Hello all, I've got a quick question, in a French forum we have a discussion about the Death guard stratagem Eruption of Filth : In my opinion, every DG character can use this at death door. BUT if this character is Mortarion or a Biologicus, he will not explode with the Putrid Explosion on top of that. Other believe that Mortarion and the Biologus are the only character who can be affected by this Strategem (because of the "instead of using any other rules that are triggered when a model is destroyed"). And you cannot use Eruption of Filth on a Lord of Virulence/contagion, Daemon prince or any other DG character. So I'm asking the English native speaker : who is right ?

Nop, with the new CSM there isnt any transfer for EC/WE (they were on the ancient transfert sheet). You can also see there isnt any new CSM models with the EC or WE color paint by the Eavy metal (look all the pictures, you will have WB/IW/NL/BL/AL but no pink or red new models.

Blast weapon are not a weapon type, it's an ability than can goes on Heavy weapon, or grenade or Pistol

I'm actually glad to hear that. No offense but imo names shouldn't get translated ever. It's one of the reasons why I stopped buying the german Codexes etc. I kinda disagree, but that's not the point of this topic. I'm aiming at comprehend those words more thant translating them. It's a made up name, and i want to know where does it come from. Let's take an exemple, and imagine Pokemon were, in fact, French and you, English speaking, are to play Pokemon with the non translated names. You will probably want to know what the heck is a DRACOFEU. Well it's made from DRACO : Dragon and FEU : Fire. Make sense, that's my point here, comprehend the name. (I should have put a different title on this topic tho). Wooaw, where does the Khorne is :cussting blood come from ? That's... pretty brutal (insert meme). Yes, we got the same thing in french. One of the most disturbing is the expression "Au jour d'aujourd'hui", wich means "Today". But HUI is an old french world for today, JOUR means today and AU JOUR means.. today. So thats translate in : In today day of today. And they you got some fool who go with "Au jour du jour d'aujourd'hui" : In the today's day of today today". But I just saw that Warden can also means "Director". So Custodian Warden could translate in Directof of the Guardian ? We dont have a word for that. Raider is translated into "Pilleurs" but it emphase on robbing and destroying thing, not so much on killing. That's my question : BlightSpawn means it's a personn created by disease or a person who creat disease ? (The second one fit more with the fluff). Really dont want to translate Khorn or Tzzeencht, but i'm interested in finding where does those name come from (we already got Nurgle). @Rik : Thats some good stuff about Intercessor/tor. Hello all, Let's talk about name units. I dont know if you are aware (probably not if english) but GW stopped the translatation of units name. Apparently for copiright bull:cuss. That's terrible, as a French baguette guyz I dont understand many of the new names. So i started a topic on a french forum to translate, or at least explain what the new name are. For exemple the new nurgle daemon. Plaguesbearers are now in French "Plaguesbearers". If you are an old friend with 40k like me, you remember the french name when GW was giving a :cuss about non english speaking country ("Portepeste" if you are curious). Anyway this one is easy. But then : Sloppity Bilepiper, Feculent Gnarlmaw.. (Feculent is what we call a "fake friend" in french, it's a world who looks like a french world who dont have anything to do with it. Feculent means Starchy in french, and i didnt know until recently why nurgle was making Potatoes in his garden..) And they are so old english word, or word specific to english without french translation so I was hoping you could explain some of this word. Also maybe some fan lover know the etymology behind some word. I dont know where does Khorne come from for exemple (apparently not the nu-metal band). (Nurgle is from a mesopotamian god tho). FOUL BLIGHTSPAWN : I translate this as something like : The one who create (spawn) atrocious (foul, and not fool as I thought) disease (blight) WARP : There is an english expression Warp and Woof, what does it means ? VENOMCRAWLER : Crawler ok, as it's a general name for insect crawling (in my skin ?) but why Venom ? This unit dont have Venom ability, am i missing something ? Putrifier, attention faux ami ne vient pas de purifier (ce que j'ai longtemps cru), mais de Putrify, l'action d'amener au pourrissement. C'est donc un (Micro)biologiste de la Putréfaction. Miam. FORGEFIEND : Forge (same word in french) and Fiend = Daemon. So Daemon of the forge ? SLOPPITY BILEPIPER : So Sloppity is a lazy man as i understood (a lazy plaguebearers in this context). Piper is the instrument, Bile is the liquid from the liver. So Bilepiper is a made up word for a Pipe from a liver am i right ? SPOILPOX SCRIVENER : Scrivener is an old terme for writer was i told. Pox is the pox. Spoilpox ? I know they are different type of pox depending on the species it hits (canarypox, horsepox). Spoil (the name) is the loot you collect after a fight, so i dont understand this one. FECULENT GNARLMAW : So Feculent means "looks like feces", Gnarl is a portion on the tree and maw is a mouth. Is there a word play i dont see in this ? GREAT UNCLEAN ONE : Is this a reference to The Greats Ones from Lovecraft ? Space marine interecessor : What does Intercessor means ? Looks like something the church. Same question for Inceptor. Reiver : Looks like an old english world to say "rob by force" is it right ? CUSTODIAN WARDEN : Custode means Guardian in latin, and warden means.. guardian in english ? So does it translate to "Guardian of guardian" ??

