The idea of a marine malevolent being the groups apothecary is actually kind of amusing.

Yeah all fair. After all their motto is "hate is the surest weapon". They do what needs to be done, and aren't nice doing it. Edit: I'm willing to play any class really, the simpler the better. Whatever is needed.

Here's how I see Marines Malevolent. I've thought about them a lot as I did a the previous black library open submissions about them. 1. They're how marines actually are. We hear a lot about how soldiers are heroes, but many soldiers are bastards. I'm sure this is especially the case where you are a transhuman. These guys are super ruthless and callous, but not stupid. I'm sure loads of marines talk of honour, but when you strip away the propaganda I'm sure the vast majority of chapters would do the same thing they do. 2. They're under equipped and have been since they were attacked by allies at badab. This forces them to doing things which costs them potential allies. 3. They still follow the rules of Nikea and hate librarians. They're probably quite old school in their outlook. I dont think Marines Malevolent actively seek out conflict with other chapters. The a*hole thing might be overly memed. They dont like pyskers though. That might be a source of conflict. Its baked into their lore- not something I came up with. I dont want to be one of those players who stabs other PCS in the back cos "Its what my character would do".

Here is my submission. I'm open to feed back and criticism. It didnt make it through, maybe with feedback I will next time. The characters were Horus and Captain Tycho, and the setting was Armageddon. The rage Being dead would be better than this. I shook my head. It did little to clear the clouds of rage, and nothing to clear the clouds of ash that surrounded me. The last Ork bombardment had thrown up kilometre high plumes of the stuff, reducing visibility to just over spitting distance. I tried to raise my command squad on comms. “This is Captain Tycho. Respond.” I heard nothing but wind, ordinance, and screaming. Nothing new. “This is Captain Tycho to Sergeant Ottichelli. Report squad status following bombardment”. If anything, the screaming got louder. Well then. If the Emperor couldn’t go the throne, then the throne must go to the Emperor. I set off to find my squad out and make my displeasure known. I was in a residential district. A faded poster on a nearby wall told me to “Visit Beautiful Hades: Home of the Heroes!”. Hades Hive was dead. A crater now for months. I had reached an abandoned tavern named “the Ash Wastrel” when I saw him. At first I thought it might be an Orkish leadership beast. The frame looming through the gloom was larger even than a brother in terminator armour. Horus. The Archtraitor. A monster from prehistory. “WHY DID YOU BETRAY US HORUS”. The scream ripped through me, coming from my soul more than my mouth. I charged. I would kill him. He had turned on my father. His claw sprang out to meet me. Bloodied feathers flew as it smashed into my chest. “Stay down captain” he sneered, His voice was distorted as if coming from another universe. The Warmaster stood over me, studying me as if I was some specimen on a slab. I threw myself again at the greatest traitor in the history of humanity. We went flying knocking barstools flying from the bridge consoles. I threw a punch that demolished a jukebox on the gunnery station when he ducked. He threw me, sparks flew from the command deck of the Vengeful Spirit when I landed. My wings did nothing to cushion the slide. “You have no what you are doing” “I AM GOING TO KILL YOU TRAITOR.” I shouted “HERE ON THE BRIDGE OF YOUR FLAGSHIP.” This time he came at me. A fist lashed out breaking my nose and denting my mask. “Stay Down” he commanded. This was the last command he ever gave. He raised his fist again. I ducked under and got my hands around his neck. I kicked back and used momentum to knock him to the floor. I landed on top of him strangling all the while. His lips moved but I didn’t care to decipher what he had to say. His face purpled. Veins in his eyes burst, filling his sclera with blood, matching the symbol on his chest. Even as he grew still I increased my grip in fury. He died.

The font would work if they made the rest of the cover look like a piece of armour. It just doesnt work on this cover, and kind of makes it look like a book aimed at teens. Book covers that look like armour could be cool. Especially if it was designed to look like a Marine Pauldron.

Mark Collins is a frater and seems a very nice guy. He's very helpful to people here. I like the cover on the nightlords book but the font for the title is a bad choice. A night lords novel is going to have big boots to fill following ADB.

Your story has to be based on GW miniature. Tom Cruise is miniature generally but I dont think he's one of theirs.

Oh, I'd be tempted to play a marine malevolent. Either a tactical marine or a devastator.

Graham McNeilln is writing for trench crusade? A novel or flavour text? I'd love to read it. Are any other BL authors writing for it?

New book coming out by R. S. Wilt. Don't know anything about him, not even what R. and S. stand for. I'm always a bit suspicious of authors who go by initials. Yours- G. R. Ailkeeper

If the decree is written after the Emperor was enthroned, then who wrote it? Can't have been him or Malcador. Can't imagine anyone else with that level of authority. Valor would be the only one who might come close and I can think of a bunch of reasons why it's not him.
