I TURBULENCE rise to the challenge of The Great Baalite Bake Off and vow to kitbash 1 captain in artificer armour with thunder hammer, storm shield and auspex on or before April 3rd, 2017. Success will bring honour to the lamenters, whilst failure is not an option...

Welcome to the event and what is out first TDA entry! Is that the auspex from the Tactical box you've got in mind? What bits are you using for the body? BA Assault Terminator box?

Where does it say TDA tho? :biggrin.:

It doesn't. I said artificer armour. Witch will be a heavily modified mk III Base. I don't really keep spare Terminators kicking around.

Edit to answer question, the 'auspex' will be represented by the cyber Aquila from Inquisitor Coteaz

Aye, apparently I can't read. No harm done though :smile.: As for your auspex solution, that sounds great :smile.:

Sorry if i missed something, but can we add or wips in this thread? Or perhaps link to our own project logs instead?

A bit late to respond to this (as I see you've done it anyway) but in case anyone else is wondering yes we like WIPs!

Can I add another model to my original vow? I also want to do a Captain with a relic Blade. And change the inferno pistol on the spear one to a different weapon.

Nope. As mentioned in the rules vows need to be completed before more are made - so once this one in complete, vow the second. That doesn't mean you can't work on them both at the same time

Looking good Thrillhouse.

Here is my Angels Encarmine Captain. Because angelic wings are overrated.

Please excuse the base (and blu-tac). I haven't decided on a basing scheme yet, so thought I'd just leave it blank for now. He will go on a 32mm base, but there are no 32mm slotta bases (that I'm aware of) so that's why there is the 25mm on top of the 32mm base.

Parts list:

Head: Forgeworld Iron Warrior Head, with wings from Vampire Counts kit

Torso: Death Company

Backpack/Legs: Astorath

Wings: Dark Eldar Scourges

Shield: Vampire Counts with Blood Drop added from Death Company kit

Arm 1: Forgeworld Breachers

Arm 2: Mk IV Tactical Squad

Shoulderpads: Command Squad

Sword: AoBR Captain

Here's a close up of the shield, since it's not overly clear in the other photos. Apologies for the picture quality. I wanted to physically model the Chapter Symbol, but my sculpting is pretty sub-par, so this seemed a good compromise.

Hope you guys like him, and I look forward to seeing everyone's conversions.

As a slight aside, I was playing "Count the Skulls" and found 12 on him, not counting his noggin. Think you can include more on one model? Show me what you got. :ph34r.:

Shall I sign it off as complete? If so, congrats! Got anything else in store for the event?

I, DeathcompanyDante, rise to the challenge of The Great Baalite Bake Off and vow to kitbash Lord Captain Alfonso, legatus of Miliatum, leader of the Red Eagles successor chapter. Equipped with Jump pack, artificer armour, valors edge and hand flamer.

Success will bring honour to the Red Eagles chapter, whilst failure is not an option...

(Just in case post isn't clear, captain, valors edge, hand flamer, artificer armour, jump pack)

Welcome to the event :smile.: Forgive me, but as I'm unfamiliar with your work, how are you going to make it look like it belongs to our Faction/your Successor?

I Kierdale rise to the challenge of The Great Baalite Bake Off and vow to kitbash from Blood Angel parts one Slaaneshi Chaos lord as a heretical out of contest entry on or before April 3rd, 2017. Success will bring honour to the Psychopomps, whilst failure is not an option...

Edit: there is some lovely work from members so far. I should spend more time browsing your corner of the forums. You fraters put together some nice models!

I agree! I'd recommend collecting a Blood Angels army too, say, around May this year?

Anyway, your OOC entry is logged. Have you changed it beyond what you spoilered in the NR&A thread?

