I took some photos against the usual blue-to-white background and some against black as an experiment.

And the base trim has since been cleaned up with black.

Time to make some Graffitied Thousand Sons

 

I Teetengee rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete a Thousand Sons of size 9 from Codex Chaos Space Marines with a total value of 242 points on or before August 1st, 2015. Success will bring eternal glory to the Tide of Blood, Tzeentch, and the Chaos forum and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

Time for vow #2 as that soul vow isn't going to finish itself for me.  The gods want moarrrr!!! And more they shall have!  My original plan was to work on bikers and berzerkers this vow but I haven't found the inspiration to progress on the kit bashing and conversions.  Sooooo...the Lord of Skulls that the Mrs. recently gave me for my birthday will have to serve as a stand in.  It might be a stretch to finish it by the deadline.  Then again, if I wanted to play it safe I'd be painting Imperials.  To make it official:

 

I, Ancient Helveticus, rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX once again and vow to complete from Codex: Khorne Daemonkin:

• 1 Lord of Skulls with daemongore cannon and skullhurler
• 1 unit of 10 Bloodletters with bloodreaper, instrument of chaos, and banner of blood

and from Codex: Chaos Daemons

• 1 herald of Tzeentch with greater reward (greater etherblade), lesser reward (staff of change), and psyker lvl 2 (third eye)

of a total value of 1248 points on or before August 1st, 2015. Success will bring eternal glory to the Skull Throne and Tzeetch.  Failure will doom me to a fate worse than death or spawndom, shamed to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

Now to decide if the Lord of Skulls should be painted in a metallic red like the lord from vow 1 or mostly in brass.  Decisions, decisions.

Everything is looking real good, we have a whole pile of vows being completed! Its great, I doubt we will win against the HH guys (Points per Model difference is a steep hill for us to scale!) 

 

 

But we will have victory in the 41st millennium!

Lot of really great updates :D  As said I'm looking forward to seen all the complete vows by 1st Aug.

 

Spent yesterday painting the Lord.  He almost there, aim try get him varnish today & just a few parts left to paint which will get done tomorrow.  Then Saturday try convert the knight & see if this all goes to plan before putting him forward for my next vow with Havocs & Fallen Angel Lord :D

@Eldrick Shadowblade: You should scale your pictures down a bit. They are huge and a little bit to dark. You should try the gallery option of the B&C. What I can see looks nice, but the pictures of your lord are a bit weird. No frontal view.

It will be interesting to see how the completion rules change the scoring dynamic when this is over.  Last year chaos had one of the highest completion rates at ~75% (and I think a third of that was the insanity of Steve Shields mega vows).  HH had a ~65% completion rate.

Thanks!  The body is the original Scyla Anfingrimm from 4th edition (?) WHFB.  The head was replaced with one from an old metal flamer of tzeentch and side horns added from the bits box.

Just the Dreadnought to go....

I have reached about the halfway point on my second vow, a terminator lord I stripped and am repainting. He is base coated. His cape is done, and it turned out much better than before. The brass trim is done as well with a minor mishap. I tried drybrushing the trim on his legs, one came out great, the other got brass in places that were suppose to be black. I'll have to touch that back up.

 

Still to do: the accent colors, the combat familiar, add some chaos to his base, washes and a few highlights, and mainly the weapons. I'm confident I can get the combi-melta looking good, but the Axe of Blind Fury will be more difficult. I'm using the standard terminator power axe as the base, and am thinking I will cut the power cord, and try for an osl red axe blade.
