  1. At one point Abnett was compiling (or asking other people to compile) a database of all the tattoos the tanith have!
  2. Does it have a lot of dreamlike mystical scenes? John French has a few of those in his books.
  3. Adrian Tchaikovsky is an incredible author and I read almost everything he puts out. But that was a bit spoiled by the fact he was rude to me for no reason on twitter once when I told him I thought he was great.
  4. Sum of its parts was an excellent short story. Rhuairidh James has left twitter, which is a shame as his account was very entertaining and full of great 40k content. I'd love to hang out with him some day. He seems pretty cool.
  5. Reminder to myself. Never annoy Nephaston.
  6. I doubt it's an internal rule. I'd say he just doesn't have time. He used to talk about how slowly he wrote and how he found it a painstaking process.
  7. A ministorum character perhaps?
  8. Criticism of his extremely long run on sentences?
  9. About 50% of the way through, and I have to say I am not a fan. It's a Night Lords book about Night Lords things, so if you are a fan of torture porn it might be for you. The characters seem a lot less fleshed out than ADBs characters. They seem like cartoon characters in comparison. Most of the Nightlords are just a name, although many are introduced with a specialisation at the start. At any point if one other than the main character or second in command appears (usually just to be killed off quickly) I find myself asking "Who is this again"? The characters dont appear to have any personality beyond "Night Lord". I find it very hard to root for the protaganist. He does horrible things for little to no reason. I get he's a Night Lord and this is how they act. But I'm able to root for plenty of other baddy protaganists from Walter White to Talos Valcoran. This guy I have little sympathy for. Very early on in the book he starts torturing and killing some civilians, essentially to blow off steam. ADB would have handled that a lot better. I'm sad to say there's a decent chance I wont finish this book.
  10. Finding it hard to tell the Night Lord characters apart in remnant blade. I also find it hard to have much sympathy for the protagonist
  11. That leaves open a nice grim dark story of a Night Lord targeting fat people because they have more skin and a harder time getting away.
  12. The old necromunda (I'm not familiar enough with the more recent version) was heavily themed around cowboys. The theme did not show up in the models, but did in the spirit of the game. There were a lot of outlaws and homesteads and things of that nature.
  13. There's a bit in this that seems like a direct copy of an iconic scene in the Astartes fan films. This scene
  14. That's something I noticed too actually. The characters are introduced by their specialisation. So and so is the sniper, so and so has the melta, etc etc. It made them feel like toys.
  15. I'm reading the Remnant Blade now, based off recommendations here. The characters feel a lot more cartoony than ADBs Nightlords. I miss his take on CSM. It made them seem so real.
