tiny sam Posted June 2, 2011 Share Posted June 2, 2011 after a short break I'm back on my paint board! here is a squad I begin some time ago part by part that I decided to finish. my command squad. First a group shot for a generic view: Detail view of the different characters the captain, Robert 1er d'Artois (I put a un-primed version as it's easier to see the details) I was planning to use the real heraldry of Count Robert 1st of Artois on his shield, but I must admit I have no idea how I will make the castles. the apoticary Raynaud de Flory the only one completed the Sergent, I need a name for this one (medieval european that can be found around 1200 A.D.) he's an ex deathwath member and wield a thunder mass Standard bearer, need a name for this guy too I will probably put the heraldry of the captain on this big banner and put something else on the captain's shield Company champion, also need a name for this guy nothing impressive, just a plain company champion and finaly a generic expendable guy I realy like him :lol: I'll post finished version as soon as they are completed! tiny sam Posted June 10, 2011 Author Share Posted June 10, 2011 Ok I'm an horribly slow painter... but here is a quick update I made good progress on the vanilla veterant, just need a few touch up, Pistol bolter is not finish, lettering the scrolls, fixes the chapter symbol and every thing you might find! tiny sam Posted June 10, 2011 Author Share Posted June 10, 2011 if your talking about the white helmet, I youse these 1 layer of astronomican grey (to cover the black and be able to put the first layer of white) 1 thin layer of white a 50:50 azuramen blue\water wash 1 or more layer of white on the plain surface. I also began the paint on the Company's champion, but I a little hesitating with the pauldrons, not realy sure how to make them. I really don't know how I should make the power sword, does some of you have an idea for lightning or energy waves (don't realy know how i would made that though) here is how it comes: Front : Back : Sides : Comments and Critics are always welcomed! It was late and you said "Generic Veteran" in your first post, your lucky I didn't call him a Guardsman at that point <_<. The champion looks good, but close up the lightning effect isn't as sharp as I thought. The fork of energy going off to the side looks...wrong, I can't figure out how to describe it. Still, it's about a thousand times better then any energy effect I have tried, so take my advice however you see fit. The Fluer de lys look fantastic ;). tiny sam Posted July 13, 2011 Author Share Posted July 13, 2011 Standard Bearer is finally finished Uphold the honor of the compagny, for you are his bearer! and a detailed view of the banner it's the heraldry of the 2nd compagny, the pennant represent the chapter, the primarch and the current campaing, i'll make some final touchup on the leg clothing/purity seals, the chapter cross look a little messy. tiny sam Posted August 9, 2011 Author Share Posted August 9, 2011 the Complete version of the Count-Captain Francois of Artois can be found in the hall of honor and I started a new squad, Squad Pierre 1th of Britain. As for my other squad I will used this real crusader heraldry as a squad marking. It really makes me feel bad for being daunted by the idea of painting the single battle flag I've got designed for my Sisters army. Very neat, and also inspiring me to try to practice freehand more. I'm drawing my inspiration directly from the 7th crusade and the Heraldry of the time. the bretonnian probably used the same inspiration ^_^ and like I said to philsminions, feel free to used any thing I did (after all I only re-used the historical fact ^_^) I should soon write an article to the librarium for this chapter. I've manage to finish two battle brothers for squad Pierre 1st I tried to make the scabbard to fit with the squad heraldry keep in mind that none of the bases are done yet, I keep that for the end. Are you going to do anymore crazy heraldry guys, or is the Cross of St. George going to be the standard for the average Marine and the fancy stuff just for the Force Commander? tiny sam Posted August 12, 2011 Author Share Posted August 12, 2011 actualy, the squad has an herald that will display the Coat of arms of Pierre 1er de Bretagne one of the guy with a sword will also have a shield with that on to (it has been removed for painting purpose) and the chapter's symbole is the Cross of Jerusalem (the ordinary battle-brothers don't have the right of bearing the full symbole with the 4 '+') Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
