  1. Am I using the models? Sure. As a stand-in for Incursors.
  2. I think the standard re-roll hit rolls in close combat and now +1 to wound are where the money is at. Re-roll hit rolls is far more valuable than +1 attack unless you're already getting a re-roll aura from somewhere else, which is hard to come by these days. A cheap chaplain spitting out 5+++ FNP in the back field on core units is a really nice thing to have but I'm not sure if its worth it over taking a cheif apothecary now since that gives you a 6+++ with no need to roll for it.
  3. The way I see it is as follows: We can either build around holding center of board, or we can build around holding table quarters. I don't think we have the numbers to do both.
  4. Oh please, it's not a steaming turd, you're just complaining that we're not as OP as white scars.
  5. 10 Hoplites in a drill plus a dominus for re-rolls for a drop in anywhere kill target vehicle unit? Sure the lances will wound on 5's most of the time but they do throw a lot of dice, even more if they make the 9'' charge.
  6. Great recent video about the FAQ. Any chance you guys will do an interview with the Templar player who placed 2nd at Steel City Showdown?
  7. Nice list, I think its a bit light on troops choices but that's just my opinion. I think we should always be maxing out troops and taking at least 2 squads of incursors to put turn one pressure on the primary. As far litanies go, Divine Protection is always an auto include. The 5+ to ignore damage is just so good. From there its either Fires of Devotion or Fervent Acclimation. Me personally, I'm taking two chaplains right now for 2k, one of which is a master of sanctity on foot, the other is on bike. I'm not sure if its really necessary but I think its worth trying. 1 Captain, 1 MoS, 1 Chaplain on bike for using the strat to get a litany any time. This will be a nice versatile tool.
  8. I imagine everyone was probably short on time, so if there's any way we could get a second appearance from him in a less structure format so the conversation could flow a bit more freely that would be really nice.
  9. Hey everyone, I was doing a lot of thinking about list building today and I just wanted to point out a realization I had. Does anyone else remember back to around the first half of 8th edition where we had our first 8th edition codex, and it wasn't long after that came out maybe six months or so that we were so low on the power scale, and we (at least I remember) were all struggling to try and make all kinds of different things work? Vanguard veterans, assault terminators, you name it none of it was truly viable. Then vigilus happened, and we had bestowed upon us the sword brethren detachment. It was like Christmas morning, we finally had some really nice combos and a truly viable, scary melee unit in the form of sword brethren with that new "suffer not the unclean" stratagem. I remember the talk on this board, we were pumped! Not only that but shadowspear brought us Incursors and Suppressors, both units that I loved as additions to our aggressive arsenal. A chunk of time after that our new codex came out, 8th edition 2.0 really, and we had shock assault for a time before that and it was really nice boon to our offensive power in close combat. Especially with the sword brethren mentioned above. Not long after that Faith and Fury came out and this board exploded, those were some really exciting times to be a templar player. We got some really nice stratagems and relics, and honestly there was a fair bit of diverse strategy we had available to us at that point. Vanguard veterans were viable again, some people were making black tide work thanks to vicious riposte, Land Raider Crusaders even found a way to be viable again! Now we're here, at the very beginning of 9th edition, I am really truly excited. We're now spoiled for choice when it comes to aggressive tactics and melee unit viability. BLADEGUARD veterans, assault intercessors, hugely buffed assault terminators and 2 wound vanguard vets. Crusader squads with more versatility than ever before thanks to the new smokescreen keyword. Land Raiders can fire into close combat, something so many of us BEGGED for! And there's yet more, who knows we may even be getting a stand alone supplement book. Its good times to be a templar brothers. No pity, no remorse, no fear!
  10. What's your plan for dealing with hordes Medj? Or are you doing a rock, paper, scissors thing where you are playing to a specific strength? That's a viable strategy to concentrate on one area and accept a specific weakness.
  11. Without getting into points, here's my general idea what I want to try out once I'm able to start playing at 2k: HQ Primaris Captain- Buff Crusader Squads and home base Intercessors, kill things that get too close Primaris Master of Sanctity- Buff Crusader squads or intercessors with 5+ ignore damage, not sure what the other litany will be yet, might stay with Fervent Acclimation. Primaris Biker Chaplain- Turn 1 use the strat to auto cast re-roll hit rolls if needed, turbo boost to keep up with bladeguard. Turn 2 get into position and use +2 to charges. Troops 2 Crusader squads with 7 or 8 initiates, 3 or 2 neophytes for that smokescreen keyword. I plan to give them flexible loadouts like Plasma, Heavy bolters, and Missile Launchers. These operate at mid field and reinforce the Incursors. 2 Incursor squads of 5 for immediate mid field objective pressure. 1 Intercessor squad for occupying the objective closest to the deployment zone- possibly stalker bolters here. 1 Assault Intercessor squad for following up and contesting mid-field, clean up after bladeguard vets. Elite 5 Bladeguard vets in an Impulsor + Judiciar: Turn 1 bully unit to clear enemy off an objective with Devout Push. Give Sergeant Blade of Judgement if needed. Can be supported by Biker Chaplain for re-rolls if needed. Will likely be focus of enemy return fire and die after they clear objective, Crusaders and Assault Ints will follow up in next turns. Either Vanguard Veterans or Terminators for a Turn 2 counter punch drop. Terminators will hold the center much better so I may default to them here. Use Biker Chaplain positioning with +2 to charge litany to guarantee a 7'' re rolling charge into target of opportunity. Heavy Eradicator squad if enemy is experienced and knows how to optimize. If a more casual/newer player will leave them out and take a different AT option. Possible twin lascannon mortis dread or lascannon + missile venerable dread. The idea here is to have a good number of troop bodies on the table that can multi task and will be difficult to shift. I can proactively put the 5+ ignore damage litany on one crusader squad, then if the enemy decides to focus fire the other squad I can use the blind grenades from the scouts. I might even have points left over, but I haven't tried pointing it all out yet. I probably wont until battlescribe updates. What are your guys thoughts?
  12. Yet here we all are, complaining and whinging about our own codex and models, when Valkenhayn cant even see. And it seems to me that he even still plays too! Incredible. Really puts things in perspective. Brothers, we should be more resiliant like Valkenhayn here.
  13. Reinhard the way I see it we got half a starter box in model support. Bladeguard, and the associated close combat indomitus models may be able to be taken by other factions but everyone recognizes that they fit our aesthetic, and I'm willing to bet that box set has created more templar players than other chapter. Also, the super doctrine is an obvious mistaken omission. I don't play against the type of people who would say I don't get it because of that.
  14. Plenty of content for you guys to be going over at this point haha, looking forward to your videos on the codex and our Index document just in case I missed anything.
