Dr. Ruminahui, my bases arrived in the mail last week! I've flocked and basecoated the base of one Artillery Team, Excess. Simon and Excess I still need to add washes, drybrushing, and pigment powders. Then I need to paint up the other two. I will do bare bones hobbying to the three artillery bases to get them ready for the December "Merry Slaaneshmas" tournament. Then at some point I'll go back and make each into a desert trench mini-diorama by adding barbed wire, foam, corpses, shell casings, ammo boxes, and signs. I've also recently purchased a GW artillery team giving me a total of four guns so that I can bring at least one gun to events that are GW-miniatures only. Yesterday I finished adding chipped blue paint to Curze's Revenge. Enjoy the photos! Nostroman 9th, "Hell's Horde"

Some of the old (I think defunct) Pig Iron Productions' Kolony heads might work. I just searched up a couple of sales on E-Bay. And you're an artist at buying out of print metal minnies on E-Bay. :) https://www.ebay.com/itm/197796949229?_skw=pig+iron+productions+kolony&itmmeta=01K8GQRK3HCH2JCMDPRGEBF2E0&hash=item2e0d9deced:g:qhoAAOSwkZ9mz2Ts&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA0FkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1cjEZCEjK9qWesA6onKGGxl8h2aQewBt5mT65dVJbsvf%2FzKiqQaM9%2Ba2ZSWumYA7KS3iD0%2FpoJpViRUQe7YLD998k4DePqH26G590USnHuUMdAfg3RiLTMQy%2FtTT8cs0gwepDwuBN4wB%2BQtbmj4fN%2F9v%2BBmh9GFLwbVdyHsRrYZ2qTMY68KXZyDQeAHCHW4uT5sCvAMQYR19TtRm%2Fo0guzuj%2B4a1uyzPvPNAe7wQ9DQ6n9SH4p17qRgKo7DQ9c8Lrs%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_Ky4pfEZg

Dr. Ruminahui, that's a good question. The asymmetric mission was "Denied Resources." I as the defender pretty much had a standard objectives as a primary. The Leagues of Votann as the attacker had a much harder primary: they had to actively hold and objective til the end of my turn and then it was destroyed. But the attacker also got a lot more points for doing so. So the mission was quite dramatic with my forces desperately trying to keep him from destroying objectives. There was lots of fun, back and forth. It reminded me of some of the more dynamic missions from 3rd through 7th.

Hello everyone, A local store, Nomad Games in Edmonds, Washington, is holding another 40K League this autumn. There are 6 games total; 2 at 1,000 points; 2 at 1,500 points; and 2 at 2,000 points. Last weekend I had my 1st game of the league. As you might recall, Nomad held a similar league back in the spring. That league was a blast and I had 1 win, 1 draw, and 6 losses with my Blood Wolves Chaos Marines. This time I'm bringing the Nostroman 9th to the league games. The league will be a nice way for me to practice for the big Ocean Shores tournament in December. Last weekend's game pitted the ne'erdowells of the Nostroman 9th Traitor Guard against the squats of the Leagues of Votan. My opponent was very nice and his army was one of the better-painted armies I've seen. He demonstrated some superb highlighting and stylized weathering as well as a sophisticated understanding of how colors interact with each other. Here are the lists... Leagues of Votann Nostroman 9th Here are some photos of the game and random comments.... This was a really fun "asymmetric mission." His primaries came from moving out, holding objectives, and then destroying them. My primaries came from the standard holding objectives. I forgot the mission name though. The league rewards both players with extra raffle tickets if they both agree to an asymmetric mission. This is a fun twist that helps underscore the casual tone of the league. The board at deployment The snipers of 14th Squad infiltrator forward and the beastment of 15th Squad scoot forward with a scout move Artillery Team Enigma before a fire mission is called in "Engima this is Renegade 1, I have spotted OPFOR on the right. Target is 10 infantry in cover, coordinates are...." Calling in artillery in the US Army sure was fun. I only ever did it on training on field manuevers. Renegade Vanquisher Khorne's Ire waits behind a building I have been using Vanquishers since 3rd edition. They are finally good in this edition. They've never been particularly good in previous editions. It's been a long time in the wilderness. Squad bikers move up Look at that superb OSL, and their leather coats were works of art! Turn 1 photo of the board Renegade infantry on the left flank Hearth Kin about to seize objective Chaos combined arms: armor, artillery, and infantry I rather like the combined arms detachment. During this game I had forgotten that they changed the recycle strat to one use. It's my 2nd game with the guard since they rule came out in 2024. My opponent very diplomatically reminded me of the new once-per-game restriction. This means I cheated and kept recycling guard squads in last month's game. D'oh! Well, I was easily defeated in that game so it didn't matter. :) Eye of Chaos Scout Sentinel vs. Hearth Kin 7th Squad scratches the paint of a Hekaton My opponent used a very well-placed rapid ingress deepstrike of Hearth Guard to kill off the 7th Squad. The squad's dastardly beastmen were about to prevent him from getting his primary for the turn. 1st Squad holds an objective on the left flank My opponent noted that it took a lot of effort to chew through a blob of 27 Traitor Guard. I think in my next league game I'll try out the recon detachment to make it even harder to chew through my blobs. Hearth Guard wipe out 1st Squad Khorne's Ire charges and tank shocks the Hearth Guard and wipes them out, leaving the Einhyr Champion character remaining This was a fun close melee. And it was crucial for the game because he needed to destroy this objective for his primary. Hekaton drops off Steeljacks This sure was a pretty squad. The strategist at the back was buffing the unit. Traitor Guard and Sentinel wipes out the Hearth Kin on the right Leaving the Stormtroopers of 15th Squad to hold the objective Late game effort by the Nostroman 9th to retake their home objective The Champion and Buri Aegnirssen (not pictured) finish off Khorne's Ire Vanquisher and Hekaton square off against each other Both large vehicles spent the game chipping wounds off each other. In the end, the Hekaton won. It was a very enjoyable and fairly close game. In the end, the squats managed to beat the Chaos hordes! He chose his MVP as his Hekaton. I chose Khorne's Ire, my Vanquisher, as my MVP. I think I'll try out the recon detachment in the next game. I hope you enjoyed the photos. Nostroman 9th, "Hell's horde."

