+++E Tenebrae Lux III - Blood Angels Strategium+++

Captain Semper

I am hoping to be complete in the next few days.  I will not be adding to my vow, I don't think I have any BA units left needing paint (at least until we get a new codex and new models...)

The deadline is getting closer, but I'm confident I'll finish my vow in time! I've finally started on my dreadnought, here is a WIP shot:

Good progress guys - at this point you are ahead of the Imperial Forces - although by only a slim margin! Congrats xmercx on your third completion, now sit back and enjoy the finale!

UPDATED TO THIS POINT!

Vow complete. It's not my best work. I'm having trouble catching my motivation. The claw guy got rather dark with the wadh. I might try and fix it one day. When doing lamenters the checkered shoulder pads are a trademark. These two models I chose had the wrong shoulder blank but without the checkers it would just be a yellow marine.

No more talking.

Vow complete.

For Sanguinius and my brothers.

Alternatively you can paint a round of white or brown over black, and then paint yellow over that. I had some interesting experiences with my heldrake and some advice from the members here leading to that. (Alternatively, 7 thinned coats of yellow over black seems to work toowallbash.gif)

Okay, update time, because I have fallen behind on those. Here are the drop pod, vindi, sternguards, and one of the Sanguinary Priests. The assault squad is waiting on its ard coat to dry or I would post that, same with the jump packs for the Captains. All I have left after this in terms of painting is a bit of work on Meph, finishing touches on three SPs, and the terminator Libby who is the bane of my existance. I may have time to finish them on Monday, but if not, next weekend. If I do get them done I may may a second vow, a MUCH smaller one.

Anyways, drop pod.

Here is Fat Marine, the largest of the Adeptus Astartes. You cannot get thisguy to move. So far, in Fifteen years with this guy he has yet to roll anything but ones on movement. I mean period. Of course his rolls to hit, wound, and armor saves are always fives or sixes so he has never died. Hard to get him in position, beast when he is.

Sternguards. So I hate robes on anything but libbies, so no robes on these guys. Also my whole army is 3rd ed paint job, so like in third their helmets are based on their role, in this case red for tactical as gold was only for honor guard. To specialize them a bit I did forge world bionics to show some war wounds, I used umbral ferox pattern bolters for the extended ammunition look, resin BA and crux terminatus shoulder pads, few combi weapons from lord knows where. Probably would have been a lot cheaper to just buy the GW sternguard, but I don't like those. Sorry for the camera, these guys look really bright on camera, really dark in person.

And last but not least, my baby. Never leave home without a vindi. Appocalypse Sunday match up, bring a vindi or two. Three guys want to square off against me, bring a vindi. Going to the pub for a pint, bring a vindi.

These guys finally dried so here is a bit more complete.

Assault Squad

gallery_57222_9535_400480.jpg

I tried taking a pic of the shield while it was on but glare makes it look horrible, so here it is just laying flat. Still not the best pic, but it works. Also this pic is significantly larger than the shield, so every flaw shows. Ohh, I got the shield from Scribor because the GW ones just in no way shape or form scream BA to me. Third edition codex states BAs normally have images of robed skeletons, often with wings to act as a reminder of the dark curse of the flaw. So with this guy, done and done.

gallery_57222_9535_142044.jpg

Here are four of the captains.

gallery_57222_9535_137795.jpg

And this is what I have left to do on my initial vow. Meph is maybe an hour from done. The captain just needs that shield up front finished, after priming maybe an hour. the two appothecary arms need maybe twenty minutes to finish both and I think about three to finish the SPs. So all in all I may finish up Monday. If I do, then I will see if I have time to finish up some OOP minis I have lying around. I think I have the old Lemartes, Metal Corbulo, and the original Rogue Trader Tycho somewhere. If so I can probably get them finished in time for some more BA glory.

Vow complete :)

I've put the 'before' pic in again seeing as I've just figured out how to do it right on my phone finally! The red on the landraider was just a basecoat, it needed a full coat plus of mephiston red, then highlighting weathering and detail on the weapons plus glossing.

There's something about painting death company. I get the feeling an artificer would, that this marine, with his history of service and his now lost memories, is going into his last ever battle and you try to do this some justice. If only my skills were up to it eh!

bear with me...this will take some time to put them all up, which I have to do by going back and forth to photobucket and editing the post

I really like that you put the guns on the front doors of the land raider instead of the rear like the instructions say. I do the same thing as it makes no sense to disembark in front of the shooty things. Great paint job.

Wow thanks for the compliments :) That light effect was pure accident, pics weren't turning out good with the bright sun so I just set the exposure to max to see what happened haha :D Used the last of the dry mud weathering powder on the DC bases, shame because it looks awesome when applied to the land raider. And yeah the cannons were on the rear mounts when I got it...silly idea if you ask me!

Vow Complete.

Took forever due to me not having magnets and glue for a month.

Overall I am pretty happy with them. Sadly this will have to be my last vow for this ETL. I wish I could do more, but sadly I have to make a living. Ugh.

I'm just about done, but then someone borrowed my Knight for an event this weekend.  Assuming I get it back Monday, I'll fulfill my vow.  If I don't, well, failure and shame.
