  1. Might not even have to recut for the Ogryn - each one is on its own sprue in the box (with Nork's pieces spread across the three sprues) which could allow the Ogryn to be customisable.
  2. Not Uriel Ventris, Aeonid Thiel. He appeared in the audio drama Censure by Nick Kyme.
  3. Pretty sure he uses one in both Little Horus and Vengeful Spirit.
  4. Well put - other than the fact that it was Phil Kelly, not Nick Kyme, who wrote that particular atrocity. Looking forward to this one - guessing failure must have had it's consequences given that Areios was a Captain in Throne of Light.
  5. A quick reminder to anyone who wants a taste of what Collins' Eidolon is like that he already has a short story, Primacy, out, which is set between Angel Exterminatus and Path of Heaven, and which I would heartily recommend as a book showing Eidolon's competence. https://www.blacklibrary.com/the-horus-heresy/quick-reads/eshort-primacy-eng-2023.html
  6. I think the story you're looking for is the novella Scorched Earth by Nick Kyme, which you can buy on its own as an Ebook or as part of the 50th Horus Heresy book Born of Flame. Hope that helps!
  7. Having finished the book, I would say that much as in his other books, Haley's own characters (i.e. Cawl) are well-written, whereas characters originating/mainly being written by other authors have a few references paid to them to try and tie them to that author's work, but ultimately it seems as if he had the CliffsNotes version of their characters to work from rather than having actually read the books that were written about them, leading to canon contradictions. *ahem* Maximus Thane suddenly being a Heresy veteran despite the book that introduces him actively contradicting that *ahem* Minor rant over.
  8. I think it's deliberate - none of the Phaedra-related stories or Casts a Hungry Shadow are included in the short stories omnibus, so I'm going to hold out hope that at some point in the future there'll be another collection with all of the missing stories.
  9. Maybe we're getting another novel that follows on from that side of the story, and so they're waiting for that to be released so that they can do another 3 novels. (I can dream okay?)
  10. Looking at the points cost of the Hades Breaching Drill, I'm going to hazard a guess that they're lumped in together with it as one unit.
  11. It's to cater for the Dark Angels Company Master model I'd guess. EDIT - apologies, answering LostTemplar's question about the power fist/bolt rifle combo.
  12. They seem to have the same style of MKIII armour Faffnir Rann had on his model rather than the old MKIII kit, which took after the Forgeworld miniatures. Particularly noticeable on the knees, midsection and backpacks.
  13. I think there's no fixed number of Iron Fathers per clan, other than for Garrsak, which the 8e codex supplement states always only has one Iron Father. We know that Borrgos has at least two according to Eye of Medusa, as Captain Raan represents Iron Fathers Silvus and Breeka in the Eye. We know that some clan companies, but not all, are directly commanded by their Iron Father in lieu of an Iron Captain (such as Vurgaan), which indicates that there is no obligation for the Iron Fathers to lead the company that they are a part of, and that from Kardan Stronos' promotion to Iron Father at the end of Eye of Medusa whilst still a sergeant, Iron Fathers do not have to be captains before they become Iron Father's, which suggests that there could be an innate hierarchy of Iron Fathers within a clan depending on their seniority from before they were Iron Fathers. From the council scene in Eye of Medusa, there were 26 of the 41 present on Medusa, which shows that 15 Iron Fathers were off-world at the time and that a number of the Iron Fathers are Dreadnoughts. From this information, I would theorise that the Iron Fathers have a relatively free range to do what they want - some lead their companies, I'd presume a fair number of the Dreadnoughts spend most of the time sleeping, and in the cases where there is a single Iron Father in command of a company, I would presume that the other Iron Fathers of that clan just do their own thing - as they are all trained Techmarines, I would guess that they just have their own projects that they work on, functioning just like regular Techmarines with a slightly more spiritual/advisory capacity, or they could command elements of the clan when it is divided, or some could be permanent representatives of the Clan on Medusa, or they could even just prefer to spend time on the clan's Land Leviathan and attend to its needs. This is why I actually prefer the 41-member clan council to the old one with just one representative per clan - it makes things much more interesting.
  14. With all of the talk about The End and the Death Volume 1, it feels like this short story has somewhat slipped under the radar. Marc Collins has definitely done his research here and put together a story that, while not essential to the plot of the Horus Heresy, nicely fills in some of the gaps in the story of the Emperor's Children. Summary: Thoughts: Also, as an aside, I notice this is the second short story dedicated to Eidolon in the past couple years, both from different authors - hopefully this is indicative of a potential longer form piece about him in the future! Would definitely recommend picking this up if you're an Emperor's Children fan though - Marc Collins does far better justice to the descriptions of the Emperor's Children than I ever could.
  15. In The Purging of Kadillus, one of the Dark Angels sergeants wields a chainaxe.
