Servant of Dante's Achievements

  1. I haven't been active on the B&C in forever but I wanted to say hi even though I don't have much to contribute :D This is a really cool project. I think about the original thread for this project periodically. Iirc there was some fan fic in there about Tlatia dueling Sanguinius? Maybe I'm thinking of something else but it's a shame the original thread seems to be gone. (Also yes the whole female primarch thing does something for me as a trans woman) Edit: actually I do have a thought, since there's gender going on here. Statistically there will be female space marines. As in some space mariens will be trans (whether or not they are allowed to be open). This might be outside the scope of your project but with the Dawn Legion already having a female primarch, well it seems like something interesting to think about.
  2. I know this is a massive thread necro but for some reason I got a google drive notification that someone was requesting access to an old pdf of my Erelim rules. Instead of just accepting that one request I thought I'd post a more recent version of the request. I've been thinking a bit more about 40k in the last week or so anyway. I haven't worked on this particular codex in a while (it's about 3/4 done and has been for like a year) but here's how I had the Erelim stated out there. To be honest, I wouldn't trust me to point cost them correctly anyway so use your best guess if you are going to use these rules for some reason, but I had them at 20ppm + the cost of their special weapons which were the same as for a BSS (a praesidium was going to be +2ppm). Also note that I was not going to allow Rhinos or Immolators to transport Erelim. Note that Acts of Faith are significantly different in my homebrew (they're an evolution of the 3.5E Witch Hunters dex system) and shield of faith is a bit different but it shouldn't be a big deal to just use this stat block with the current GW dex. Not sure that they really fill a role in the army though since they can't be in transports and paragon warsuits exist. See also the stratagem for them to use, although again this was written in the context of the stratagems I am including in my homebrew codex but I think it's interesting regardless.
  3. Thanks for the clarification, Adelard and taikishi. That’s marginally better than I thought, but still seems needless to me from a fluff perspective. As far as a justification for a Sisters PE (if you absolutely have to have one) I guess it’s not as bad as it could be :D Edit: but given all that, how in the heck are they A ) trusted with heavy weapons, and B ) still shooting at BS 3+? :P While Repentia may be more fresh recruits, I’d assume you don’t end up taking the Oath of the Penitent as a Novice, so you’re still not fresh out of the Schola. That’s just my view on it though. I’d say more but I’m already getting off the topic of Mortifiers.
  4. Repentia can be actual transgressions or just volunteers because of personal feelings of failure. I had the impression that Mortifiers were fluffed as being Sisters who did something worse than just small personal failings, and that the optional Squad Leader models are Sister Superiors who betrayed their unit. However, I’ve not had a chance to get the codex yet so maybe I’m mistaken. I know this thread is more about rules but if someone could straighten me out on the fluff for them I’d appreciate it :D The idea that there’s enough Sister Superiors doing that and getting caught and not immediately executed for the Adepta to have a whole separate name for them is silly imo. Even more silly than the idea of Mortifiers existing when Repentia already do. :P Immediate Edit: I should clarify I’m just salty about GW fluff for Sisters recently (I have a very specific headcanon I suppose) and I absolutely don’t fault anyone for enjoying Mortifiers or their fluff implications just because I personally have some concerns.
  5. ^that too! That’s a really good point. You could hand wave it and say she had multiple sets, but it seems weird that her super fancy set would be lost in a crypt below some old chapel when she was clearly buried in a set of armour. It seems they didn’t even keep the fancy set for use, it was on display (or in a crypt). Unless for some reason she died wearing a regular set of armour and not her fancy set and her body was lost somewhere until it was found recently . . . which is again strange.
  6. It’s absolutely fine :D i wasn’t sure whether you had caught what I’d said so I wanted to clarify more.
  7. Isn't it because they recently recovered her body & shield? All the others are either long-entombed or literally missing as in the case of Argent Shroud's patron. So they're parading around the recent find to restore the faith of those who see it. In fact, the rules are generic enough you could definitely paint it up as Dominica, and say that the success of the first processional was so great they started parading around the other bones too. Ah, that would make it make more sense. Id heard about the shield but didn’t even know her body was missing in the first place, I thought it was only Silvana. Must be new fluff :D I wouldn't paint it as Dominica because I don’t like to re-fluff unit’s. Just like I don’t use named characters because it doesn’t make sense for them to be at all these minor battles with my army, and I’m not going to use a named character’s rules for any person other than that named character.
  8. The Triumph model is super cool, though I’d probably cannibalize it for individual models. I’m a little annoyed that out “non-Order specific” LoW is so tightly tied thematically to the OML. If they were to parade a skeleton around and say “this is representative of all Orders Militant” then why would you pick Katherine rather than Dominica? I guess it’s because her order changed their name to the “Order of Our Martyred Lady” but it’s not like all the other Founding Saints weren’t Martyrs too.
  9. This is the third time I’ve said this in this thread, including in the post you just responded to, but yes, the Ministorum pays the Mechanicus to repair holy relics that are too complex for them to repair themselves. :D If (for example) the Mace of Valaan were to get damaged, the Minsitorum would likely have to go to the Mechanicus and pay them to repair it, since it’s a power weapon (and so somewhat complex). The explanation given in the past is that this payment has been made in money from the Ecclesiarchal coffers (presumably received in tithes and donations from the faithful).
  10. I doubt that the Mechanicus would let non-members of their cult repair truly important archaeotech, in fact the Ministorum has to go pay the Mechanicus to repair more complex holy relics it has like I mentioned before. Also apparently they’re retconning poor Morben the Devout with this Writ Illuminat (or at least minimizing his role) since before the explaination we had for the Ministorum having “the material support of Mars” (and claim to any new technology discovered in the Manufactorum handed over)was: Morben the Devout while leading a group of Frateris Templars on Fornoth during the Icaria crusade found an ancient factory with dark age databanks, and traded it to the Mechanicus. This is where the plans for the Immolator originated (and the Hellhound but the Mechanicus lied about that).
  11. I’d much rather go back and play 7th edition than play 8th without stratagems. The game feels bland enough even with them a lot of the time to me :D Like sfPanzer said, a lot of army flavor got shunted into stratagems this edition.
  12. @Dread you’ve always been able to take 2 special or a special and a heavy in a squad of 5 sisters :D
  13. Of course you only gain 1 Miracle Die in a phase regardless of how many units roll a 1 for Morale(or fulfill any of the other conditions for gaining miracle dice).
  14. Well, the two organizations are linked of course, the Mechanicus supplies the Ministorum with equipment, and also the Ministorum pays out the nose to have technological relics repaired if they're damaged and the Ministorum can't do it themselves (like if some Saint's power sword got broke in half). As for Mechanicus influence on an Order Militant, the Sisters Militant aren't mechanics. I could see local tradition of portraying the Emperor as more machine-like seeping into the convent perhaps, depending on whether you hold to the old fluff that all Sisters are trained either on Terra or Ophelia. If they're not trained on-world they'd come to the Order with an orthodox view of the Emperor, which would limit the effect the Mechanicus themes could have on them I think. Other than that it's probably up to you. Maybe they have access to high quality bionics or something, and aren't quite as hesitant to replace body parts that are damaged but not irreparable with machine parts.