It leave 912 points to equip the Havoks, get a third Heavy support chooce and add whatever you want. Do you think with the point cost reduction Brigade is the way ?

@Putrid Choir : This is false, no french leak on the two wounds for cult troops. It juste have been reported on french forum. Doesnt mean it's false, but it doesnt come from nor confirmed by french leak.

The 2 wounds for cult troop isnt a Rumor, it's just a whishlist. If you want a rumor i can give you one : 8th edition stop in june with a 9th edition. It wont be a change like 7 to 8th. Think of it rather like the AoS V2. All codex are to be remade for this 9th edition. The new codex SM and the codex Adeptas sororitas are already "9th edition codex". So expect buff for mono army, and a new SMC codex. It will be after june (but it can be june, it can be summer or after one year of 9th edition). Like for SM, Vigilus special detachment will be forgoten, looks like those were a dead end. Obviously i wont reveal the source of this rumor/leak. I got no proof, so you can believe it, or not.

Eventualy the Baleful icon if against a aggressiv, close combat army 10 Cultists with range weapon 5 SMC with plasma pistol and plasmagun 5 SMC with plasma pistol and plasmagun Havocs with 4 lasgun Havocs with 4 reaper minigun and flamers 5 Terminators with chain axe and stormbolt, Power fist and plasma on the champ 2 dark disciple Rhino with 2 combi-bolt 2nd detachement : Ashen Circle (upgraded in Raptorial ost) Possessed Chaos Lord with jetpack, chainaxe and thunder hammer : Chain axe upgrade in Ashen axe, Warlord with the Possessed trait (+1A, +1S, +1M, Daemon keyword). If ever one of the Slaanesh HQ reach the lord he go with Strenght 12 (i think ?), the advance + charge but especially the Hysterical Frenzy spell. And with the axe you can't disengage from the Lord. And thats 1982 points. *I just realise : with the +1 to hit the reroll 1 from the Lord is useless. So either the 5++ on havoks is great (not sure, but i dont have tank so all the enemy anti vehicule will need to shoot one something) either i change the lord with another HQ.

So, what are the thought on the new combo we can make now than PA2 is out ? I intend to play a Jetpack Lord with a chain-axe and a thunder hammer. Give him the Possessed warlord trait (+1 to attack, strenght, Mouvement and deamonic/possessed keyword). Upgrade the axe in Ashen Circle Axe (no disengagement) and get this Murder possessed 5 attacks on 3+ reroll 1 strenght 10 D3 dmg AP-3 in a raptorial ost. Make him Slaanesh, put an Slaanesh Herald with Hysterical Frenzy next to him : now he is strenght 11 (or twelve ?) and can fight twice per turn. And alternative for a Daemon machine list is a Lord Disco with the blasphemous crown and the regain D3 wound per turn (have to check but i think it's D3 by player turn so D3 for yours, D3 for the adversaire turn) The upgrade Dark Apostle with disciple and the Epitle of Lorgar can also get Two prayer on 2+ reroll the 1, so you get that sweet Havok full lascan with -1 to hit and 5+ invulnerable save (or +1 to hit)

1) Possessed for obvious reason 2) Daemon Prince, like a lot of people here I think the actual model is a disaster, the old one was better (not only because of the DoW I nostalgia). 3) Biker, what a shame they didnt follow the huge chaos release, now they look silly next to the new CSM sculpt 4) Spawn. Don't like their look, the kits is great because you can personnalise it, but the sculpt are way too old. 5) Mutilator, they are absoluty hideous (in the wrong way). But as no one use them they arent on top of this list. Well maybe its because they are hideous ? In my Word bearer army list i didnt intend one second to get them, didnt even take a look at their stats and point cost.. 6) Defiler : Defiler IS CHAOS. Not the Fiends, not the venomcrawler, not Land raider or predator : DEFILER. The old kit still does the job so it's only 6. 7) Upgrade kit for Land raider and rhino : Forgeworld release new one and they went OOP in, what ? 3 month ? 8) Warpsmith, coz failcast 9) Terminator HQ, they are in 9 only because right now they arent good in games 10) Hellblade ? Yeah can we have a plastic flyer which is actually a flyer ? (not a turkey). Eldar got 2 non FW flyers (not counting the Exarch Hemloch as a different one), Ork got.. lots, Space marines... so so so much. Didnt include Noise and Berzerk as I am certain they will be out of CSM and in a different EC/WE codex as the DG/TS.
