Last month, MRM announced they would be suspending shipping to the UK for an indefinite period of time due to VAT changes - today, they have announced that the same suspension will apply to the EU as well come April.

Other companies have already announced they'll be terminating shipping to the UK and EU in light of the recent / upcoming changes, and you can be certain that many more will follow in short order.

On a more positive note, they did just announce some new pieces! Sadly, they aren't accessible to a good chunk of the community now.

Might be worth reading the eBay article - basically on Jan 1st 2021 UK/EU and I think US and Canada also tightened their exemptions on e-commerce shipments... Note the removal of below 'x' value exemptions... it's about getting the VAT or sales tax collected from e-commerce sales by our own governments to offset lost revenue from bricks and mortar stores but they all did it on the 1st...

It's a strange feeling to see a VAT related topic in a Warhammer forum when building software for periodic VAT reporting is my job lol

VAT burden is being placed on sellers instead of buyers, like pretty much any other business.
Edit for clarity:

An additional update from MRM today - the store will be closed until March 29th to allow them to catch up on outstanding orders, and they'll be assessing how the company operates in the future.

...Easy digital solutions exist already...

Technology wise this is on par with accepting credit cards I.e. seamless and painless...

I'd love to know where to find these easy digital solutions.  I use the Zen Cart E-commerce platform, any links to solutions would be greatly appreciated.

One example off the top of my head: use the eBay platform. If you want your current provider to provide a service they aren't providing I think emailing them is the best way forward.

So just to clarify, your suggestion of an "easy" solution that is "seamless and painless" (your own words) is for MadRobot Miniatures to scrap the way they do business currently, and migrate their business to a new platform?

It may just be me, but that doesn't sound easy, or seamless, or painless.

Visa is seamless and painless.. Isn't it? Which is what I said. But I won't argue against my own words, that would be silly.

Visa, as in the credit card payment processor, is a bit of a different animal.

They are a multi-billion dollar company and I am a small, one-man operation. Ebay is too restrictive with fees and the process of migrating and managing a catalog of over 400 items is a non-starter.

I do appreciate your response but I think those solutions are not quite as easy to find as one would think.

Just to be sure: does this include addresses in countries in Europe but outside the EU and UK? Places like Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, etc.