Thread updated to here and it seems the event has gotten off to a great start :)

Really looking forward to seeing everyone's entries, but make sure you have read the rules and ask questions if you are unsure. I'd hate to have to downgrade entries to OOC ones when it could have been avoided :(

Sanguinary Guard Jump Pack

Sanguinary Guard Helm Crest as Halo

Sanguinary Guard Sword

Lord Celestant right arm as a basis for sculpting armor (note it is shaved down to just a stick, awaiting approval form Jol)

Chalice form Upgrade Pack

Dark Eldar Scourge Wings

Cheers

Varred

What did have you in mind for the legs again? Surely not a sculpt from scratch?!?

He's looking quite cool and I love that his sword absolutely massive. Did you decide against the deathwatch gorget?

Well I'm feeling my entry is pretty boring so far

Only from bitzbox so far - though i have relented and have orded some Blood Angel extra gubbins and a shoulder guard.

I still love the old 2nd ed power fist so much

That's not boring at all and I'm sure it will look even moer like a Techmarine once your bits come through. Aesthetically, it's also in keeping with your army so far and thats important too.

Oh, and second edition stuff gets my approval

Thanks Jolemai. If you're happy with him as a legal entry, I'll call him complete.

He still needs a name though.

I don't have any other entries planned at the minute, but I'll see if inspiration strikes again.

A Captain requires something to show off his iron halo (or counts-as). Would you say this is one the model?

I Midnight Runner, rise to the challenge of The Great Baalite Bake Off and vow to kitbash Thalastian Jorus, Blood Angels Hero Chaplain, Servant of the Great Angel and Remembered of Mackan to the best of my ability on or before April 3rd, 2017. Success will bring honour to the Blood Angels, whilst failure is not an option...

Wasn't M'Kachan a Tzeentchian Daemon Prince? Anyway, I (and a few others by the sound of it) am looking forward to some new Flesh Eater stuff! Ideas on his rosarius?

You are indeed on point for the Daemon, however Mackan(or Makan, I can't remember....) was during the 7th Black Crusade, when the Blood Angels were almost wiped out (again, yawn) by the Black Legion. A standout scene however is Jorus duelling with Abaddon amidst the Death Company and the Warmasters Chosen. Jorus was ultimately killed, not before wounding Abaddon (scars he still bares today apparently). The DC and Jorus put up such a courageous fight the the Black Legion 'honoured' them by propping them up on the armour of Abaddon's fallen Chosen, and whilst the defiled the surrounding Blood Angels geneseed theirs was left untouched. I thought it would make good use out of my Abaddon, Loken and the FW diorama which were a gift from my brother :tu:

RE the Rosarius, I am using a jump pack from the jump chaplain which has one attached already :) slight cheat, but I am still going to town on the rest of him. So far I have chopped an old second edition Chaplain for the chest piece from when I was 16 years old (I am 35 now, told you I am not sentimental!) and decided to run with the Dark Angels Chaplain from the special edition Dark Vengeance set, as well as Lokens legs :tu:

I think he looks really cool. im always amazed when people manage to mix bits spanning over 20 years of design and still make them look nice together.

This is my bluetac:d progress so far:

That is awesome! He sure has that Blood Quest vibe going on!

Thanks! Is it the head that gives him a leonatos kind of look? or is that a reference to something else?

Thanks! One reason is im going to use him with some sort of unit made from sanguinary guard (sternguard with combiweapons was the plan from the start, now im thinking command squad, honour guard or vanguard veterans instead). In a unit like that id still want him to look the fanciest. also when looking to add and subtract details from the deathwatch gorget it looked like alot of work for something i had no good ideas for. i managed to keep the cabling underneath the chest, as soon as i fix the gaps it will look nice i think.

edit: i realise he is more than 25% of the original model and therefore cant compete, but thats okay.

And Jol, indeed i am going to either sculpt them entierly (would be my first try with smething that big) or upscale some marine legs i have.

Cheers

I believe we are past the 24h mark, and we can post entries right?

So here ccomes Dante, fairly basic as I wanted to stick to the original as much as i could.

