  1. Honestly DC, it's only thanks to you and Punishing Pete almost spelling it out in Black & White in the other Audio Book thread that made me realise i can save myself a boat load of cash via Audible! After i re-purchased Helsreach @ £2.99 the other day i then signed up to their £7.99 subscription service... 1 free book a month... no strings attached... and the first months subscription is free??? Yes sir, I'm all over that!! which seems a mile better than the price range at BL main site. Subscription plan seems to apply a very economy options to your wallet.
  2. The last son was indeed better than the 'Restorer'. But the last one had a lot of amazing tidbits you gonna like. But in general - it views and descriptiveness what makes it amazing. Because from the point of events - nothing 'really' happens in it. As for the Siege of Terra - I suggest to use that only for the 'Siege of the Imperial Palace on (Terra)' if we are talking about 3 books. In that case I think 3 books for The Palace siege is enough. If we are talking events unfolding all over the planet - Emperors Children's transgression, Nurgle blight, Imperial citizens view on the Apocalypse outside - they do take 1-2 books to cover. Plus in general war around Lion Spaceport WS vs DG is going outside the 'Siege of the Imperial Palace' too. And even before that we have 1-2 books at least to cover the war over Solar outskirts, Saturn, Luna, getting to the orbital drop positions over the Terra. It's a long grinding way. Plus we have Mars to tackle with etc.
  3. Which was a diviation from their usual tactic. Both prefer to spare human resources as much as possible. Rangdan was a massive apocalyptic warfare - Imperium was losing. They did not have a choice. AL on the other hand - always look for conflicts then where should be none. They 'masterminded' wars just to prove themselves - doesn't matter the casualties. I have never read or hear of the Alpha Legion inventing or 'masterminded' conflicts. There is simply no need to invent anything, there are plenty of foes to prove themselves against. Obvious or otherwise. What they got a reputation for it to be needless creativity in their prosecuting a foe. Actually all FW Horus Heresy books at the sections where AL is figured states that Alpha Legion invent half or the conflicts just to prove the point, instead of peacefully resolve it. Most of all you need to read book 3 'Extermantion' which covers AL backstory and conflicts. There are a lot of 'that' where. As for the BL part - John French 'Praetorian of Dorn' novel has one of the chapters in which Dorn and Alpharius discuss one particular conflict that was planned to be resolved for good with a definite plan, but went full over the head with the AL plan (cause AL think it was a better way to resolve it). In every book which has AL > almost every author mention concerning AL: 'Your biggest issue is Pride'.
  4. Selection of audible seems to be a direct choice for the UK auditory. It seem that for the rest of EU or outside it > the main distributor is a BL site
  5. Indeed. I was always curious to the model of distribution then 3rd party service (in this case audible) provide same titles but cheaper than the main provider. All the titles are indeed cheaper than at blacklibrary.com
  6. As for the heraldics: - Sergeants have red transverse crests. - Veteran Sergeants have red-and-black striped transverse crests. - Lieutenants have red-and-black striped longitudinal crests. - Captains have white longitudinal crests. - The First Company has the trident marking on their helmets, like in my avatar. A lot of them also have it tattooed on their faces, in red or white ink. That's a very throughout investigation into the heraldy and structure made by A D-B. Point is - I'm curious how plumes would be effecient in the warfare (especially in the muggy or dusty area). Even with all the wargear and optics - they wouldn't be very visiable through the fog and level of dust. A D-B partly covered that point in 'Betrayer', but not fully.
  7. Splendid points :) Even big bad me like 'Lorgar' 'to the point'. Through I dislike Primarch serie. Lorgar is based on 3 concepts: zeal, idolatry and faith.
  8. One of the best stories of zealotry and idolatry mixed in one bag and burned to ashes on the steps to Godhood. I think that covers it in general ;)
  9. sorry, my intermediate level of English depends on how tired I'm. I meant Mor and Haar are bad for the forces they fight with and their 'good' is definitely in the very grey area. Horus forces and guys like Haar are both 'bad' cases for different reasons

  11. I hope you prepared not 'comforting' messages for the interview too? Cause a little bit of critic will do wonders to the author next book.
  12. Shall I delete my threads about Ruinstorm and Old Earth? dear mr hopkins - my response was not in that thread - it was merged from another thread which was something like let's discuss 'Fulgrim'.
  13. I would doubt FW will produce 20 black books. I think it will be more like 10 to 12. I know they said 20 but the fire has largely left the heresy I can see the seige and aftermath reigniting it for a short time but the focus has very strongly shifted back onto 40k. I don’t want too many books around the siege, anymore than 3 will turn it into a dakka dakka fest. A scene setting, a battle and an aftermath will do nicely. 3 books are not enough. It will be just gliding over surface. 5-6 will do it. Too much stuff to cover.
  14. Point is - it was a comparison of 'characters' - evil guys to good guys who are in the 'grey' area with a big sinking into the evil side. Not as to the proportion of evilness. 'Bottom line, most sound-minded people shouldn't want to be anywhere near Endryd Haar but that in no way means they should think of Horus as somehow better.' - yes, what I meant is that it's better not be near any of them at all. They are both 'bad' cases for different reasons
