Another small update:

Still needs some more cleaning, but so far I'm rather happy with it.

Can't put my finger on it, but something about the dragon's head feels unfinished...

Rivets and flames. Now to figure out what to do with the greaves.

Needs some more cleaning and could do with a few more small details.

Progress continues ever so slowly:

Only some small changes, mainly cleaning up the body.

Still not quite happy with the head... maybe a small horn on the nose, otherwise i might have to make some bigger changes.

Stil not quite right...

On the knee will be the Firedrake's icon, on the greave is an experiment I have some ideas for. I'll have to see which one I can realise.

Pictures:

This one took quite a few attempts, but the latest went surprisingly smooth. I'm quite happy with it, not least because the outline is reminiscent of the Salamanders pre-primarch legion symbol.

Small changes at the dragons head, I might have to bulk up its body a bit.

The anvil still needs some more work, the hammer will be crossed with something else, currently I'm thinking maybe a sword or some tongs. A second hammer would probably require me to alter the angle at which it is tilted, that's an option in case my other ideas don't work.

Bulked the body a bit up.

Still needs some cleaning and the Firedrake symbol needs some more work.

Yes, I'm aware it resembles the Stormcast Eternals default symbol.

I think the filigree on the greave can work, but It might look out of place if it's not painted gold, IMO.  Salamanders are artisans, no reason they can't be artsy.

Thank you. My main concern was that the filigree wouldn't fit in aestheticaly with the rest of the ornaments I added, but you are probably right that the paintjob will tie that together if done right.

Another small(ish) update:

Inspired by the Salamanders Terminator from Deathwatch: Overkill.

This one came out a bit big, not yet sure if I'll keep it or redo it a bit smaller. In either case it isn't finished yet.

Just the foundation for later work so far.

Another foundation. Aside from that I added a bit of detail to the Firedrake insignia (the eyes and the scales) and bulked up the nose a bit.

Added a bit of detail to the dragonhead, mainly the eyes.

Update:

The next experiment with ornamentaion, I think it still needs some work.

I'll probably add some texture to the scales, though I would love to hear some opinions on that.

Not finished yet. Can you see the two damaged scales?

Anyone got a suggestion what to write on the scroll?

Main difference so far between this and the last one are the teeth.

The discs will get more details later on, though I have yet to decide what exactly. So if you have a suggestion, now would be a good time to voice it.
