Here's some pics of my Raptors army in progress. There are schemes that go back to Rogue trader days for the Raptors, so my army will have a bit of a mix, though predominately (olive) drab green and some camoflage too.

are those the steam punk helms?

also, how dud you make that knife in the assult raptor's hand?

looking good!

The helmets are "Steam knight" helmets from these guys . http://www.maxmini.eu/store/index.php I'm using those on my Sergeants.

The swords are blades from Skaven stormvermin halberds. I have a thing against chainswords, so I just can't help myself to find replacements. Its irrational, but I just don't like them. I thought these blades kind of lent to the 'raptor" asthetic too.

I hope to get to more painting and decal work later today. Also planning out my Shrike conversion. ;)

Love those RBs, other than the splash plates/extra armour on the front have you bulked them up some?

They are stock Rhino hulls. I put armor plates up front and a little bit of stowage (ammo boxes/utility boxes) but that's about it. Didn't really bulk them up at all. The slat armor is from a 1/35 scale M2 Bradley accessories kit. Initially I had more bags and such, but it seemed more "Imperial Guard" than "Space Marine". I doubt they need as much kit on extended deployments.;) The plan is to do decals and weathering later tonight, so I should have some pics up...probably after midnight. :P

Thanks for all the great comments, gang. :o Inspires me to do a really nice job finishing these up.

Wow man. I love the marines. I really like the yellow 'beaks' that you painted on the first couple of marines. (Which, by the way if you need more of those Maxmini heads, I may have 1 or 2 that I don't intend on using).

The tanks are great, love the camo. And I don't think I've ever seen such great success in transfers. The extra armor plates look awesome as well.

Thanks! I have 13 more of those Maxmini heads (left over from a plague marine project and some Thousand sons I did on commission), they might end up being sternguard, though I'm planning some more sergeants. the Sergeants don't have a specific squad marking so I can use them as needed. The decals came out good, only had one with any flash, so ...a 90% success :cuss. I have a little "tutorial" on how I do decals on my blog if you are interested.

The yellow "beaks" idea is from illustrations in the Rogue Trader book. In there, different colors denoted rank and such. I wanted to break up the green a bit and the yellow not only touches on the Rogue Trader stuff, but also nods to the "original" blue and yellow scheme.

Thanks gang. I work out of the my "out of the house" job Thurs- Sat, but should be able to get more up tomorrow night. The weapons are stolen from fantasy battle Skaven. They have that curvy/pointy/wicked nasty asthetic that reminds me bird of prey claws. The one on my librarian is from the Queek headtaker model. I have a long range, evil plan  to do a corrupted Guard/inquisition army with beastmen and skaven, so its given me some good bitz to scavenge for my evergrowing Raptors army. I've got a thing for alot of the fantasy minis, I just can't get into the game, so I tend to borrow from that range whenever something looks cool to me.

The librarian's blade is a bit nasty looking in a chaosy sort of way, but that works for me. Its curvy and pointy and makes folks go "Yikes!!" Besides, those librarians are always a couple steps from the edge anyways, with their witchcraft and fancy blue armor :P

Question for the masses: I'll be working on my version of Shrike. I was thinking of two rippy, nasty skaven halberd turned swords. OR.... something like this: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=227470 What say the brethren?

Thanks for looking in on my blog too.

It seems that Raptors are growing in popularity (slowly). Great painting but sadly I am not a fan of the yellow helms, I think they'd look better in grey IMHO. But the camo on the tanks is amazing
