Hopefully a Mechanicum book, with Astartes factions included for some contrast. A mix would be fine. This Mars reconquest book is easily the Scouring book I am most anticipating.

Thats alright I consider many of them to be mass market paperbacks as well and not trade paperbacks, they are so small. I would say the omnibus of Fehervari I have , released this year, is a mass market paperback. The trade paperbacks I have from other publishers are bigger.

2025 - BL highs and lows, best book/story of the year
Taliesin replied to theSpirea's topic in + THE BLACK LIBRARY +
In answer to your "why ", because ADB and Wraight both have written far more high quality books than Rath or Nguyen, who are both newcomers. That is not just about legacy, but you are lumping these 2 guys in with ADB and Wraight and I feel they have neither shown that level, nor have they shown that with the output and consistency those have. That is why in my opinion you are wrong to classify them together. In addition, I am not that wild about Nguyen's single 40K novel or Rath's books, I thought Fall of Cadia was a slog. Ergo, I really need to see these guys publish a *lot* more and at high level before they should be classified with the other 2. And also, that has nothing to do with thinking those 2 are the "end-all" of Warhammer fiction. -

I think we need to see more of these guys work in the setting before they can be elevated to Wraight/ADB status. That said it is very cool that they were even able to get Tchaikovsky to write for them as he has been one of the premier science fiction writers of the last 5 years. -

They are reducing everything. The advent stories is just one of those things, but yes indeed, they too. Now it seems that from no longer hosting to BL Weekenders, to going just an annual preview in December, that has now disappeared as well. And they dont say a word about it. 4 or 5 years there is a December preview and now they just like it expire without a word, as they usually do? Its always so incredibly clear that they dont give a toss. As for book output in 2025, very very paltry. And what their was, was by lesser names for the most part. I have enjoyed very little of what was released. I did pick up the Eisenhorn part 3 special edition a few weeks ago which was cool, and Ashes of the Imperium and the Steel Tread re-release, but outside of that, few BL purchases this year. -
Which Black Library author's other work would you read.
Taliesin replied to grailkeeper's topic in + THE BLACK LIBRARY +
Tchaikovsky. Recently bought Shroud, considering Alien Clay. Already have: Dogs of War One of his Shadows of the Apt books Bear and the Serpent Shards of Earth Terrible Worlds: Revolutions omnibus He is very likely the best science fiction writer of the last 10 years. I certainly dont like all his books but because he is so incredibly prolific, I end up enjoying more of his work than any other. -

What makes it so great? Any interesting stuff about the Seraphon? Have to disagree on Interceptor City, wanted to like it but was a DNF for me, just like Double Eagle btw.

That's how I feel too about these.

Also received today, a beautiful illustrated edition of Hereticus, 300 pages in HC with an afterword by Abnett written in Nov 2024. The artwork is excellent, though I wish there was a lot more of it.
