++ AUGUSTUS b'RAASS ++ pre-heresy BRASS SCORPION p.247

Recommended Posts

@Apologist: Hey buddy! Well seeing as I'm almost done with the army, I'll hold of a grand army shot until the 1250 list is finished. ;) Do you fancy a spot in the Gladius? I have a Devastator Battel brother and four bolter-wielding scouts available!

@Grizzly_bear: Soon!

@war009: He'll stand in banana clad - with a slightly 40K-ified name.

@jimbo13: You're welcome to it buddy!

This update is meant to show what Bolter&Chainsword as a communnity means to me.

It's also dedicated to frater SanguiniusReborn.

As most of you know, I've opened my Imperial Fists army up to have all the different miniatures in it named by you, the frater of this community. Over the last couple of weeks, I've been in contact with over 50 frater, who all picked a miniature in my (future) collection and named it. It's given the miniatures a character and has been tremendously inspiring to me as a hobbyist. Some miniatures hadn't even been built when they received their name, and their names inspired me to -and how to- build them.

The intent of this endeavour was to 'share' my army and it's progress with the community thourgh pictures, but also to give the community a sort of ownership over my army. Some frater PMd me characteristics of the miniatures they named, some have even promised to write fluff about them and/or about the squads they are a part of.

Frater SanguiniusReborn in particular has taken his role as ´Veteran Sergeant´ of IX Devastator Squad rather seriously, welcoming each and every frater who named one of the marines of IX squad into ´his´ command. With jimbo13 claiming the last Battle Brother, his IX Devastator Squad is now complete, as celebrated with his ^^ post, above. :biggrin.:

D-Dedicated to me...?

giphy.gif

You do me too much honour Augustus, I'm just a guy who gets far too much enjoyment out of being silly on the Internet. :laugh.:

Now then, let's have a look at the squad and-

So, without further ado, I give you IX Devastator Squadhttp://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160104_021_zpsrxr2aier.jpg

Veteran sergeant - Erhard Zeikfried - SanguiniusReborn

A proud but practical officer, Brother Sergeant Zeikfried is known among his brothers as stern but just. He is known among his brothers in Fifth Company for his joviality and camaraderie when accepting victory, and his dedication to those under his command. Although difficult to truly anger, though, he sometimes berates those under his command for the slightest deviations from the codex, in order to keep them focussed during longer missions.

@SanguiniusReborn: Hahaha awesome. I hope you like the post, buddy. Feel free to add to the fluff. Thanks again, and I hope you'll continue to be involved with my army project. :smile.:

Sweet baby Dorn on the dancefloor! We look so good! I especially love my Mk.4 helmet (I've never liked the whole "huge bionic optic sticking out one side of your face" look) and I even have my own pet servo-skull! I shall named him Charles. :cool.: Thank you so much Augustus. spectacular work!

Or maybe the numeral is all an ingenious plot to confuse the enemy (and superiors)! Is it the IXth squad? OR perhabs a secretive XIth squad! They will never know! Muahahaha *twisting moustache / gets slapped over the neck by sarge Sanguinius* :biggrin.:

Love the minis and the fluff :thumbsup:

*SMACK* Stop trying to cover for the fact you painted the wrong numeral you dolt, now go and correct it now before I have you scrubbing the latrines for making 9th Devastator look bad! :furious::laugh.:

IX Devastator Squad- Battle Brother: Tevi Kozlov, call sign "Goat" based on last name due to stubborness. Please :biggrin.: Thank you Augustus!!!

Welcome brother! With the addition of Goat our squad is complete at last... :biggrin.:

9TH DEVASTATOR, ASSEMBLE!

This is amazing. I feel apart of the cool kids club. Sorry I didn't join sooner Brother-Sergeant!!!

It's fine, you're off the hook for now, but if it happens again you'll be scrubbing the latrines with Grandmagnus, clear? :furious::laugh.:

Yoo Argent aquila. There's four scouts left, but it's one miniature per frater, I'm afraid! I'd love for you to name one of them, though! :tu: Much appreicated. :)

Valik Akhedes of II scout squad then. Let him be known for his fiery temper, sharp tongue, and a propensity for his use of a lovingly cared for bolt pistol. Long may he serve to prove himself to his brothers!

