  1. Thanks for the advice! My original idea was for a mechanised Panzork Orkkrieg Army with loads of Meks, killerKans, megadreads Stormboyz and Kommandos etc but with Squiggoths rather than tanks. Then I remembered about Flash Gits. I like the idea of the gargantuan Squiggoth Flash Gits pirate flag ship. I reckon I’ll do the rest of the ‘normal’ Squiggoths as part of my Panzork Orkkrieg Army as Blood Axes. Can’t see where Flashiest Gitz rule can’t be used in transports, is that been FAQ’d somewhere or just in the rules for transports?
  2. I really want to justify buying a / some squiggoths / gargantuan squiggoths. Following some less than spectacular results with my trying-to-be-semi-competitive-and-failing-completely-tyranid army, I’ve decided that I want my next army to just be fun / ridiculous / all or nothing. So squiggoths, many many squiggoths... I also would like some ridiculous weapons, preferably ones that will with do absolutely nothing, obliterate the enemy or just kill me depending on the dice gods. I’m thinking Zzap guns on the squiggoths for starters. Probably Meks with shock attack guns embarked. The more ridiculous the better. I here tractor cannons are fun, but I’m not sure if they might be a bit too reliable... I also want to have a group of Flash gits led by Kaptin Badrukk embarked on a squiggoth like the pirates they are but on a squiggy orkz pirate squiggoth. If I understand correctly you can embark a Mek in mega armour with Kustom Force field on to a squiggoth for a 5+save as a transport? I believe that the gargantuan squiggoth still doesn’t allow mega armour models? Tellyporta: is there anything to stop you tellyporta’ing a squiggoth full of crazy? The strat say embarked troops go as well... maybe full of Tankbustas? Blood Axe Kulture, charge fall back a bit next turn if still alive and then use the stick bombs strat to lob a load of tankbusta granades? Sound suitably ridiculous to me! Suggestions for other sorts of daftness appreciated.
  3. Im must say I am biased to the Atrapos... hence why I have several. I also feel they look the coolest.
  4. I'm currently using two Crusaders one with battle cannon and one with Thermal cannon. I originally ran them with two battle canons for 4 x 5" S8 AP3 however they struggled against forces with 2+ save so I sacrificed number of 5" templates for something that can kill 2+ troops. My force will eventually be: Fire support unit of 3 x Crusaders in a Baronial Court 2 x battle cannons, 1 x thermal cannon. Carapace weapons determined by opponent. Attack force of two Atrapos and 3 Errants in an Exulted court.
  5. Using a couple of small magnets and some green stuff (and some ingenuity) you can even magnetise the front of the missile launcher so you can swap between both. I would magnetise the weapons if you can. I used 8x4mm at the point where it rotates. If you use a 10x2mm or 8x2mm on the inside of the shield you can also mag it so you can swap between the battle canon and the melta canon.
  6. I can't see why not? Using an imperial guard style force with its own unique style to reflect the knight home world in same way the Cadians or Valhallans are of there respective home worlds. If I do a 30k army it will be a Mechanicum force based to represent the Mechanicum forces of the Lucius Forge world in support of the Legio Astorum aligned Mechanicum knight army and titans I'm building.
  7. Unfortunately I dont own the Taghmata book so I wasn't aware there was a difference in the way the rules are written. I've been avoiding buying a copy as I'll then HAVE to build a Mechanicum army!
  8. The reason I queried it is because the Ionic flare sheild uses both the words 'Ionic Flare Shield' and 'Ion Shield' in the rules. [Direct quote from Data sheet] "Ionic Flare Shield When a Cerastus Knight-Atrapos is deployed, and subsequently at the start of each of the opposing side’s Shooting phases, the Cerastus Knight-Atrapos’ controlling player must declare which facing each Cerastus Knight-Atrapos’ ion shield is covering. The choices are front, left side, right side or rear. The Knight has a 4+ invulnerable save against all hits and the strength of any Shooting attack against it is reduced by -1, the effect increasing to -2 if the weapon has the Blast or Template special rules (note however that this strength reduction has no effect on Destroyer or Haywire attacks). Ionic flare shields are repositioned before any attacks are carried out in the Shooting phase and may not be used to make saving throws against close combat attacks." Quoted from: https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/fw_site/fw_pdfs/Horus_Heresy/Cerastus-Knight-Atrapos.pdf Uses Ion sheild in first paragraph and Ionic flare shield in second. EDIT: WRT RAW I suspect that you are correct and that the use of the words Ion shield in the rule is lazy copy and past from another data sheet however it does add ambiguity to the issue and potential wiggle room should one want to argue it on a RAI or individual game basis.
  9. Yeah it was the reference to the ion Sheild in the rule that made me wonder. I'm currently building a Legio Astorum Mechanicum Knight Army to go with my Titan that will eventually total 8 knight however only the first four are in progress. I thought I'd add a little teaser and start a WIP thread if there is sufficient interest. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n161/one_happy_hippy/IMG_6294.jpg
  10. Hi, apologies if you have already seen this on Dakk, I hope you don't mind me asking here as well. I'm sure this will have been answered about a billion times but my google-fu is obviously lacking. I am planning on running a knight army using the Baronial Court formation and incorporating Knight Atrapos. The formation rules state: "Ionic Shieldwall: As long as an Imperial Knight from this Formation is within 6" of one or more other Imperial Knights from this Formation, it adds I to any invulnerable saving throw it makes for its ion shield on the front arc" Does this rule apply to the Atrapos Knights ionic flare shield in the same way it would to a regular knight's ion shield. In the description of the Ionic flare shield it does describe it as an 'ion shield' ("Ionic Flare Shield - When a Cerastus Knight-Atrapos is deployed, and subsequently at the start of each of the opposing side’s Shooting phases, the Cerastus Knight-Atrapos’ controlling player must declare which facing each Cerastus Knight-Atrapos’ ion shield is covering.") I wasn't sure Re: RAW as the ionic flare shield in its description is described as a ion shield and i couldn't remember if the Atrapos was released before or after 7th Ed Imperial Knights codex and thus is this would have been taken in to account. Is there a FAQ for this anywhere? I intend to use the formation in a tournament and would like to get it right. Thanks in advance.
