Agreed to disagree then, Charlo. I like the Repulsor model and will definitely get one of this new variant as well. ;)

Quite possibly the worst and most unappealing model GW has ever put out in recent memory.

This should have been a dual kit with the repulsor.

I urge people not to buy this, it's just a grav Razorback

I think the Repulsor is one of the coolest looking units on the table, so I'm going to disagree. This thing is beautiful.

But I have no problem with people spending their own money where they want, won't hear any weird begging from me.

Actually, I wonder if they will sell this as a upgrade kit for 20$. (Just the new sprue)

If I recall the same thing was said about the Storm Raven.as well as the Cestus Assault Ram.

Being a grav Razorback may be true. The transport capacity is less important to me than the fire power, it's slightly more useful with it than without it.
Heck, watch GW do something silly like give it a transport of 10.
But I 100% agree that if you don't like it you shouldn't buy it.

Could be possible, but the hull is subtly different. No space above the side doors after all.

Unlikely. The hull is a bit different (no stormbolter/fragstorm grenade launcher over the doors), the turret is bigger, with stormbolter onthe backside and the main gun moved to the heavy stubber position (also I think less antenna) and I think the decoration bitz on the heck are a bit different too.

I will get two. I just hope that:

1: It heralds the ability to more flexibility in the regular repulsor loadout ie. Not being forced to take krakstorm launchers.

2: a new codex with strategems that help space marine vehicles.

3: lowering the base chassis cost with 25-50 points.

Obviously so you buy a whole new box instead of just getting your hands on a second turret and swap it around while still maintaining the general look of the Repulsor since it's just a Repulsor variant instead of a whole new tank (no, GW doesn't acknowledge counts-as). ;P

I was hoping the main battle tank would've been a repulsor meets astraues

Model looks great. Points wise it will need to see a drop ( new codex most likely) alongside the normal repulsor itself. Otherwise the Astraeus will be far superior to two of these.

I'm not too sure about that. The Astraeus is still a massive 700p investment (and still worse than the big GW Knights due lack of Stratagem support and degrading not-invul save lol) ... and costs a whole lot more money because it's FW resin.

It all depends on how mean the Heavy Laser Destroyer turns out to be I guess.

Yea but I'm not comparing it to knights though, I'm looking at it through a mono primaris lens. I agree it does depend on the laser destroyer stats as if two are the same cost as an Astraeus ( about 750) but not as good then it's a waste.

Woudn't say money puts people off FW as you can drop just as much money on IKs as big forgeworld models. It's the resin more likely.

Hopefully it’s a heavy support choice so it can be added to spearhead detachment rather than a transport

I am a bit surprised that the plasma variant is just a single macro plasma incinerator though because that is the weapon that the redemptor carries right? I would've thought it was going to be a bit juicer, meaning two of them/a decimator considering a normal leman russ with executioner plasmas are better with grinding advance (as a weapon, they'd need to be tank commanders to have the same BS obviously)

I like the look of the new Las cannon I'll get one either way but I hope its effective. Playing a Primaris only list is pretty tough right now.

The bigger turret looks awesome, especially with the Macro Plasma Incinerator. I will be buying one for sure.

For an army that is designed on specialist units, this is just another bad build.

Reasoning

Primaris are not your grandpa’s (that’s me by the way) ole Space Marines. In the days before Primaris, Space Marines were all-arounders, jacks-of-all-trades, that we’rent great but good at everything ... and I filled my list with 6 missile launcher toting 5 man Tactical squads :)

That was yesterday.

Tommorrow Marines are specialist units of infantry that need very specific support units of transport and anti tank to cover the holes in their armory.

The Repulsor fails miserably from a tactical design point. With Hellblasters, Intercessors, Aggressors, and Infiltrator/Reivers, the infantry has all the smaller arms fire that can reach out (30”) and crush elite and horde infantry counterparts and go a round or two in melee afterwards. People keep confusing the Repulsor with a Rhino or Razorback .... the thing is a slightly tweaked new fangled Land Raider in ability and cost

What the Repulsor does NOT do is provide the anti tank of a main battle tank. It is just pretending to do so or it wouldn’t have all the medium dakka barrels. If it’s a heavy support unit (and yeah Primaris needs one) then give the thing the weapons it needs and push off with the multiple anti-infantry weapons.

It also fails as a Transport option. GW is missing a real opportunity at redesigning Primaris as a truly unique army. If it were a true transport option it would have one maybe two light guns akin to stormbolters or lighter gatlinrg gun of the Repulsor and call it quits. This fast transport - let’s call it a Whispercutter - would have the speed of a Land Speeder with a -1 to be hit and the ability to Transport 6 Aggressors or 10 Intercessors.

And wouldn’t more than a 100 points to field. A cheap fast light transport is the support unit Primaris need, it’s the transport Primaris deserve.

I know it’s a person choice but if like Land Raiders, Repulsors were actually a tactically good design on the table top, then we would seen them in more competitive list. As they are now they are a point sink that doesn’t have the survivability of a Knight or the throw away cost of a Rhino. They don’t do anything - as currently designed - to make Primaris competitive with a Guard or Eldar. Anyone worth their salt has an answer for Knight (which is why you now need two) the Repulsor doesn’t have a chance and any infantry points pushed into it as a “transport” better hope they aren’t rolling “6”s that day.

Apology to those who like/love the Repulsor. I just find it’s a design that misses the mark competitively ... like so many things Astartes in 8th edition. I’ll keep fighting with and for my boys in power armor, I just won’t do it with units that don’t have the ability to synergize well with Primaris units. It’s a choice. Love to all who walk a different path.

PS: Also even if I bought a couple Repulsors, if they went the specialist vehicle route, I’d be buying 4-5 vehicles if they were cheaper in points to go with my pricey infantry. So yeah their losing money as a result of poor game design also.

What the hell is going on with that flying stand?

Not sure if anyone else said anything, but I think that stand is actually designed to allow the model to rotate on the stand without turning the base (I'd love to be wrong, since I'm not sure why you'd actually need to do that).

It's just the flying stand that the Repulsor uses. It's a two-part cylinder that fits together. Gives a decent amount of stability for a big model, but I find it doesn't work well without magnetization.

Ahhhh, for some reason I always thought the Repulsor one was a single piece heavy plastic cylinder.

(Can you tell I haven't bothered to buy one?)
