Silver Skulls Army Blog

Cheers sarah, couldnt beleive it spent all that time painting the cockpit & techmarine only to spill plastic glue everywhere :D luckly it only landed on the canopy, lol!

Sprayed the 10 tactical terminators this morning whilst the weather was nice & parts arrived for my "counts as" Lysander.

Looking forward to seeing what the 6th ed brings and using my SS more on the gaming table.

Cheers

Nice Silver Skulls!

Good luck in the painting challenge I reckon if you keep this pace up you will have no problem with your vow.

Im currently in the painting mood so making the most of it whilst i can.

Hoping to get them all finished by the time the new 6th ed is released so ill know what areas/units ill need to buy to improve my army and make it more competative.

Heres my "Counts As" Lysander primed and ready to paint (sorry about poor pic quality, bad lighting)

Based it on the SS marine on the cover of "The Gildar Rift", minus lightening claws obviously.

I bet you enjoyed putting him together!

looks like someone's going to loose a few teeth (well maybe a little more after recieving an uppercut from a Thunder Hammer). I like the way he has just stomped through that panel also. Superb

This is shaping up to be the best silver skull army I've seen.

I think its brilliant the way you are using using skull helmets for all you characters and sergeants. I once mused over doing a Mortifactors force, using chaplain bodies as a basis for all my sergeants but didn't fancy painting bone coloured power armour. Now I can just sit back and watch this cool army unfold.

Good stuff!

Next time you scratch or marr a canopy(clear plastic)you can fix it using high grit sand papers.

They usually come in a kit(2000,4000,6000,8000 grit) start at the low end work your way to 8000

Then dip in Future and it will be better than new.

Great looking army BTW

Cheers for the advice can you get future in the uk?

Did some work on the canopy last night adding reflection bits in the corners with skull white & it looks a lot better now IMO!

Cheers midnight coming from you & your converting/ painting work!

Also made a start on Lysander painting the block colours, I'll post wip pics later

Cheers

Yes it is sold as

Pledge Floor Polish with Future

This is the stuff you want

Even if the canopy is perfect the military modelers say to dip the clear piece in it anyway, gets it crystal clear

When you dip it be sure to cover the piece or dust will settle on it,and they say lay it on a paper towel to absorb the excess.

If just a smudge and you do not want to go through all of that, dip it in the Tamiya clear color of your choice.

Alclad 2 also makes an armored glass treatment that is out of this world

In action

Great stuff!

Love the sparks on the hammer and the tilt of his head. The metallic on the shield is nice too.

I'm not sure if I like the grass as it adds a bit of colour...or it looks out of place. Can't decide.

I think the grass should be more sparse but he probally used the GW turf.

That's why I prefer using it out of the shaker

That way you can run a bead of glue at the edge of armor plate have grass growing along the side of it in patches.

Cheers for the c&c

There pre made tufts off ebay, i added it as i wanted to break up the base a bit as its a bit boring without it + when there on the gaming table it doesnt look that odd imo.

Thanks

Cheers sarah thats the pose i was looking for lol!

Sorry for the lack of updates been busy with other side projects :(

I have managed to make a start on the Space Marine casualites i bought from GW and this is a friendly warning to anyone who wishes to buy these DONT!

Never had the joy of working with GW finecast before & i now know why its called Finecrap. The castings are shocking, bubbles everywhere, surfaces arent smooth and details are that miscast ive had to cut bits off and replace them.

Ive informed GW and think ill stick to FW resin & plastic conversions in the future

Cheers

See, there's the weird thing. Both t'other half and myself have bought various things in Finecast and neither of us have experienced *any* problems with what we've bought. Guess it's just the luck of the draw. :-/

I want you make more Silver Skulls with Attitude. It makes me happy.
