I, Wolf Guard Einar , embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of April pledge to complete 1 Redemptor Dreadnought, 5 Autobolter Intercessors and 5 Hellblasters by month's end.

April Summary

April brings Q2 and the first month for the Challenge+ Copy Cat Challenge. For the moment, there have been no takers, I've made my choice, but am still awaiting a bitz purchase from international postage to first complete the What If? Challenge.

For Aprl we had 24 Frater once again pick up the Challenge and pledge to paint more models. Of those 24 Frater, 20 managed to paint at least one model, with just 4 participants earning the Next Month Badge for April. Together we pledged 340 models, of which we managed to complete an outstanding 273 models.

If April is the third (or more) time you have earned a specific Badge, you are now entitled to upgrade from Black to Bronze for all future months for that badge.

Yay, at long last (took me 3 weeks!) I finished my Heldrake.

This was a nightmare and a half with all that trim!

(well, it is supposed to be a monster out of nightmares, so that fits )

 

I call my April vow complete!

 

 

For May, I need a definite change of scenery.

I vow to complete a heavy destroyer for my Necron army (quick and easy with my simple colour-scheme), Lelith Herperax (I am NOT into Eldar at all, but I had always had a soft spot for her! ) and an old-school metal Night Lords lord.

 

 

For the rest of summer, I will have to take a "Plodding Along" vow, since I have less time for painting in summer because of all my outdoors hobbies.

There are still around 50 (!!!!) models to be done for my Night Lords army, all the mortal cultists, characters, Forgefiend and 2 units of Raptors.

They are quite simple in terms of approach - just paint everyting that's supposed to be in the exhaust white, then wash with blue (I mix wash medium with blue, VMC Flat Blue IIRC) then retouch a bit with white (deepest heat-source parts and edges). Those flaps were just edge-highlighted with white+blue mix

Over in the Darks Angels Forum there's a little challenge running to take a model from your collection and create a "Past" and "Future" version of it, below are my entries. Although the middle model is "complete" I will be updating quite a bit, I have also completed the "Past" version of Company Master Variel.

Ok, here we go, the progression of Chapter Master Variel,

Scout Sgt => Company Master => Chapter Master

Scout Sergeant 02-D-85X was one of the few Neophytes who survived Hive Fleet Beheamoth's destruction of the Heralds of Devastation home-world.

Tasked with aiding the civilian evacuation, 02-D-85X's squad had run out of ammunition when a lone Tyranid Warrior stalked onto the shuttle pad. Without hesitation, the squad drew their blades and advanced on the warrior. When his battle brothers reinforced the position, four of the five scouts were dead, 02-D-85X was unconscious atop the Warrior, both arms missing from the forearms down, consumed by acid, the Warriors head torn in half by the jaws. The civilian shuttle had escaped.

It was this action that earned his right to choose a name from the Roll of Heroes, and join the Battle Companies of the Chapter, donning his power armour for the first time, Brother Variel was born.
