  7. Ya I just saw that myself it looks like most of my pictures hosting links are no good any more so I'll have to repost everything eventually which kinda blows but it happens. Check out Instagram that's where i've gotten a lot of inspiration a lot of my finished work is on my Instagram too under the same name as here.
  8. Awesome conversions so far it's good to see more fireborn taking the field of battle. Seeing so many pop up is giving me the itch to dive back into mine. Keep up the awesome work man with the way your troops look I can't wait to see your characters and HQ.
  9. @Lord Commander Eidolon I have indeed my brother and its good to be back ill definitely be interested to see your DG as well I'm still trying to nail down exactly what DG scheme to go with but I think it'll probably end up being my take on the legions heresy era colors +10,000 years of corrosion and worship of the plague lord. @ Vairocanum thanks man I'm pretty happy with the beast so far. I'm glad you like the direction I've gone with the dread I wanted this one being the first (of many) redemptor in my fleet to be pretty close to stock but that most certainly won't be true of the next two especially the IH one I'm planning. And the Death Guard are proving to be an interesting new challenge which is always welcomed. @Hushrong honestly I had that thought for a moment at first myself but then my inner dreadnought fanboy kicked in and I was drooling like a teenage girl on a twilight fan page. The idea to turn one to the ruinous powers has been on my mind as well you know that could actually be a pretty awesome conversion/ painting event now that I think about it. Also I'm glad you like the terrain I'm pretty happy with how its turning out and I'll definitely be building more. @ The Traitor I definitely recommend getting at least one you won't be disappointed. And the terrain was super simple so I'm glad it's turned out as well as it did.
  10. Sorry for the long absence my friends I've been posting most of my work on IG because of the ease of uploading photos compared to here. But the good news is I've been a busy pyroclast I have with shiny new toys and distractions. So I may have caved and gotten a redemptor before finishing all my primaris marines like said I wasn't going too. And if anyone reading this is still up in the air about getting a redemptor JUST DO IT this thing is an amazing kit which really shows off what GW is capable of producing now. The detail is top notch you don't even need to drill the barrels on the storm bolters. The poseability is fantastic and the model can be assembled to still have moving and interchangeable parts without needing magnets. I really hope this is the direction all gws bigger kits are going. Not only a joy to assemble but so far this beast has been fantastic to paint. And anyone who knows me knows I couldn't possibly just be working on one project oh no no not this guy. I started to come to the conclusion while test painting some foam rocks that my single tile just wouldn't be sufficient. So I started another tile. This is how I start my expanding foam terrain I use cardboard boxes to make the hollow inside of the mountain. Next I start by applying a layer of foam around the perimeter of the boxes. Continue covering the boxes with a layer of foam the trick I've learned is much like everything else patience will pay off I the long run. Try to make your layers of foam as thin as you can and allow them to dry before applying the next layer. If you get impatient like myself and lay your foam on too thick you'll end up with pockets of wet foam and when you cut into your mountain it will become a volcano. And trust me its not the kind of volcanoe you want. On this mountain I decided to add a silo and some piping as well as a tower that will have some sort of industrial building perched atop it. I got a little carried away and forgot to take pictures of the carving bit but it's petty straight forward just cut rock shapes. Some people like to seal there foam with pva glue instead I used spray on truck bed liner which not only has a rocky texture but once dry its a paintable plastic shell you can hit with a hammer if you want. After that I wanted to try out a way of spray painting rocks and I think it worked out pretty well. I also started working on the tower for mountain A my goal is to give this board the feeling of being a forge world covered in various mines and forge complexes. With plenty of subterranean tunnels and industrial ruins. I even started working on some death guard so maybe ill even be able to play some games with the misses on these fancy new boards once they're done.
  11. @The Traitor thanks brother you are too kind as always and have no fear those mag shields won't be left plain I may actually tackle them tonight time permitting. @Bjorn Firewalker thanks I'm glad you like them I think I'm starting to get the look I've been after. @Vairocanum thanks brother hopefully I can get myself back into doing them more regularly. As for the dreads the ones I've already finished probably won't see a repaint but with my dreadnought obsession you can count on seeing several big green stompy robots on this thread as soon as my hobby fund will allow lol. @ Hushrong thank you I'm glad you like what I did with the LT/ Captain for just being very small changes I think they've come out pretty well. And as for the iron hands they'll be next up on the painting block very soon. Thanks for all the comments guys they really help keep the hobby fires burning. So since the first batch of salamanders are nearing the home stretch I figured its time to throw some bases together. I considered doing something new from the bases I did for my Ash Vipers but since eventually I want my entire collection displayed on the same table uniformity won the debate. I started the same as always with glued down sheets of cork with tooth picks, paper clips, random bits including the odd helmet or hand, sand, small rocks, broken cork chunks, and random bits styrene all glued to the base on my next batch ill take more wip pictures so you can see my process. But basically after that mish mash is all glued together I spray paint it black then add liberal coats of Astrogranite (one of my all time favorite paints) followed by and this is a new step Sturland Battlemire which I'm still getting used to using but I think its pretty nice as well. Several of the bases like the one for my ancient have pipes on them and I'm using Nurgles Rot to add a sewagey effect and it works quite nicely. I still need to do some dry brushing a wash or two and get all the metal bits but it's all pretty quick easy work on the bases so that shouldn't take long. While I was waiting for the battlemire to dry I started working on the power swords. This is just the first layer of red to be followed by at least 2 more and then a super fine white highlight. Thanks for checking out my work I love hearing what you think your C&C is always greatly appreciated.
  12. Been a super busy couple of weeks but I've still been plugging away on the Salamanders. Thank you all for your continued support it truly is the best thing about this site. I know for absolute certain I wouldn't be anywhere near the skill level I'm at without the things I've learned here both from others threads and from all of your comments on my work so again my brothers and sisters thank you. On to the business. I'm down to the tedious detail portion of the task picking out details and highlighting metal things. I've been debating with myself as to how I'm going to do the shoulder pads and i think I'm going to suck it up and order some emblems from shapeways because if I sculpt them it'll be another 6 months before these guys are done. I had to take a break from the green for a while so I started the Iron Hands. I wasn't able to get rub n buff locally so ill have to try that plan another time but my current plan is to do something similar to my heresy IH but with a bit more actual black. But we'll get back to that. After that short break I decided the ancient should be the first fully painted. Thanks for checking out my work I really appreciate all your input hopefully I can get back into the habit of daily updates soon if life will allow me that much hobby time.
  13. EPIC WORK MAN your paint skills are astounding both your flesh testers and world eaters look amazing I can't wait to see an army shot.
  14. WOW JUST WOW you never cease to amaze brother that's one hell of an awesome conversion and a killer paint job to go with it. Are you planning to enter the character conversion contest BCK is holding? Keep up the awesome work man I can't wait to see more
  15. Fear not brothers I've been busy painting I didn't disappear into the cicatrix maledictum or anything. RL has just been making sure my spare time is very limited but I the time I have had I've been trying to get the first batch of salamanders knocked out and I'm getting pretty close I think. Here's some pics The way I split up the primaris I have I ended up with 6 intercessors and 2 lieutenants so I've decided that each lieutenant will be designated to a combat squad indicated by the markings on the right knee pads of there armor. My goal here is to give a little fluffy diversity and to be able to eventually have each lieutenant leading a full 10 men and each having a second lieutenant. Ive started to do the flames on the armor now as well I'd completely forgotten how tedious that is. But I'm happy with the results so far. Hopefully ill have more time over the next couple weeks so I can get these guys knocked out and on to the next ones. Thanks for checking out my work I'd love to hear your thoughts C&C is always greatly appreciated.