I would like to claim the naming rights to one of your scouts. Feels appropriate as I am new here aswell.

Id like to name him after another german madman, Werner Herzog. But I will replace Werner with something shorter, something that sounds (relatively young).

- Oto Herzog

Is that okay? Feel free to alter it if you need to.

Oto is one of the least experiences of the neophytes, having been seriously injured early in the campaign and forced to heal for a considerable amount of time. To the brothers that dont know him it may seem like nothing leaves any impression on this shallow and unempathic jokester. But the truth is he has returned to the battlefield with a need to prove himself in his own eyes and those of the chapter.

@Argent aquila: Valik Akhedes it is! Cool name. :thumbsup:

@SanguiniusReborn: You certainly do, my friend. You'll maybe rise through the ranks and become a Chaplain yourself :wink:

@Thrillhouse: YES! With Wern Harzug, II scout squad is full! Awesome that you wrote him some fluff, I might add. :smile.:

All members of II Scout Squad have reported for duty! Now let's see what sergeant AplhariusOmegon108 has to say about that... :wink:

Alright, it's Friday, so update time! This time with I Scout Squad!

Now, scouts are pretty generic models, even with all the ammo and other bits on them. Except for the head swaps with the AM scion duders, I didn't do anything special with them. I originally didn't want to do any individual shots of them, but the comms officer IS actually a conversion, so I'll just feature them all. :wink:

Also: Telion in Imperial Fists Colours. Swiss Cheese here I come. :wink:

Scout Captain Kirdel Tion
Scout Captain Tion of 10th company is a legend among his subordinates, who operates from the shadows in the field as he does during operations. If the mission requires it, however, he personally oversees specialist long range shooting operations, for his strategic timing is rivalled only by that of a few Company Captains.http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160108_018_zpsmmnm2ldm.jpg

I Scout Squad

Sergeant - Hradin Voroka - Kelborn
Voroka is agile, resourceful, and has a tactical mind that is perfect for covert operations. He therefore was never inducted into any of the Chapter´s Battle companies, but remained in the Scout Company and dedicated his duties to training initiates.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160108_029_zpsoiwrwxa7.jpg

Heavy Weapons Specialist - Metzger Anderr - SalvationOfReason
Anderr is a recent addition to I Scout Squad, having only recently graduated from the initiation trials of the Imperial Fists. His propensity for heavy weapons became apparent quite early in the trials, and he was allowed to specialise sooner than others. His future as a true brother in one of the battle companies is all but guaranteed.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160108_037_zpseruggtf5.jpg

Comms Specialist - Anselm Cynebalt - kobrakei
Cynebalt's is a comms specialist against his will. After repeated signs of individualism, Captain Tion ordered him to a serve a five year penitent duty, so as to teach Cynebalt to operate as part of a team.
This guys is a nifty conversion, if I may say so myself. His left arm is a scout combat knife arm and shoulder, with a Scions hand with communicator, of which the cable is connected to the body on the back with a simple blob of milliput. The right arm is a scout bolt pistol arm and shoulder, with a BaC bolter and hand. The antennae are from mechanicum kits, which I got from KrautScientist. Thank buddy!

Battle Brother - Gerbern Meinrad Alpharaz
II Scout Squad's former comms specialist, Meinrad reluctantly accepted his return to a duty as a brother initiate. His is now dedicated to show sergeant Voroka that despite his skill as a specialist, he is able to perform regular duties still.

Battle Brother - Albert Trum Midnight Runner
A taciturn scout, initiate Trum has consistently shown his skill as a scout and his mastery of all scout operations. He has recently conveyed his desire to serve as a scout sergeant in the near future. Sergeant Voroka deemed speaking about desire as an unwanted sign of ambition, and reminded Trum that patience is a trait he still needs to learn before he´ll truly be ready as a scout sergeant.

I hope you like them! C&C Most welcome, as always!

Replies:
@Thrillhouse: I know right?

