I have been quiet for a few days.

 

Initially I started painting for speed, but these critters are so detailed, every time I thought I was done, something else needed doing.

 

So 1 day off schedule, but 90% done on the wolves. The plan is to finish them up in conjunction with the riders as some techniques & colours will be common to both. So far i have just stuck to drybrush wash and layers with 1-2 colurs on highlight, no blending or any other techniques used yet, still have eyes and a few bits to tidy but overall happy.

 

Oh and painting the bases a wee bit as I am not allowed basing materials on the stupid oilrig.

 

Pictures are on the way, please feel free to comment, or give tips...Tell me if I have made any glaring mistakes etc...Anything that will help make me a better painter.

Absolutely! A fantastic batch of wolves there dantay! The fur is really well done both with the greys and the browns!

 

My only comment would be to "dirty" a bit the bionic bits. By "dirty" I do not mean mud, I mean black ink maybe (Nuln Oil) or some bronze details on certain pistons. It's not a lot of work but the result will look a bit more "functional". But even if you do nothing they look totally awesome! :tu:

No worries Captain Semper, that will be done, I was going to do a bitof oil around the pistons and try to learn weathering, but was saving it until the riders were done and I could do it all at the same time.

 

Thanks though, thats the kind of tips which help me and others improve.

Phew, took me all night but finally managed to get this much done for Bjorn. Looks very plain now but I plan to bling him up to be the awesome Dreadnought that he is later.

Love the claw, took it from the Blood Angel Dreadnought set. More to come.

Before I updated the front page with your new vow you need to make an official statement that you completed your previous one. If you have already done so, could you point me to that? It's a technicality but an important one... ;)

Oh dear, I didn't know you had to complete the first vow before making a second one. In that case, I'll revoke this particular vow and focus on finishing my first one. Reason is I recently bought some dreadnoughts and decided to work on Bjorn rather than continue my first vow terminators.

 

Will ensure my remaining two terminators of my vow is completed then before I continue my Bjorn.

Thanks Kasper. The vowing is a sequential process as this is an added incentive to get people motivated to finish what they started. Also it is important to note that if you fail on your second or any subsequent vow then all your previously completed ones are nullified and will count for nothing.

 

So be extra confident when you raise the stakes! ;)

Less people think I've forgotten my vow, I present you a Terminator with power sword and heavy flamer! Semper, if its alright, can I adjust my vow slightly, from a combi flamer to a heavy flamer? It's worth the same points anyway, and I realised that there's no real reason to take a heavy flamer over a combi flamer. Hope you'll understand.

Almost done with my vow. Sadly I realise I can't put a heavy flamer with a Cyclone missile launcher, so I'll have to try convert a combi flamer as per my original vow. Meanwhile though I started on my chainfist and Stormshield fellow and finally finished him! Woohoo, just have to make the combi flamer, paint, then I'm done with my vow! On to second vow for Bjorn after that!

My initial plan: Shave the wolf claws out.......

..... and replace with chain blade from left handed chainfist! Damn, that took a long time to saw/cut off the blade part, especially when I didn't actually have a proper saw, just a hobby knife. In retrospect, would have been easier to transfer the shield to right hand instead. Oh well....

Damn, I love Wolf Guard Stormshields, certainly better than the normal termie ones.

Should be able to double up on heavies. Replace Stormbolter with Heavy Flamer and take a Cyclone Missile Launcher. Of course he has to be ran in a 10 man squad, but is within the codex allowances.
