Ensis Ferrae Posted November 27, 2010 Share Posted November 27, 2010 TBH, since you are doing World Eaters, the Rhinos look great to me. I mean, the way i figure it, all of the Khorne Berserkers that are available in the CSM codex still have white armor with blue shoulderpads.. its just that 10k years of fighting, and no cleaning off their armor will leave it all red.. and i highly doubt that they clean or repaint their transports in their off time, being as im sure its spent killing more things in the name of khorne. The one thing I could maybe criticise is that the dead dude on Khârn's base has a gigantic hand, which looks funky. With the way the World Eaters were described in Galaxy in Flames (I think) I always imagined them to be like almost totally covered in blood cuz it describes them as painting their armour red with the enemy's blood, but all the Pre-Heresy World Eaters I've seen done are always nice and pretty with gleaming white and blue armour and I'm like "Where's the bloooood!?" And I love the "pretty boy head" for Darkt Squad's Sergeant, I can totally just imagine him actually being a complete blood thirsty psychopath (it's the pretty wunz you gotta look out for!) The pretty boy Sarge Darkt was intended to a version of Tycho for my dead Blood Angels, but I liked so much the pose and thought that he can be a nice WE sargeant, is just looking for enemies :) The hand of the lucky boy in Khârn's base if from a zombie sprue, hence the strange proportions. @Olgerth Istaarn, not sure when he lose the armor of their arm, but is a wink to the GW mini :) @Ecritter, fortunately is not real blood, is a homemade blood recipe, is stylographic red ink mixed with flesh was 1:1, I'm very happy with the result, and glad you like it! Also yes, Khârn died for first time during the Heresy, he died many times IIRC, a shame he don't have Eternal Warrior USR, imho. @Dooley, is not a secret. I've stoped from painting this days, but don't worry, the weathering tutorial for starters would be finished! Now let's talking about the Obliterator cult. I'm not really a fan of them. Certainly I would be much happier with Cult Terminators... But better to keep this on-topic :P The Obliterators are a very versatile Heavy Support choice, and, besides I only play WH40K for the fluff, I like to win sometimes. Of course, I play to win, but for the fluff. Combine both concepts can be very painful, so following the wise advices of The Jeske (B&C) and specially, of VonManstein (Warseer, aka Zhukov in B&C) I conceded and picked a unit of Obliterators to play in competitive enviroments. But, since this army is intended to be pre Heresy, the Obliterators are out of place. To amend this, my first thought was running them as Techmarines with full servo-harness (I don't discard one of those, by the way), but after seeing the amazing Obliterators of Dan The Daemon, I changed my mind and decided stole his idea. Maybe was the angle of the picture, I don't know. You can see in pic #2 a different view. Here is a bit of progress with my first Obliterator. I've added some details here and there. The wound one (aka Brother Wone or lascannon guy) is almost completed, just need minor GS work to fill some gaps.
