I'm about a quarter of the way in so far. There are a lot of interweaving storylines. Here's a rough spoiler version for those asking

When It comes to chaos gods I prefer the approach that there's a big 4 but an almost infinite amount of smaller gods too.

Jurgens looks a less WW2 Soviet than the old Ice Warriors. Maybe it's a sign they're coming with a new design.

So sick. Having his gun in a holster is a clever move. In the books he uses a laspistol. In the book covers he always uses a bolt pistol. The fans have rationalised this as the book covers being in universe propaganda. I think that's a deliberate choice by the sculptor. I do think the smug look on the model makes it look more like the in universe propaganda hero of the Imperium Cain, rather than the self daunting character Cain. They should have done this years ago. Even though Commissars are the Primaris lt of guard models this is one I've wanted for ages.

They're metal. Does that mean they've been sitting around gathering dust for a decade, or have they recently been cast?

There's a lot going on and I dont understand most of it. But then again I was the same with Dune. Yeah, its good.

To be fair the vast majority of the new terms are obvious in context, and are mostly swearwords. Drokkin' love a good Sci-Fi swear word.

A small complaint about the kindle version. The book uses many many different povs and switched between them frequently. On the kindle sometimes there isn't a gap when a pov changes. This is usually when a page is turned. As a result you can think a character is doing something, but it's actually someone else. If they'd formatted it slightly better that problem wouldn't exist. Otherwise enjoying this. Its pretty rich.

Very early into it. It needs a thesaurus. It's not full of samaragdine harpagons, but he's made up a lot of vocab. I suppose the slang localises it to a particular place. I don't mind it at all, but I can see it attracting comments.

Just bought Hive. I get a message on my kindle saying download is taking longer than expected. I've never gotten that before. Maybe it's a sign of the length of the book.

More mysteries is more better. The Heresy series cleared up a lot of old mysteries, and often the stories we got weren't as good as the mystery giving rise to them.
