  1. Visually I think it looks great, minus the odd lip-sync wobble here and there. The atmosphere, the lighting, it's all very 40k and I loved it. The music was nice in places, and on the whole I did enjoy but... I've got to say though the sound really, really lets this down. I work as a sound designer in games and media so I'm obviously hyper aware of it, and I appreciate not everyone will be but christ, it feels like such a rushed job in the audio department. I'm not sure if Richard was cutting it himself or if GW got a third party to do an audio pass. Off the top of my head after watching last night a few things that really stood out to me were... - Very little to no ambience, extremely sparse and empty environments. - Dialogue randomly switching from extremely verbed to extremely dry, I'm not sure if this was intended to be the captain talking over the vox but it just felt weird to me. - Also dialogue randomly switching to mono for the odd line, and some lines being clearly composites of takes, particularly when Salken says "Or by the Emperor you will wish you had". - The storm bolter clattering to the ground sounded like a Nerf gun. They're meant to be too heavy for baseline humans to lift no? - The captains power sword when he draws it was just a mess of noise, no impact, no tone, just bleggghhhh. - The "battle" loop where the Marine is seeing Horus in his vision sounds like a cookie cutter stock-library SFX. I'm pretty certain I could discern the loop point too. - Zero power armour noise/movement despite seeing smoke pluming out of the back of some of the marines packs. - Hardly any foley for the marines, or anyone for that matter, and what little there was sounded like leather/cloth rather than ceramite. - Some footsteps just sounded like the same Generic_Footstep_01.wav repeated over and over, or again were the wrong material. A Chaplain walking in a marble hall shouldn't sound like a guy in high heels... Like I said above, I'm sure a lot of people won't have even noticed this, or won't care even if they did, but it felt like such a let down to me for what otherwise was very enjoyable. A lot of missed opportunities to really bring the world to life with sound. Unfortunately as happens quite often in the industry I work in, the audio is left to the last minute and receives none of the budget, which is why you end up with this kind of quality.
  2. Cheers! Yeah the black on the wheels is Abaddon Black, which has a bit of a satin shine when it's dry which kind of resembles rubber. The black on the chassis is Vallejo Colour Black, which is very matte. Glad someone noticed though! Thanks mate! I actually felt I rushed the handle a little to get it finished there's a few slip ups here and there. With regards to the weathering I'm still terrified to add stuff like that to model I've spent ages highlighting and screw it up. I need to just make the jump and start practising with powders and adding chips/dents etc...we'll see! I can always go back and add it later
  3. Got my biker Chaplain finished up to go alongside my six Outriders. I think that's the last bike I'm painting for a while! Fun model to paint though and managed to get him finished quicker than I expected. I'm going to make a start on another squad of Incursors before Kill-Team arrives next week. Will hopefully be back with some more updates sooner rather than later!
  4. Theres actually a book I've pre-ordered from Forbidden Planet that covers this very subject. Might be an interesting read for some folks when it's released! Grimdark: A Very British Hell.
  5. Phwoar. Edit: New Neophyte on the right hand side?
  6. This release is shaping up to be huge from the looks of things. At first I was just happy to see my black armoured brethren get some attention and hopefully some nice bits to use for conversion fodder but I'll be damned if I can't feel a crusade brewing. The Templars were my first ever army back in 3rd Ed and the nostalgia is hitting hard right now... Templar Redemptor kit? Pass me the chainsword brothers, I'm in.
  7. Seems the NDA dropped today. Seeing lots of free boxes sent out and models appearing on Instagram already this morning. Nice unboxing article here. https://taleofpainters.com/2021/08/review-kill-team-octarius-starter-set-first-impressions-unboxing/
  8. Three Outriders I finished up this afternoon, apologies for some areas being out of focus, holding the mini's and getting images of them on an iPhone is frustrating to say the least!
  9. Three more outriders fresh off the paint table. Apologies for some areas being slightly out of focus. Trying to get some pictures of these guys on an iPhone is really hard! Brings my total to six now. I hear they're not that great on the tabletop but they're fast (as far as primaris go) and they have chainswords which suits my army fine! I'll try and get some images of the whole force up at some point, really happy with how it's starting to come together. I think I'm roughly at about 1000 points so far. I've got a primaris chaplain on bike to go along with these guys I'm painting at the moment, base coats are done, then another 5-man squad of incursors and a repulsor built and primed. That should push me into 1500 point territory. I'm starting to think I should invest in some fire support at some point though, maybe some Hellblasters or regular Intercessors for objective holding? Everything I have at the moment is quite combat focused. Which I guess is where the sons of Cretacia are best suited but still! I'm going to dip in and out of painting the Repulsor alongside other units. It's the biggest model I'll have painted and I don't want to burn out on it. I'll hopefully be back at some point with some images of the bike chaplain and the force as a whole. Cheers brothers!
  10. It's been a while since I read it but I'm pretty certain The Great Work by Guy Hayley has some flashbacks of Felix remembering his time spent with Cawl when he wakes him up from stasis for various tests. It also has a lot of information on Cawl's background too. Great book to be honest, I should go back and reread.
  11. https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/games-workshop-is-trying-to-shut-down-fan-animations/?region-switch=GB Seems to be picking up some traction outside of the normal communities now. I wonder if GW will respond? Article says they reached out for comment.
  12. I've still got an old Start Collecting box of Ork's in my cupboard and I'm already eyeing up this one. Curse you GW.
  13. Much prefer that dark green DKOK scheme in the article.
  14. On that note Sete, do we know anything about how the Neophyte's will be armoured if there's a new Crusader Squad coming? It gives me a glimmer of hope for new Scout sculpts...