Bits used are:

Legs, torso, head and axe arm from Sanguinary Guard,

Infernus pistol arm from DC,

Backpack from som old 5ed assault marines,

Some bits and pieces ike wings from i  don't know where:p

Wings are mounted like that on the backpack, cause when i glued them like on the original model, the were looking very odd so i switched tchem around

Hmmm, it will definitely be an obvious son of sanguinius, but you've got me on the front of it being an obvious successor without painting it. The red eagles strongly identify with their parent legion so much of the iconography will be similiar to other blood angels.

The weapons will be custom (you'll understand when you see (; ) so I'm not sure if that will help. Any tips?

Well, I'd recommend integrating elements of the chapter symbol onto the model. It would help us to help you if you told us what your chapter symbol was. Assuming it's an actual red eagle, (a stretch, I know) I'd suggest using raptor (as in the bird) parts such as the eagle headed backpack from the multipart captain, or some of the eagle related stuff from the van/sternguard kits like the fancy eagle headed chainsword. Alternatively add some feathers from the various Dark Angel kits for a slightly more subtle nod. You could even use the clawed feet from the Warp Talon kit, if that's your jam?

Hope this is of use.

Hmm... something to think about. I think subtle nod will be the name of the game. I have a power sword with an eagle head pommel somewhere, so perhaps I can perform surgery and add the pommel to the sword I'm using for the model. I've got a spare set of sanguinary guard wings so I can add them as well to give it that eagle feel.

Cheers for the thoughts! :)

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do in regards his Dead Man's Hand (Gauntlet with digital weapons)?

I, Mirbeau, rise to the challenge of The Great Baalite Bake Off and vow to kitbash a Chaplain (IX Legion Warden) on or before April 3rd, 2017. Success will bring honour to the Blood Angels Legion, whilst failure is not an option...

Glad to see some interest from the IXth Legion! As per the event's FAQ, make it so it's like a Chaplain and you're good

Wilco, he'll be based around the new chaplain cassius (complete with crozium), the blood angels bare head from the deathwatch killteam sprue, a yet to be determined right arm and a helmet chained to his waist (sang guard? plastic chappy helm? Need to look at the BL/FW fluff and see if deathmasks come up at all). Edited by Mirbeau

Alright, first vow is done!

First up, Azariah Dealan (Dante), Chapter Master of the Storm Blades:

Bits

Base - Assault Marines sprue

Legs, Torso, Backpack, Right Arm, Right Shoulder - Sanguinary Guard sprue

Left arm - DC sprue

Left Shoulder, Head, Halo - Upgrade sprue

Not sure where I got the grenades, but I think it was BA tactical squad

Next up is Silas Corwin (Corbulo).  This guy I think is technically out of competition since he doesn't have a narthecium.  I didn't even think about it until I was taking pics!  What models/kits have those I could scrounge for the future?

Chainsword - MK III sprue

Right Shoulder - SG sprue

Backpack - DC sprue

Left Arm - Devastators or Sternguard (can't remember, but it had a ton of guns on it, haha)

Finally for my first vow, we have an as-yet unnamed DC Chaplain:

Bits

Legs, Torso (I think), Backpack, Right Shoulder - SG sprue

Right Arm - Mk III Sprue

Left Arm, Head - DC sprue

Crozius (shaft) - Assault Marine thunderhammer

Crozius (head), Left Shoulder - Upgrade sprue

Not sure where I found the Crux Terminatus slash Rosarius.  Maybe the Command Squad sprue?  I have another I have yet to glue on that was from the "Space Marine Commander" kit, maybe it had two.  I'll paint a necklace going up to it when the ETL comes around.

Now, vow #2!

I, Tyriks, rise to the challenge of The Great Baalite Bake Off and vow to kit bash another stock DC chaplain, Gabriel Seth (out of competition) and a Captain with a Relic Blade (might try to green stuff it into a Valour's Edge if I feel bold tomorrow), Storm Shield and Jump Pack, on or before April 3rd, 2017. Success will bring honour to the Storm Blades, whilst failure is not an option...
