantime, here's a little something I don't believe I have already shared over here: There’s another conversion that has been on my mind ever since I realised that one of the Eightbound chest armour pieces is conspicuously reminiscent of Angron’s own armour — maybe another version of the Lord Primarch might be in order…?! In fact, it’s absolutely baffling to me how almost nobody seems to have considered the Eightbound kit as a source of a possible plastic Angron conversion so far — except, of course, for the true master of Angron conversions, REG, who is already hot on the case…
  5. Thanks, @Pearson73! Yeah, I think it kinda works, in context: The Slaughterpriest version has a very gladiatorial look to it, which is definitely a good fit for a World Eaters army. That being said, I have seen some conversions of the model where it never really ended up looking enough like an Astartes due to the difference in build -- the Eightbound parts are pulling a lot of weight in that respect! So anyway, here's another update on the kitbashed Eightbound, as things are really getting serious: The build has been cleaned up even further -- it probably doesn't look like too big an improvement, but that'll change in a minute when we take a look "under the hood", so to speak. Before we do that, let me point out the one area that will still need a tremendous amount of fine tuning: The back of the model: As you can see, the backpack is still only being held in place with a blob of poster tac. But I have already built up the beginnings of the GS work that will form a more natural, if warped-looking, point of attachment, to match the general look on the rest of the models. Let's take the armour off for a minute, though, to show you what I did with the neck and shoulders: I was feeling slightly clever, so I made a quick GS copy of some actual Eightbound shoulders and spliced them in. The stock slaughterpriest neck portion was carefully shaved away directly above the pectorals, and the Eightbound shoulders and neck - which turned out to be an almost perfect fit - were added on top. Granted, it's not perfect, but it's certainly a lot better than anything I could have sculpted from scratch! I also wasn't super-neat about the areas where the arms attach, seeing how most of this would end up being covered by the shoulder pads. That being said, if it looks very wonky in the pictures, that's because the arms are still loose -- I will keep the model in separat parts for as long as I can, as that should make the painting process a lot easier. And like I said, those seams will be hidden underneath the pauldrons anyway, so there's no need to make things to stressful for myself As always, let me know what you think!
  6. Cheers, guys! @YannTheMad Yeah, the leg armour is the one area where the model obviously diverges from "true" Eightbound -- that and the Slaughterpriest is an almost ridiculously lean model to begin with, but at least it's easy enough to suitably bulk up his upper half...
  7. Cheers for the kind words, everyone! And seeing how you all seem to really dig the latest, Slaughterpriest-based Eightbound kitbash, here's an update on that model, as I have been putting a bit more work into it. There's still a ton of work (especially GS work) to be done, but the build itself has been noticeably cleaned up now, and I think I have also come up with a pretty promising approach for that "toothy" cowl behind the head. Take a look: And here's another comparison shot with a "proper" Eightbound -- I think the kitbashed guy measures up rather nicely, to be honest. This is still very much about figuring out the basic build, by the way: The detail work, added skulls and tweaks will come later... As always, let me know what you think!
  8. In my heart of hearts, I want to say the Esske head is just a teeny, tiny fraction too big, but miraculously, wonderfully it somehow all seems to come together completely alright?! Must be the powers of chaos at work... This is definitely on the fast track to being an absolute standout model. Fantastic work all around! I am very much looking forward to seeing this guy painted -- especially looking forward to seeing if you manage to make the face evil enough
  9. Careful with the Unmade masks, though -- depending on your conversions, they mayb be just a tad too small for Marines, as I have found out to my own chagrin lately...
  10. Really liking that Dark Apostle build...except maybe for that Crozius: It seems just a bit too unwieldy (and slightly goofy) to me, although that is certainly a matter of taste. In any case, it seems to be VERY crooked, so I would suggest pinning it or, if pinning should not be an option, gluing it on at a straight angle. On the matter of skull helmets, I'd definitely suggest the Corpsegrinder Cults as an additional source of suitable heads, especially if you are trying to use as many unique designs as possible.
  11. What I love about this project is how those models really read as individuals with a distinct personal history: It would be interesting to hear their stories, which I think is a great quality in a model. The legionary with the twin knives really stands out to me as a particularly cool character, although the tweaked gunners and Aspiring Champion are also really cool. The one thing I don't get is your affection for that somewhat outdated CSM helmet with the slightly skull-like faceplate: I think there are tons of more interesting options around these days In any case, though, very cool work so far!
  12. Cheers for the comments, everyone! I really appreciate it! @Grotsmasha Definitely! And while I have been a converter and kitbasher for most of my hobby life, I feel myself being drawn towards just re-building what is described in the instructions sheet, which feels like dangerous complacency on my part That being said, I think it really wouldn't hurt for GW to advertise how relatively modular these kits still are -- this used to be an advantage in a kit, after all, right?! @Gederas Cheers, man! That is a VERY fair question, and one I may not even have a good answer to, because I love the fact that those models have fully realised & detailed bare torso pieces! I think it ultimately comes down to the fact that I really like the armoured bulk of them when they are fully geared up AND the fact that these are basically intended to replace my old Possessed, which were also fully armoured, yet had grotesquely swollen (or mutated) arms: I think the Eightbound, as I have built them, really work pretty well as an update for the original squad, wouldn't you agree? @YannTheMad Yeah, helmeted versions would be a cool next step. I have to be honest, though: I really love the fully realised, dreadlock-style Butcher's Nails on these, as well as the slightly demonic faces, so I really wanted to keep them visible on the first three models. And given the fact that my next addition to the squad would be some converted Possessed CSM (most of whom ARE wearing helmets), I thought it would be cool to keep the heads bare on the first few models. @Prim @Pearson73 @BadgersinHills Cheers, guys! Meanwhile, I have been messing around with some of the leftover bitz: Right now, this is just the loosest, earliest mockup you could possibly imagine, but I think there may be something there: As you can see, I combined an AoS Slaughterpriest body with some leftover Eightbound parts, and I do think the general look so far is rather promising. As always, let me know what you think!
  13. The concept of Sarum's Tech-Priests with their lamprey mouths has always seemed so weird and off-kilter to me, but you have really done a fantastic job turning that bit of background lore into a creepy, very chaotic and yet strangely regal model! I also love how you have managed to make most of the model decidedly un-like the stock Fabius Bile -- only the Chirurgeon backpack, but that will always end up looking like...the Chirurgeon backpack. Fantastic work all around! If I have one suggestion, it would be to maybe add some smaller runes and alchemic symbols to the red robe, as an additional sign of how far the Magos Biologis has fallen during their pursuit of forbidden knowledge. Both the standard CSM and new World Eaters decal sheets have quite a few of runes and symbols that would work really well, I think!
  14. Phew, that's a relief! That model is still basically my gold standard for a Khornate Terminator Lord! As for the PM's, uhhh...yeah, it turns out I was using 101% of my storage space. I am back down to 99%, so it should work now...