@kelborn: Well.. just... thank, dude! I generally cheat with the blending because I use an airbrush, but thanks! I hope you like your squad mates!

@AlphariusOmegon: Your squad will probably be up later today, as I only have to do the bases and the transfer work on them. :smile.:

Thanks everyone!

After posting the last update, I thought to myself "why would I not convert the scouts too? I'm pretty happy with the comms specialist, why don't I do that to the sergeant too?". So I stopped finishing II Scout Squad, brought out some tools and plastic scouts, and went to work.

And now I have two sergeants, ready to rumble (well, after they get some paint on them). One of these will have Kelborn's Hradin Voroka's head and become I Scout's Sergeant. The other will become II Scout Squad's sergeant. So sorry, but II Scout Squad is not finished yet.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160108_045_zpsyayqhgxg.jpg

UPS also came by and delivered the thudd guns I ordered! Yay! I while back I had the idea to use them as Thunderfire Cannon stand-ins. This was the concept sketch using my awesome powerz of microsoft paint:

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/Naamloos_zps6wa1q4jc.jpg

So I went to work on them, I simply sawed off the details of the inner parts of the Kataphron Battle Servitors, filled the gap behind the upper axis with putty, and pushed in the axis of the gun's carriage. Other than a pin, it's a very easy conversion.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160108_043_zpsv0pbwwog.jpg

I also slightly shortened the front shield's lower part on both sides.

It´s pretty much good to go.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20160108_067_zpsri0x2k7t.jpg

Cool huh?? :biggrin.:  I´m very pleased with how it has turned out!!

I have three of them, but sadly only one techmarine to go with them. Perhaps I'll paint one this weekend (as the GF is out of town). I plan on magnetizing the whole gun to the base for gaming purposes - no sense in limiting it to certain places... :wink:

Anyway, I hope you like the scouts and the thunderfire/thudd cannon! C&C welcome as always!

Cheers!

@FLint13: Thank you! The black is growing on me indeed. I've started using GW Skavenblight Dinge a lot, mixing it with AP Matt Black and VMC Off White to darken or brighten it. Pretty cool to work with. The beard came out wonderfully indeed - looks just like mine. Not as glorious as your GIF dude by far though.

@Alpharaz: Haha cheers buddy, you're most welcome. I'll be using Tion as Telion with Ultramarine tactics, because it's not possible to use him with Imperial Fists tactics. This means I'll have to ally a small Ultramarines force (in yellow colours because cheese:biggrin.: ), consisting of Telion, one scout squad, and a heavy support choice consisting of three rapiers with quad heavy bolters. Telion then will give the rapiers Rending. 18 TL S5 AP4 shots with rending, baby YEAH! It's called Swiss Cheese because it cuts through your stuff like an army knife. :wink: :tongue.:

@GrandMagnus: cheers buddy. They fit pretty well. Only some slight dremmeling to make room for the Scion necks and you're done.

@Leviathus: Don't they? Thanks buddy!

@Barrabas Sogalon: yeah buddy I feel your pain. it's even colder in Norway than it is in Northern Netherlands, right? Hopefully the Africa for Norway initiative will be ready for you guys this year too.

Hell, if points (or model numbers) become an issue, just run them as quad mortar Rapiers! They look great for both! I was originally thinking Taurox tracks for my makeshift Rapier platforms, but you may have just sold me on the kataphron tracks.

Wonderful work, as others have said!

I'm particularly fond of the shading on the yellow. Yellow is one of those colors that just kills me when done well, and looking at yours knocks me right out. Well done.

Additionaly, the gun-carriage for the thud gun is looking slick, the mechanicus range has proven great for kitbashers of all kinds.

@tarvick: yeah they fit very well, eh?

@codystuart: Go for it, buddy!

@Barabbas Sogalon: Well I hope Radi-aid reaches you in the far North :wink:

@Athrawes: My thanks to you, bro. High praise, indeed! :thumbsup:

@lord Thørn: Thank you! And Ebeneizer Brent is now part of III Scout Squad. :thumbsup:

Only two more miniatures to go:
