It has come to the Commissariat's attention that with the increased excitement of around fielding the glorious Imperial Guard regiments and the proliferation of Army building apps, that some have forgotten the rules of posting army lists. In particularly:

No excessive points values in army lists or discussions

This means that you may not post Army Builder print outs (or those from similar products) or fully detailed points/stats for your army lists. Keep it simple, such as "Chapter Master; Terminator armour, storm bolter, thunder hammer; 285 pts" or similar.

Some examples that contravene this rule are:

Tempestor Prime [2 PL, 50pts]

Frag & Krak grenades, Plasma Pistol [##pts], Power axe [##pts]

Militarum Tempestus Scions [6 PL, 117pts]

7x Scion [##pts]: 7x Frag & Krak grenades, 7x Hot-shot Lasgun [##pts]

Scion w/ Special Weapon [##pts]: Frag & Krak grenades, Plasma gun [##pts]

Scion w/ Special Weapon [##pts]: Frag & Krak grenades, Plasma gun [##pts]

Tempestor [##pts]: Frag & Krak grenades, Hot-shot Laspistol [##pts], Power axe [##pts]

In this example there they individual upgrade points are listed, further more when squads are standard sized and equipped there is no reason to list each individual model and their load out. A more appropriate post would look like:

Tempestor Prime [2 PL, 50pts]

  • Plasma Pistol, Power axe
Militarum Tempestus Scions [6 PL, 117pts]
  • 7x Scion, 7x Hot-shot Lasgun
  • 2x Scion w/ Plasma gun
  • Tempestor, Hot-shot Laspistol, Power axe

Similarly Battlescribe likes to include a lot of "filler" symbols and spaces in their print out which are unnessary and cluttered examples are

++ Vanguard Detachment +1CP (Imperium - Astra Militarum) [12 PL, 175pts] ++

+ HQ [3 PL, 40pts] +

Company Commander [3 PL, 40pts]: Frag grenade, Laspistol, Power fist [##pts]

+ Elites [9 PL, 135pts] +

Special Weapons Squad [3 PL, 45pts]

. . 3x Guardsman [##pts]: 3x Lasgun

. . Guardsman W/ Special Weapon [##pts]: Flamer [##pts]

. . Guardsman W/ Special Weapon [##pts]: Flamer [##pts]

. . Guardsman W/ Special Weapon [##pts]: Flamer [##pts]

Special Weapons Squad [3 PL, 45pts]

. . 3x Guardsman [##pts]: 3x Lasgun

. . Guardsman W/ Special Weapon [##pts]: Flamer [##pts]

. . Guardsman W/ Special Weapon [##pts]: Flamer [##pts]

. . Guardsman W/ Special Weapon [##pts]: Flamer [##pts]

Special Weapons Squad [3 PL, 45pts]

. . 3x Guardsman [##pts]: 3x Lasgun

. . Guardsman W/ Special Weapon [##pts]: Flamer [##pts]

. . Guardsman W/ Special Weapon [##pts]: Flamer [##pts]

. . Guardsman W/ Special Weapon [##pts]: Flamer [##pts]

In this example although not as painful on a computer screen, our Frater who use their phones have to scroll through several lines of excessive spacing and symbols. Battlescribe also individually lists each single model entry and load out, which is great for tournament play, not so much for B&C. A better way of having this on B&C would be:

Vanguard Detachment +1CP (Imperium - Astra Militarum) [12 PL, 220pts]

HQ

Company Commander [3 PL, 40pts]: Laspistol, Power fist

Elites

3x Special Weapons Squad [3 PL, 45pts]: 3x Guardsman

  • 3x Guardsman W/ Special Weapon: Flamer

We appreciate your co-operation with the Forum Rules.

While we are on the topic of Army Lists, we have seen an significant increase in Army List reviews since 8th dropped.

The Guard community has always been great for providing advice and feedback, and we hope this will continue. :biggrin.:

As such we ask when you are in the Army List Review section, that you consider "paying it forward".

What do we mean by this exactly?

Simply put, if you expect fellow Frater to provide feedback on your lists, take the time and provide feedback on others' first.

For those who are new to the Guard, or the hobby, we understand that you might not be in the position to provide feedback on others lists just yet. However we hope that you return the favour in the future!:smile.:

That is all Guardsmen! Carry on!
