  1. Downside is that you don’t have Fury of the Lost as a secondary - sad face
  2. So my reply apparently got deleted...weird. So one of the issues I had with impulsors was my cargo - it was a judiciar (to make up for the fight last) and BG. They just weren't nearly as killy or tanky as I needed them to be. As far as suppressors went, in 8 games they did precisely...nothing. Maybe it was because I hid them too much, but needing line of sight to turn off the overwatch - that only applies on infantry - was too much of a restriction. Maybe I'm just not a good player though haha
  3. Mort - I played in the US Open in KC recently with something vaguely similar…and got owned. Mostly by nids and Tsons, and grey knights. I had a similar thought with the impulsor and I’ve got to say it was one of my biggest regrets. I would drop them and instead put Dante back in for that Cp and those rerolls (or a priest). the eliminators are a solid backfield choice but I would also consider a WW for fights last/ignore overwatch. I took suppressors to turn off overwatch on flamers…and wished I had a WW instead haha. Anyways, that’s my 2 cents!
  4. That’s fantastic mort! I was very interested in your breakdown - especially secondaries. How did the attack bikes and atv perform for you? Do you think ass marines would’ve worked as well/better?
  5. I think it depends on how you use them. With relentless assault plus some other kind of forward threat (DC or drop pod) that is one more unit the enemy has to screen out or risk giving up significant points. Plus they can come down and either perform an action or even threaten an objective. I think they have a lot of potential utility
  6. First blush is that Dante is almost auto-include. Especially since you can make him your warlord without taking his trait - so you get a free CP and a chapter master. I think things like selfless healer and rites of war are invaluable now - as well as a relic like wrath of Baal. Astorath with a built in D3 weapon that he can natively buff to D4 is also quite tasty now.
  7. I ran him last weekend in a couple of games. I dropped might and ran him with psychic scourge. Ran him with one of my sang guard squads. He absolutely ruined some folks days - mortal wound spam and turning off invulns was fantastic.
  8. Mort, been thinking about your list and this game a bunch - while also musing list construction and watching new knights batreps. The thing I’ve noticed most about tau is that high powered low volume shots are not effective and that single units (like dreads) get obliterated. As I’m sure you’ve noticed as well. One thing I’ve thought as a counter to one of these problems is a jump libby with null zone. Obviously it isn’t a guarantee, but could absolutely swing things in your favor if it works.
  9. How precisely does one find out about these things without goonhammer telling you? I’d love to be able to find out faster lol
  10. I disagree mort. Sang guard get +1 to hit from the warlord. Quake bolts give it to anyone attacking the felled target. Astorath with mass and Ancient to round out. True on the exploding 6’s though. So I guess it depends on your list construction. But passing out 2s to hit is fairly easy and all those units were already things I was running - and only got better with the update. Food for thought!
  11. My issue with BH/WWoR is that it is fairly easily duplicated within our lists as is - so I can effectively get those benefits AND +1 to wound and charge. But cheers on the work!
  12. After the Armor of Contempt update, I think DC are in an even better spot. I had been running a group of 5 with TH in almost all my lists successfully (won a local tourney a few months ago and only lost in the last six-ish months to Drukhari and pre-nerf Orks). Now though I plan on running a 5 man squad with TH but then a 10 man squad with chainswords and two with power fists (how I have them modelled). Just moving them into cover now makes them incredibly survivable, especially with the ability to plus up their FNP. They have always been kill-y, but even against mirror matches the weight of dice available to them is still very significant. I think along with Sang guard, they are our biggest winners in the update.
  13. Glad to hear it! I’m tinkering further as well - looking at dropping the VanVets for another redemptor
  14. What are you currently running? I primarily use firstborn, except for troops, so I don't know if that necessarily is your issue - but you are certainly handicapping yourself if you are only running tacticals as your troops. Incursors and assault intercessors are simply superior choices. If you are deadset on not running primaris, then I'd probably recommend a vanguard detachment. Run a mix of a chapter master, Astorath, lots of MSU DC w/ hammers, an ancient, sang guard, and attack bikes w/ MM. The key to overcoming the invulns and FNPs is weight of fire and massed effects. Concentrate your forces but not until the time is right - usually T3.
