  1. Yeah it's really tough! I think I'll try switching upper and lower bodies when I get around to my second box to avoid the same poses all over again. But that's gonna be time-consuming work.
  2. I'm currently struggling with my own possessed, so it's encouraging to see other hobbyists with their conversions. It's not easy to make each of them unique with the limited out-of-the-box options but I really like what you've done with yours. Great stuff!
  3. For me personally, no. The main reason for not buying more is time not money. Like Brother Captain Arkley, I collect vinyls and whisky, but additionally I'm into mountain biking and photography. Getting a nice bike or a sharp lens can get crazy expensive quickly. But considering the current cost of living issue one has to wonder if veteran customers are getting priced out of the hobby and if potential beginners are discouraged by the cost. I don't think GW charges unreasonable prices, because for a high quality product designed and produced in Western Europe it's quite ok. Still, Warhammer was never a cheap hobby and it didn't get any cheaper over the years plus now we have a whole bunch of huge kits well above 100€ that didn't exist when I started playing. Like I said, I don't fault GW for their pricing, but at the same time a lot of people have to tighten their belts. And that sucks. Oh yeah, that's the good stuff.
  4. +++ Venomcrawler +++ So, a venomcrawler. After getting the Shadowspear box (mostly for the sweet marine bits) I decided to put the little spider together without any kitbash or conversion. It's a nice change-of-pace every now and then to just build and paint something. I'm not the biggest fan of the mini and if I'll ever get a second one I would change a lot about the base model, particularly the head/face and the spikey ridge on the back. But the next daemon engines on my list are a heldrake and defiler anyway, both of which will be converted heavily to match the aesthetics of my Night Lords.

  6. Thanks! Yeah I used to make bases with brown earth and grey slate but after a couple Unification Wars minis on red/orange waste bases I thought why not use these for Night Lords as well. It's a great complementary color.
  7. +++ Havoc Legionary Ghal Korros +++ Squad Vuresh (Shrouded Reapers) Warband of Varkaus Leucetios, Noctarch of the Grendl Stars Cabal of the Tourmaline Eyes
  8. Love it! It looks like you're making good use of the Grave Guard kit.
  9. Excellent progress! The two colors I prefer the most for NL plasma weapons are pink and orange, they just work so well with dark blue armor. Seeing a whole plasma squad from you would be a treat. Btw, which neon did you use?
  10. Here's a quick hack job with regular black armour. I might have more time tomorrow to do the Hounds of Abaddon colors.
  11. I've used Mastercrafted's shoulder pads for my truescaled Chaos Legionaries for the last few years but I'm growing tired of all the work required to make them look more chaos appropriate. That's why I've begun to look for shoulder pads in the right size (bigger than chaos terminator pauldrons) from other third-party shops and I did find a couple very nice looking sets at dakkadakkstore. Unfortunately, the store is located in Russia (not that great in the current situation), and I have no clue if they would fit my marines. Their description says they will fit 38mm minis, which would indicate Primaris size, but you never know. So, does anybody have experience buying those pads or buying from that store in general? How big are they? What's the quality like? Any help is much appreciated. I might as well get the STL's and convince acquaintances with 3D printer to help me out, but I'd prefer being able to just buy the stuff from a shop.
  12. Yeah the combo of Night Haunter's Curse and Warp's Malice looks very promising. I'm leaning toward running a Master of Executions with it but a Dark Apostle might be an even better option if you have an open HQ spot. The biker unit could be a good fit for NL, too. Weakening an enemy unit before barging in to finish them off always sounds like a good plan and I really want to test it out. Fair enough, the mini definitely is an aquired taste. I usually don't frequent Reddit all that much but I've come across what looks like the Night Lords player that won a GT recently answering some questions about their list in a thread. If that piqued your interest you can check it out here. For those less inclined to click the link I'll add the main comment here in spoilers.
  13. Creations of Bile is really tempting as a Night Lords player (and my current army looks very similar to Enzzeirgul's) but I hope I can make it work with the legion rules we have. About that combined arms approach: it sounds very feasible in theory to soften up targets and then finish them off when Terror Tactics kicks in. Did anybody have success going that route? I suppose units like Obliterators, Havocs, Venomcrawlers, or a couple tanks would have to provide the long range support before fast moving heavy hitters like Warp Talons and Possessed swoop in. I do like the two Maulerfiends in the list because of a personal preference for the minis. I've been running two in my lists for years now and despite getting shot off the table quickly in most cases, they usually were worth it.
  14. Very nice! I agree that more than a little lightning bolt here or there isn't necessary. Legionaries are already very ornate and almost too cluttered with all the trim and other details and adding even more visual effects might be a bit much...at least that's what I'm telling myself as an excuse to not paint any lightning at all. I also like that you deviate from the classical style of red cloth and paint it in fleshy tones instead. So, good choices, even better execution!
