  1. Repulsor Crusader? I mean, we saw that pintle-mounted MM, just throw out the high impact shots and make it all DAKKA :D
  2. I'd argue the tabbard needs a bit of creme, so either hit it with ushabti bone or get more light grey in there and shade it. Considering the grey highlights, they look a bit off on the shield because there's some detail left in black. On the actual armor it looks strong and clean. So get in there, get Mr. Skellington in bone color, pick the metal rings out, give those seals and the scrolls a bit of light grey/white and seraphim sepia. Do the same with the base, maybe get a crazy color on that cracked column. For the white part of the shield leave the more central part in a light grey and try to get an edge highlight with pure white, should make it contrast better. If after all that you still think the highlights are off, there's nothing wrong with getting a bit of thinned down black or darker grey to correct that. I find myself spending more time on correcting edge highlights with darker tones or washes, after putting them there sloppily :P Also keep in mind that photos often overemphasize contrast, especially when using flash. Finally, this is quite a bit nitpicky. That model looks totally fine, if that is the level you want to go for. We've all seen far worse, and the part i like the most is the heraldry shield on the chest. That's some fine brushwork!
  3. there's no shame there, taste is subjective and everyone is entitled to their own. Which clearly makes you an abhorrent abomination for liking sucha disgrace that dares to claim the title of artwork. I'm kidding ofc. Or am I?
  4. Thanks for sharing your work! Immediate thoughts: Inquisitors should be exempt from the Abhor the Witch rule, and vows i feel should have a limitation, not only bonuses (eg suffer not: attack closest enemy unit on a failed morale, uphold the honor: can't benefit from cover, abhor the witch: must shoot/charge/attack psykers whenever possible, accept any challenge: cannot fall back from combat). Therefore maybe lose no pity? Anyways, i like these, and will try them if i get the chance!
  5. To me there is nothing wrong with bearing a banner of an accomplished crusade to battle. Helbrecht has bygone crusades on his personal banner, too, iirc. Grimaldus hauls the ruins of Helsreach around. Or has them hauled. So, if that is a crusade the brothers fought in and succeeded in, there is nothing wrong with letting the enemy know what they're in for.
  6. Beautiful minis, can't wait to see you expand your crusade!
  7. A Crusader squad that mixes Primaris with squat marines would be A-MAZ-ING. Doubt it'll happen (see Deathwatch kill teams), but it would delight my heart.
  8. Am i seeing this right, that our Initiates cost 15pts, vs 18pts for everyone else's tac marines? Because then, hell yeah, BLACKTIDE!!! ZEAL INTENSIFIIIIIEEEEESSSSSS! ZEEEEAAAL! yes, i'll get myself together. Just had a... special moment ^^
  9. Wonderful minis, the most impressive to me are the helmets on the Bladeguard and those lances, very well done! Gotta give it to Brother Carpenter though, (and channel the inner Firepower ;) ) a drilling of barrels must be had.
  10. So, after my broken arm healed off for the most part, i’m starting to get back into hobbying. I allowed myself an Impulsor for my Bladeguard to ride in (and devout push out of! ) and started assembling it yesterday. Will be done by tonight i guess. So i mused a bit while working from home, how i would go about expanding my crusade further. I intend not to buy more squat marines, as i have a sizeable collection, lots of bits and a few legs left and still some backlog to paint up (though i go easy on myself on that part, seeing as most of them will be guarding the chapter keep at Shelve Prime…). Next on the wishlist is a Redemptor Dreadnought as well as more Bladeguard, as soon as that kit pops up for sale and the FLGS can open again. I didn’t start writing any particular lists i want to build towards yet, so i’m thinking more along the lines of units working well together as building blocks of the greater whole (e.g. a 10man squad of Assault Intercessors with a Primaris Chaplain to preach of Divine Protection or aforementioned Bladeguard and their Impulsor). And that’s where i’d like some advice, what have you fine people found out works for you? I got to play two games at 1k points of 9th, i’m starved for rolling some dice and when i finally will be allowed to, i want to hit the ground running For some more info, i’ll add the Primaris units i have so far: Indomitus (Captain, Lieutenant, Chaplain, Bladeguard + Ancient, Justiciar, 10 Assault Intercessors, 3 Outriders, 3 Eradicators) 10 regular Intercessors plus some spare swordbrethren for different options 2 Primaris Lieutenants (one with Powersword, one with boltrifle) 1 Impulsor Immediate wishlist: Redemptor, more Bladeguard Also, i will update on painting progress, once there is some more to show off over the coming holidays and mandatory vacation! As an afterthought, i find it hard to come up with an army composition that unites old marines with Primaris. On the one hand i don't just want to plug in a unit of terminators or a dreadnought, while everything else is new generation. In my headcanon the Primaris are their own fighting company deployed to reinforce and fight alongside the original crusade. I really want to explore the lore around old battlebrothers including the new arrivals, especially when it comes to hierarchy and veterancy. Anyone here that uses a mix of old and new units and has some solid fluff to show for it?
  11. IF we get a new upgrade sprue i hope it's more than these five model kits we've seen so far. The bits are so few and far between. The BT upgrade sprues of old made you bleed money extra to bling your crusaders out, but they had loads of bits that, when spread out, could be used to templarify severals models, a dread and a rhino (chassis). I remain pessimisticially optimistic, hope for the best but prepare for the worst...
  12. That's some grimdark in the grim dark, love it!
  13. They sure do. The crusade though, is not limited to Indomitus. The crusade is eternal. :D Welcome aboard!
  14. I run a chaplain up behind a 10man unit of tactical terminators, giving them the 5+ fnp is huge. Allows me to use their shooting from t1. Switching to reroll hits (and +1 attack if i fancy a MoS) once melee ensues helps those fists out a lot. It's just sweet :D
  15. There's posts on BT heraldry in the resources thread: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/93911-black-templars-resources/?p=3738429 May this help you and welcome to the eternal crusade ;)