Hello everyone, My progress on Curze's Revenge, my Traitor Guard Rogal Dorn Tank Commander, is humming along. Here are some photos Curze's Revenge: Now with Rust! More Renegade Dorn Photos To get ready for a big tournament on the coast in early December, I have embarked on a project to upgrade my Nostroman 9th Traitor Guard from a 7th/8th/9th Chaos Militia force to a Traitor Guard Imperial Guard force. I'd rather not have to do that. But since we don't have a Traitor Guard ruleset in 10th, my options were to run this as a 1. Genestealer Cults force. This was the most interesting option by far, but there is no way I could get this army up and running by early December 2. a straight up Mortals Chaos Marines army with lots of Cultists and Traitor Guard but no Chaos Marines. This option seems rather bland. 3. an IG Traitor Guard force with orders. Not my favorite option, since I already have a Tallarn Imperial Guard force. But my Nostromans are themed more as a horde army backed up by lots of artillery and smattering of tanks. Whereas I like to run my Tallarns as a light recon scouting force with lots of sentinels and Rough Riders. So the two IG forces are at least a bit different. One thing the IG have now that they didn't have is medics. Lots of them. So I made some medics. Feverdream, Nostroman 9th Medic, 3rd Squad Feverdream cut her teeth in the jungles of Catachan. As a young lass, she was possessed by a Brain Leaf. She was eventually cured of the affliction by her village's Apothecaries, but since then she has been walking an incoherent fever dream. She sometimes is coherent, and sometimes not. The story of how she came to be a Traitor mercenary medic after being a Catachan soldier is a long tale best told by firelight. Ygr, Nostroman 9th Medic, 2nd Squad A native of the planet Mordian, Ygr is apalled at what she perceives to be a lack of discipline in the ranks of the Nostroman 9th. She aspires to become a Chaos Enforcer, a Chaos variant of a Commissar. Then she will be in a position to whip some order into her Traitor Guard brethren. Doctor Chaos, medic, 1st Squad Doctor Chaos is a former Night Lords Apothecary. He was present during the Horus Heresy. But he betrayed House Nightfall at a key moment in time and was punished. The Council of Thirteen reversed the Mercantile Trials, the process by which a House Nightfall mortal becomes a Chaos Marine. He is now a bitter withered husk of his former self, decrepit and aged, he does not have many years left. Spike, medic, 3rd Squad Legend has it Spike once killed a loyalist Adeptes Astartes by driving an unholy spike into his chest. He now wears the spike on his shoulder as a decoration. In truth, the Astartes had already been mortally wounded by Nostroman artillery fire. Sergeant Vicious Pete, 2nd Squad commanding Sergeant Vicious Pete is a bastard's bastard. A sly manipulator of the Nostroman 9th's black market. He seems to have his hands in everything and information is his key currency. The front of his autopistol has been snapping off for 7 years. Maybe now that it's a plasma pistol it will stop breaking! Here is a fun photo from 7th or 8th edition, when Vicious Pete, then a Renegade Commander, kept making his 5+ invulnerable saves. He managed to tank a knight's blows for an entire round of melee. He did get mooshed in the next melee phase, but he locked the Knight in combat! Garok, corporal, 1st Squad, now with new plasma pistol Here is a photo of Garok, as an Enforcer, suffering from some very bad days Harrowmaster Greenklaw, 2nd Squad Command Squad, now with plasma pistol Greenklaw leading the Nostroman horde against the foul Imperial Fists years ago The armies' warlord, Renegade Commander Dnegrah, gets a new plasma pistol A shot from ages ago when Dnegrah, seen with her old powerfist, actually killed a (Nausicaa-themed) Wave Serpent with her power fist A newly painted Dnegrah circa 2017 or 2018 And a parting photo of happy kitties hogging my hobbying space More photos to follow......

Jokaero Challenge 2025
Tallarn Commander replied to Valkia the Bloody's topic in + WORKS IN PROGRESS +
There are some brilliant conversions here! I, Tallarn Commander, vow to complete the following for the 2025 Jokaero Challenge: A Bezerker calmly sitting and relaxing in his den reading and sipping a cup of tea. Here is the Bezerker miniature along with what will become his book, his arms, and his cup of tea I shall name him Zorzi in honor of the World Eaters apothecary who joined Fabius Bile's Consortium. And I'll make this conversion into a sort of diorama. Here is the backdrop to the diorama, replete with Zorzi's cat. I have to get ready for an early December tournament, so I won't be able to do much on this conversion till then. -
